Chapter Five
“No, it wasn’t.” He closes the distance, and I can barely breathe when he runs his tongue along my throat. I moan, tilting my head to the side, allowing him free reign to my neck. “You’re mine, and I was deadly serious, Jillian.”
“Then why don’t you want me here?” I whimper, feeling so vulnerable.
“Because how can I get any work done?” he asks, pressing his hips forward, pinning my body against the desk with his unmistakable length digging into my ass. “When all I want to do is to be inside you.”
I press back, feeling every inch of his body against mine as I weakly plead, “I should leave, then.”
“You’re never leaving me again.”
“I never left you.” Sawyer spins me around and stares into my eyes with his light brown eyes, and they’re full of hurt.
He caresses my cheek, and my body trembles from the slight touch. “I never wanted to hurt you, Jillian, but there was no way we could have been together before.”
“And now?” I question, wanting to know where we stand. I have loved this man for so long. Longer than I knew what real love was, way before I understood what life could be, and then he disappeared from my existence.
“Now…Now you messed up by dropping into my lap before I could hunt you down,” he grumbles like it’s a problem that I didn’t let him make a grand entrance.
“You planned to hunt me down, Mr. Masterson?” He nods, and then his mouth lightly caresses mine. It’s powerful, yet controlled. His hands slide slowly up my arms to my hair, cupping my head. I cling to him, giving in to the kiss I’ve been dreaming of for years.
Our kiss evolves, his tongue sliding into my mouth as I let out a moan. I wrap my legs around his strong thighs, and he pushes me up onto his desk. It’s then I remember where we are. I push against his chest. “No, no. I can’t. I can’t.”
“What? What’s wrong, Jillian?”
I shake my head, tears falling when I told myself I wouldn’t let them. “I don’t want to be just another one of your lovers.”
He chuckles and I shove his chest again, sending him off balance a little. He doesn’t move more than a few steps and drops his head. When he comes back to me, his eyes focus on me, seeing my sadness. He cradles my face and says, “Little Jilly Bean, you and I have a serious misunderstanding. If you thought anything was happening between Cynthia and me other than her picking up the papers on the floor, you’re sorely mistaken. There has never been anything going on between her or any of my employees. Hell, with anyone, for that matter.”
“You’re telling me the truth?”
“I don’t sleep around, Jillian. In fact, my lawyer complained earlier that I needed to find a woman, but he had no idea that I already had a wife all picked out.”
“A wife?” He drags my body to his, sliding his hands to my waist and holding me close.
“Yes, Jillian.”
“We don’t know each other anymore, Sawyer.” I know in my heart that I’ve always loved him, and even now my heart beats for the man who has no love for me.
“We will. I fucked up in so many ways, but my heart and body have always been true to you.”
“That I can’t believe. The model that was blasted all over the internet?”
“That was just a paid publicity stunt to offset any suspicion that I had a connection to a beautiful underage girl.”
“So you had feelings for me back then?”
“At that time…I wasn’t sure what they were until I saw you on the steps because I spent my time worrying about protecting you. Then it became a fear that you’d find someone to love, and I wanted that person to be me.”
“It’s always been you, Sawyer.”
“Then there’s no more waiting, Jillian.” He kisses me again, and this time I give in without reservation. He releases my lips and presses his forehead to mine. “We need to get out of here before I fuck you on my desk.”
“That doesn’t sound so bad.”
“I’m not taking you for the first time where anyone can hear us.”
“I’m afraid you’ll leave me.”
“Jillian. I never really left you. Never, and that’s something I can promise you. From the moment you went to college, I knew your every move, including every party, class, and days when you visited your parents.”
“How? You work full time and…”
“I hired a team to watch over you for the past four years, someone to follow you and assure me you were safe. That’s how Nox was able to get to the party first.”
“He was hired by you?”
“No, but I called him to make sure you were taken back before I could get there.”
“Then you came to my room.”
“Yes. I tied you up, and if you hadn’t been drugged, I might have forgotten all the reasons why I needed to stay away.”
“I wish you had.” I roll my hips against his, feeling his thick length pressed firmly up against me. His body shivers with lust that he’s doing his best to fight off. I’m winning this battle. My quiet, grumpy Sawyer is so close to taking what he wants and giving me what I need.
“You have no idea how many nights that I do, too. How many hours I spend fisting my hand, wishing I was buried between these sweet thighs, spilling my seed and filling you up until you give me a family.” He grinds on me, rubbing his cock so hard that my ache turns into a throb, and my relief is almost there. So many nights I sought out my orgasms, chasing them with thoughts of Sawyer, finding the tiniest orgasms, but this feels different. The pleasure building is way more intense.
Then there’s a vibration near my hip, and I’m about to come. He pulls back, and I nearly scream in frustration.
“Thorne?” he answers his phone, stepping away from me and moving behind his desk.
“Bastard,” I mutter, storming out of his office. I need to get some air and my head on straight.
When I get to the lobby area, Cynthia’s grinning. “Your lipstick is smudged, and your hair’s a mess.”
“Well, I’m going home. If he comes looking for me, tell him I quit.”
“Will do.” She’s still grinning.
I’m about to ask her why when I feel his hands on my shoulders, spinning me around. His gorgeous eyes stare me down, and his hand cups my chin. “You can quit all you want, Jilly Bean. We discussed this already. It doesn’t change that you’ll be my wife.” He flips me over his shoulder.
“You can call it a day, Cynthia. I’m taking my fiancée out for the rest of the day. I’ll either be finding a replacement, or we’ll be coming back in the morning together and figuring out how to keep her working here while I try to get work accomplished.”
“May I suggest…locked doors? Maybe give you a shock collar?”
“Might be an option, but then I might enjoy a new kink if it means I get to touch my woman.” He chuckles and carries me out. I want to be mad, but the caveman routine is sexy.
“Are you going to drop me on my ass when you get another call?” He sets me down on my feet and stares deep into my eyes.
“That’s what that shit was about? It was an important call.”
“You didn’t even let it go for a second ring.”
“Sweetheart, you might have been too fucking caught up in our moment, but I missed two calls in a row from my lawyer, and I wasn’t too pleased that you were getting aroused by his call vibrating in my pocket.”
“What?”
“Yes. Anyway, I told you I wasn’t going to spread you out there no matter what. I’ve waited too damn long for this moment to rush it.” He leads me down to a gorgeous dark blue SUV with tan leather seats and helps me into the passenger seat before closing the door and walking around to the driver’s side.
“Somehow I thought you’d have a driver.”
“I do, but I don’t need him for everything. Right now, I want you and me alone, but I also don’t want too much availability to you until we reach our final destination.”
