Rocky

Talon gets the tracking device information to me. Remind me to thank Atlas once this is all over. I’ll be making sure our baby has one of these too.

I'm running like my life depends on it, because Montana is my life and so is our baby. I run into the hotel, and I see this asshole slap my girl across the face then she slides down to the ground, her hand on her cheek as her eyes close.

I see red and I’m running faster than I ever have in my whole life.

“ Montana !” I yell out.

This fucker has the nerve to smirk at me and mouth “get fucked” as the elevator door closes. He will not get away with this.

I wait to see which floor the elevator stops at. Thankfully, it's only the fourth floor. I take the stairs two at a time. Once I hit the fourth floor, I yank the stairwell door open as I see him trying to pick her up. He sees me, sets her down and is now trying to close the door, but to his dismay I get there in time.

I punch Dylan in the face, ribs, and basically anywhere I can get hits in. I’m landing blow after blow on his face and body. I have a good two inches on him, and I keep pounding on him with everything I fucking have.

“You really thought you could kidnap my fucking girl and get away with it? Then you have the mother fucking audacity to put your hands on her and think I wouldn’t fuck you up? I should kill you,” I seethe through my clenched jaw.

I keep landing blow after blow on his face. He’s now bloody and limp on the ground where I grab the hand, he hit my girl with and step on it until I hear a crack.

He’s out of it, so I turn around to check on my girl. I need to make sure she’s okay.

“Baby, baby, can you open those pretty eyes for me? Please, Killer.” I caress her cheek.

She opens up those pretty hazel eyes of hers, but I can she’s struggling to keep them open. What the fuck did Addison slip into her drink?

“Rocky,” she manages to croak out.

“Baby, I’m—” But I get cut off.

“Rocky, behind you!” I look over to see Autumn coming out the other elevator.

I turn around and jump up to protect Montana from Dylan. He’s standing near her with a knife in the hand I didn’t break. Blood is dripping from his nose; his left eye is swollen shut from the beating I just gave him. I block Montana from seeing the crazy in his eyes. I will not let him hurt them anymore than they already are.

And then, I see the cops come out of the stairwell.

“Drop the knife. Now ,” a cop yells out.

Dylan hesitates for a second, his swollen lip trying to curl up into a sneer, but he drops the knife and puts his one hand up in surrender. The hand I broke is limp at his side.

I turn and drop to my haunches and face my girl again.

She opens her eyes and whispers, “The baby. Please, I need to make sure the baby is okay.” She covers her stomach and groans.

“I need a medic, please! She’s pregnant,” I choke out as tears fall down my face.

Please, God, don’t take our baby away.

Once Dylan is taken into custody, the EMT’s rush in. “I’m going to need you to step back and let us check her out please.”

I’m hesitant to leave her side. My mom comes over and grabs my hand, pulling me so I can let them check her out.

“She’s pregnant. Please make sure they will both be okay,” I reiterate.

My mom looks into my eyes, and then she starts to cry so I pull her into a hug.

“I didn’t know, Ma. I just found out.” Now I'm crying in her arms.

Autumn steps up to us. “I knew, I found out when she did. She wanted to surprise you after the game tonight. The reason I was late to dinner is because I was setting up the room for her surprise. Rocky, please look at me.” I lift my head to look at my sister. “Montana was so excited when we came up with the plan to surprise you with her pregnancy announcement. You need to be strong for her right now. I know this is hard. Please .” She's holding my face between her hands with tears streaming down her face.

All I can do is nod my head, and she kisses my cheek and backs away to let me go with Montana in the ambulance.

Montana’s on the stretcher now, and I’m going with her. My mom, and the rest of our family will follow us. My dad’s talking to the police along with Talon. He has her phone and is showing all the text messages from Dylan. Now, I'm so glad she kept them so they can see he was harassing her, but I hate that she got hurt in the process.

I see a bruise forming on her perfect face; I’m still so angry that I didn’t get to her in time. I hate that I fucking let Addison into my head for even a split second trying to convince me that Montana left with him. Mostly, I really hate myself right now.

Please let them be okay. I’ll make it up to them for the rest of my fucking life as long as they are both okay.

We’re loaded into the ambulance but not until after they’ve given me a hard time and I tell them she’s my fiancée. I know it's only been six months since we’ve been together, but when you know, you know.

We arrive at the hospital, and they take her back right away.

All I hear is Atlas. Donor. And fired if anything happens. I don’t know what any of that means…but I’m thankful, nonetheless.

In the room, the nurses are taking blood samples and putting an IV in her arm. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in the corner just waiting to hear anything feeling so helpless as I just wait impatiently.

“My baby,” Montana cries.

“We know, love. Someone’s coming now to give you an ultrasound to make sure everything will be okay.” The nurse tries to calm her down.

The doctor comes into the room, sees me in the corner, but he doesn’t say anything to me. He asks Montana if it’s okay if I’m in the room before he proceeds to which she says yes. I know it’s hospital policy but fuck, it makes me upset that he may think that I was the one who hurt her.

“Okay, Montana. We are going to have to do an ultrasound. That means we will take this transducer and put some warm gel on it to get a better look. You haven’t had a doctor appointment with your OB-GYN yet, have you?”

“No, we have an appointment set for when we get back home. I was planning on telling Rocky tonight, but then all this happened,” she says softly.

“Alright, let's take a look at the baby. I know you’re worried. You’ll feel a light amount of pressure on your bladder, okay?” he says, trying to look optimistic.

“Okay.” She nods and reaches out for me.

I walk over as he’s putting the warm gel on the wand, and then puts it on her belly. He doesn’t show the screen because he wants to look himself. His face isn’t showing anything. Resting dick face.

“Okay, Montana, here’s your baby.” He flips the screen so she can see our little peanut. “Everything looks fine, and you’re measuring at about twelve weeks. Take a look at your baby.”

We see and hear the little heart beating so fast. I kiss Montana’s forehead and he prints out a few pictures for us to take. He tells us he’ll print out the chart and give us a file to take back home to give to her primary.

“You see that, baby? Everything will be okay,” I whisper in her ear. I stroke her head as she cries, and I have tears streaming down my face as well. I cannot take my eyes off the screen. That’s our baby.

“You’ll need to take it easy. There were drugs in your system—Rohypnol is the medical name of it, but it’s more commonly known as the date rape drug. Everything looks okay, but I can’t stress the importance of taking it easy over the next few days. If you have any spotting or bleeding, you need to get to the hospital right away. But I’m confident you and your baby should be just fine.” He finishes with a soft smile.

“Thank you doctor.” Montana squeezes my hand.

“Thank you,” I say to him, and shake his hand.

He leaves us and I hug her a bit tighter than normal.

“I’m so sorry this happened to you, baby. I feel like it's all my fault. I shouldn’t have let Addison get into my head. I should have protected you. Now, you’ve got a bruise forming on your face, and I can’t imagine how scared you were when he tried to take you. I, uh, I also need to talk to you. We said no secrets.”

She’s looking at me with tears in her eyes. I grab her hand and tell her the truth about what happened before I found her.

I blow out a breath and tell my girl how much of an idiot I am. “I’m so fucking stupid, baby. Addison said you were drinking and that you left with some guy, then Kellen came and said that he was a player from Ohio. I thought the worst. I am so, so sorry. Please forgive me for not getting to you faster.”

“You—you thought I would leave with him?” She croaks out as her lips start trembling and tears pool in her eyes.

I put my forehead to hers, “Montana, I am so fucking sorry. Baby, please forgive me. I know you have been doing a lot of that when it comes to Addison, and you will never know how much I hate myself right now. But you would be proud to know that Autumn slapped me in the face for even considering it for two seconds. She said if I didn’t pull my head out of my ass that she would be the one helping to raise her niece or nephew. That you were not drinking. I know you had this whole plan to tell me you were pregnant. I will make it up to you for the rest of our lives.” I confess as tears stream down my face.

“She really slapped you?” she asks, sounding surprised.

“Right across the face.”

“Atta girl.” A ghost of a smile is on her face.

“Be mad at me, baby, but please, please don’t give up on my dumbass. I love you.”

“I love you too, but you’re on probation, mister. I appreciate you being honest with me.”

“Always, I pinky promise.” I hold out my pinky for her, and she links it with hers.

Our families show up and now everyone knows that we’re having a baby. Autumn is still pissed at me, but I don’t blame her. She’s giving me the cold shoulder for even thinking that Montana would willingly leave with Dylan.

When my mom walks in, she goes right to Montana to give her a big hug and kiss her cheek. She’s telling her that she’s so happy they will be okay. There are tears in her eyes, but she’s trying to stay strong for them, for us.

Then, she looks at me and glares. Great, now my mom looks like she wants to slap me too.

How could I have been so stupid? Fuck, it looks like I have some making up to do with more than just Montana.
