Epilogue Two Jericho

I wander away from the wedding, grumpy and exhausted. It’s been weeks but I’m still fighting to get my body back.

If I wasn’t a shifter I’d be dead.

As it is, I just wish I was.

I wanted those fucking stones so bad. Needed them.

Just like I needed my Faith. I lost contact with her over two years ago. Haven’t been able to find her. I still don’t know why she left. All I know is I woke up one morning and she was gone. Not a word, not a sound after that.

My wounded heart tried to tell me that I’d go on but every day since is just like pulling air through a straw with a hole in it. Painful and useless.

I scuff my boots and stalk back to Hollow Mountain. I should shift and go quicker but I don’t fucking care.

It’s all useless. A shifter without his mate is a crazy motherfucker and that’s what I am right now. What I’ve been for the last few years.

I pace restlessly through the night. I don’t need light to see. To me the darkest night might as well be daylight. I can see clearly no matter if I have light or not.

The one thing I can’t do is forget.

I sigh and stop when I feel the memory washing over me. Feel her under me, her smooth skin under my hands. Her body pushing against me, whining and begging for me. Begging for me to take her.

I throw my head back and a deep-throated roar bursts from me. Pain unleashed. Washing over me like a tidal wave of agony.

Without her, I have nothing.

The End
