Montana

October

The party at the football house is loud as Autumn, Marley and I walk in. The boys are already here since they headed over after their win tonight. The girls and I had dinner at this new Indian restaurant for a girls’ night before we came here. As soon as I walk in, I see Talon with a girl all over him, and I don’t doubt Autumn sees this also. She hasn’t said that she likes him, but I have a feeling she does. I scan the crowd, but I don’t see Rocky anywhere, so we head over to Talon and his mystery girl.

“Hey, Tal,” I say as I kiss his cheek.

“Hey, Monti.” He hugs me.

I look over and see the mystery girl standing off to the side. I smile at her, and she returns a smile. Autumn comes to stand beside me, and Talon looks at her and smiles.

“Hey, Autumn, I didn't see you there.”

“Hey,” she says with an awkward wave.

“Talon, who's your friend ?” I ask.

“This is Brooklyn. Brooklyn, this is my cousin, Montana, and our friends Autumn and Marley. Brooklyn and I have a class together, she’s new around here.”

I give her an impish smile because I can feel Autumn physically still beside me.

Fuck . He just friend-zoned her.

“Nice to meet you, Brooklyn, we're going to grab a drink. We’ll see you later.”

I look over at Marley and she can read the room. So, we take Autumn’s hands, and we pull her into the kitchen. She grabs a cup and pours in some Titos and takes a shot. I grab some different things and make my favorite Scooby snack. I make one for Autumn as well, but Marley opts for a White Claw. I scrunch my nose in disgust because eww. They smell amazing but when you take a sip, it's like, Ha! Tricked ya. Absolutely no flavor.

“Are you okay?”

“I really don’t want to talk about it,” she replies as she gives me a look.

I know it must have been hard for her to witness. I could’ve sworn Talon likes Autumn. I want to ask him what is going on, but I won't. Not right now, at least. I just know if he hurts my friend, I will break his nose.

I pour us all three of us a shot and say, “Here’s to the men who want us, fuck the ones that lost us, and the losers who don’t know a good thing right in front of their stupid faces.” I wink, and we throw back our shots.

“Looks like trash came to party.”

I look over and see Trey standing there glaring at Marley.

“Fuck off, Trey, leave me alone.” Marley rolls her eyes and turns away from him.

“What are you and The Cheetah Girls going to do about it?” He sneers.

Marley is about to pop off at him, but I take a step forward and say, “Look Short King , I know you have to make up for your small dick size, so you act like an asshole. I get it, I’d be mad too, but I’m going to need you to pick a struggle. You can’t be a dick and have a small one too, ’mkay?” I pat his chest and give him a sickly-sweet smile and turn away.

I hear him mutter “bitch” under his breath, but I don’t care, don’t mess with my girls.

“Let’s go dance!”

“Yup, let's go,” they say in unison.

All three of us flip him off as I yell, “Cheetah girls out!”

We laugh and we head out to the dance floor and start to dance. My girls are looking like whole ass snacks tonight. Autumn’s long raven hair is in a high ponytail with some hair framing her face. She’s wearing black sheer tights with a tight short brown skirt, a long sleeve tight black shirt, and thigh-high black boots. Marley, like the badass she is, is wearing ripped jeans with a cut up Bob Marley shirt that shows off her amazing tattoos, and her black Doc Martens. With her copper hair cascading in waves down her back.

We’re all dancing when I see Dallas slide up behind Autumn and starts dancing with her. She must not care because she sways to the music with him, as his hands glide from her waist to hold onto her hips. She throws her head back and lets the music take over. She’s having fun and she deserves it.

I excuse myself to go to the bathroom, but motion for the girls to stay and dance.

I’m weaving through the crowd of people when I spot Rocky talking to Addison. My eyes roll automatically because, of course, she’s around him out of all these single people in here. I’m a little tipsy—because I’m a lightweight—so I walk up to them, but they don’t notice me because they’re in an intense conversation. I would’ve rather not walk up to them, but they are standing in front of the bathroom.

I cross my arms over my chest, because I’m irritated.

Liquid courage.

I interrupt their conversation by clearing my throat, not even caring about what they are talking about. “I swear, it's like every time I see you, you’re always around my boyfriend. Anyway, you two are blocking the bathroom so if you’ll excuse me.” I try to push past them.

“Baby, I didn’t know you were here.”

He tries reaching out for me, but I take a step back and hold up my hand.

“Well, if you checked your phone, you would’ve known. But if you’re not going to move out the way, I'll find another bathroom. Excuse me.”

I turn around and leave them both standing there, looking stunned by my reaction. I hear him calling my name, but I continue walking upstairs to look for another bathroom. At this point, I could care less what he has to say.

I’m so fucking sick of seeing her around. She’s up to something, I just know it. I refuse to look like the crazy girlfriend, though; she will show her true colors sooner or later. I just hope it doesn’t ruin what Rocky and I have before then.

I finally find an open bathroom. I’m washing my hands when there’s a knock on the door.

“One second, I’m almost done.”

I check myself one last time, and once I open the door, I’m immediately pushed back inside by none other than Rocky. He grabs onto my hips, and after kicking the door closed, he flips the lock and pushes me up against the wall.

“Killer, If I didn’t know any better, I would think you were jealous,” he whispers while running his nose from my neck up to my ear.

“Me? Jealous of Addison? No. Was I pissed off because I’ve been here for literally over an hour, and you didn’t think to check your phone after inviting me? Yeah, no shit I’m mad. And then, I find you with her . So, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go back out there. I came with your sister and Marley, and I told them I’d be right back.” I go to push him out of the way, but he doesn’t budge.

“I’m sorry, baby. I wasn’t intentionally ignoring you. But I can't say that you being a brat doesn't turn me on and get my cock hard.” Now he’s nuzzling my neck.

“Let me go out there and find someone to dance with and see if you’d like it if I ‘don’t feel my phone.’” I’m doing my best Rocky voice with finger quotes.

I’m pushing his buttons, because yes, I can be a bitch sometimes. I need to remember he’s not Dylan.

Rocky starts to kiss my neck and I let out a low mewl when he gets to that spot by my ear that he knows is my weak spot. He puts his hand inside my leggings and finds me already so wet for him.

“The fuck you will. You want someone to get fucked up tonight? I think you need some act right.” He growls as his gray eyes turn heated and reminding me of liquid metal.

“I don’t know, maybe.” I lift a shoulder and add, “And what is ‘act right’?” I push, raising my eyebrow.

“Montana.” He tsks, “Oh yeah, I think you do. It means I’m going to finger fuck the sass right out of you,” he warns.

His fingers find me slick as he starts working my pussy.

Ahh, act right, I get it now.

“I’m sorry, baby, I really wasn’t ignoring you.” He’s looking straight into my eyes then he smirks.

He thrust two fingers inside of me and started to scissor in and out. His thumb is rubbing my clit and when he curves his fingers it hits the sweet spot.

“Mmhmm,” I moan. It feels so good and I’m about to unravel for him.

“Do you forgive me?”

“Yes.”

“Come for me.”

That’s all it takes for me to come all over his fingers. He removes them, looks me in my eyes and sucks them clean. I fucking love when he does that.

“Damn, Killer, you always taste so sweet. Remember one thing. You. Are. Mine,” he says while looking directly into my eyes.

I nod my head and stand on my tiptoes and kiss him.

Someone else knocks on the door, and we both laugh. Rocky opens the door and looks out, but there’s no one there, so we intertwine our fingers, and he pulls me out of the bathroom. He starts walking to the left towards the stairs. I look over my shoulder and see Addison, I keep my eyes on her as we continue walking in the other direction. She looks pissed off.

Fake ass bitch.

I smirk at her.

Game on.

After a while, I finally find Autumn talking to Dallas outside by a bonfire. She’s laughing at something he’s saying, and I haven’t seen her look so happy in a while.

Man, Talon really fumbled that one. Ha! Freaking football puns.

I quickly realize that these two would like some alone time, so I walk over to Marley who is sitting by the fire as well. She looks deep in thought, but she looks up at me and smiles.

“Are you good, girl?” I whisper to her.

“Yeah. I’m fine just thinking about Kennedy.” She waves me off.

Kennedy is her little sister who loves to play football. She plays in the pop warner league my dad started.

“I need to go to one of her games soon.” I nod looking into the fire.

“Yeah, she would love that.”

“What’s up with you and Xander?” I ask.

She gives me this look like, do we need to talk about it ? and then rolls her eyes but says, “We just go way back and let’s just say he fucked around and found out.” She shrugs.

“Ohh, enemies to lovers. I love it, it’s one of my favorite tropes.” I shimmy, and she laughs.

She snorts, “more like enemies who stay enemies.” She rolls her eyes.

Yeah, okay, and I’m Taylor Swift.

Hmm, interesting. I wonder if Rocky knows what happened between them. Seeing as Marley doesn’t want to talk about that, I look over and see Dallas and Autumn getting cozier, so I change the subject.

When I walk up to Autumn, I notice the cute blush she is sporting on her cheeks. She gives me a hug and tells me that Dallas has asked her out on a date. Well, look at that.

I peek over to Dallas, and I see a huge smile on his face and decide this could be a great thing for my friend.

I clear my throat. “So, Dallas, what are your intentions with my friend?”

His eyes go wide, and he looks as if he’s about to spit his drink out.

“I think she’s really beautiful, and I would like to see where this goes.” He winks at her, and she blushes.

“Okay, well, just know if you hurt her, or touch her without her permission…I will end you. ’Mkay?”

His eyes go wide again. “You have my word. I won’t hurt her.” He’s looking into my eyes when he says that and then I feel a presence behind me.

“Good, because I’ll help her. You can’t play hockey with a broken arm now, could you?” Rocky says as he takes a sip of his water, looking at Dallas like he better not.

“Look, I know what you’ve heard, but not everything you hear is true. I won't hurt your sister. She’s amazing from what I can tell the little time we have spent together, but I can’t wait to get to know her more. And damn, Savage, I guess your last name lives up to you being ruthless, huh?”

“Oh yeah, especially when it comes to someone I love.” He’s nodding and then holds his fist out and they bump them together. Men.

Talon and Brooklyn walk over to where we are, and he stares between the two of them. I lift my brow at him, and he shakes his head.

Xander sits by Autumn and says, “Let’s play never have I ever, or put a finger down.”

“You all have fun with that. Talon, I need to talk to you about something.” I get up and start walking, not waiting for his response. I walk over to the big oak tree that is dangling with lanterns.

“Party pooper!” Autumn yells.

Talon walks up, and I cross my arms over my chest. He starts to say something, but I hold my hand up.

“Don’t. You have no right to be upset when you see her with someone else. You literally had that girl all over you. Then you straight up friend-zoned her to Brooklyn.”

“What are you talking about?”

“God, why are boys so stupid.” I pinch the bridge of my nose. “This is our friend, Autumn?” I do my finger quotes, and it’s like an aha moment goes off in his brain, and his face drains of color with that realization.

“Dude, I told you that one day your flirtatious ways will bite you in the ass, but you didn’t believe me. Now, she’s going on a date with Dallas. You let that girl hang all over you, and again, you didn’t make it known that you like Autumn. Did you think you had time? That no one would see how beautiful she is inside and out?”

“Monti, I didn’t… fuck . I’ve lost my chance, haven’t I?” he asks as he runs his fingers through his hair and down his face.

“I don’t know, Tal. But you really need to figure out what you want, because being the playboy may work for some, but it's not going to work if you want Autumn. She’s different from these other girls who only see you as a paycheck or someone who can give them a status boost. She has a dad who’s a professional hockey player, and her brother is one of the top prospects in the NFL draft. She doesn’t need anyone; she wants to be the light of someone’s life, she wants to be wanted for her, not what she can do for you. If you don’t want her, then you need to let her go and be with someone who will treat her like she’s the only person who matters in his world.” I tap his chest and start to walk back.

“Hey Monti?” I turn to look at him and see the determination in his stance. “I’m going to show her that I’m the man for her.”

I smile and nod my head, and we walk back to join them.

Before I know it, I’m nodding off and being carried to the car to go home.

Do I want Autumn in my family? Yes. Do I think Talon is an idiot? Also, yes.

I just hope he’s not too late and doesn’t miss out on the most amazing woman.
