Bobby
A FEW WEEKS LATER
Teaghan seemed to be a different person now that she was back at work.
Her smile didn’t seem forced or fizzled and I liked to think I had a part in it.
I figured she would question my motives and I would like to say I didn’t have any, but I did.
Teaghan’s job was perfect for the campaign.
Mr. LeJune just needed to see it from a different perspective.
Michelle Obama had her own career, but it assisted in President Obama's success.
I wanted the same. Healthcare was a big deal right now and I needed someone with more than a pretty face on my side.
Now it was a win. I was the man that got her something that made her happy and feel whole. She would never forget that.
Two weeks into her working, I popped up and got to shake hands and kiss babies. It was all working out. Mr. LeJune had no choice but to congratulate me. His speech to Teaghan pulled at my heart but it didn’t stop the flow. I needed to convince her that
I was on her side. I was because everyone needed support but at the end of the day, this was a part of the game.
“Delivery for Teaghan,” I said as I made it to the front window of Mothering Medicine. Her friend Missy smiled, and it didn’t reach her ears but hey it was what it was. I contributed it to jealousy. I was a catch and I would be hating also if I had me
“She’s with a patient. You can leave it here,” she fumed. Oh, yea she didn’t like me, and I didn’t understand. I was always polite when I came around.
“I’ll wait,” I informed. Taking a seat in the lobby, I started to check my emails.
In a few days, I had a press conference and I needed to get Teaghan ready to be center stage with me.
She had explained that she didn’t want to be in the limelight before.
But hopefully, I could explain the importance and have her see things my way.
That was the goal of today. I needed a minute to chat with her.
“Hey love, what are you doing here?”
“I guess you could say I missed you and thought you could use some beautiful flowers to match that beautiful face,” I answered as she came in for a hug.
I didn’t know why she was single. Teaghan was a lovely individual.
She didn’t require a lot. Maybe because I had most of what I needed.
I didn’t need saving or any of the other shit she explained she did for others.
I was self-made and all I wanted was her to take the ride with me.
“Always wooing me. How has the day of the future governor been?”
“Uneventful, and I haven’t won yet,” I mentioned.
“Gotta claim it. I normally don’t keep up, but I have been since I know someone personally. I think you got it in the bag,” she retorted. I smiled at her keeping up, I didn’t expect her to, but
it made me want to pop my collar. A woman taking pride in what you were apart from us was the ultimate dream for me. Especially with my understanding of her lack of support for her father.
“I thought you hated politics?”
“I never said I hated politics. I hate what politics has made my father do to me. There’s a difference. It would be the same if you started to push your agenda on me.”
“Is that your warning?” I asked just for clarification. She had no clue that I was already working my angle and my agenda with my smile, charm, and diligence. Originally I thought I would have more trouble getting in with her but the more I came around the less her touches felt friendly.
Before she could answer I sealed the deal with a kiss to her lips. It was time to activate full throttle. My plan couldn’t take any hesitation.
“What did you ask me again?” she giggled hiding her face. I grabbed her hand and massaged it. Teaghan was such a fresh face for me and people would love her. I had no doubt that when she became the first lady she would do amazing things.
“Teaghan, can we both be honest and admit there’s something brewing and traveling between us?
I like being friends and hanging out, but I can’t help but think you are the last piece to my puzzle.
Be my girlfriend,” I asked with her hand still in mine.
Missy was in the window watching. There was no way I was going to let her come in between what I was building with Teaghan.
Things, for now, did seem forced on my end but she would never know the difference.
I was starting to feel more than I bargained for.
Luckily I was ready, and that’s all she wanted.
Someone that was ready to concede to the idea of being everything she needed.
Over time, I could modify what she thought she wanted; it would be a win for everyone.
“Can I think about it? I mean because sure I like you and I really enjoy being around you but there are so many factors that haven’t been discussed.”
“Is it him?” I asked. “Him who?”
“The last guy? I know I shouldn’t bring it up. But I know you’ve struggled in relationships and trust me I know how it feels. But you don’t have to worry about that with me. I don’t need anything from you, just your time.”
“I would prefer to not speak about the last guy or the guy before that, I just simply need to be sure I am ready for everything you come with. I don’t want to be my mother,” she replied.
That statement caught me off guard. I thought her mother was a wonderful person.
Fulfilling her duties as the governor’s wife wasn’t easy.
I smirked because it was clear she didn’t understand all that it took.
Letting her hand go, I decided to leave it how it was for now.
Time was important, but I couldn’t afford a scandal or to expose our budding relationship if she wasn’t on board for the long run.
“I understand. Can we at least do dinner tonight?”
“Dinner is fine, but I must get back to work. Talk soon?”
“Yea, we can talk soon. Enjoy the rest of your day.” Preparing to leave, I tapped her nose and kissed her cheek.
She closed her eyes. It was things like this that I couldn’t wrap my head around.
She was clearly feeling me, but something was holding her back.
She loved my touch but wouldn’t succumb to me completely.
“Teaghan LeJune?” someone said from behind me.
“Yes,” she answered with a bewildered look on her face.
“You’ve been served.”
“Excuse me, what’s this about?” I asked as she hurriedly ripped open the notice.
He didn’t answer only left the same way he came.
Missy came from the back also concerned.
Missy was in my way and needed to take a backseat.
I had shit under control. Soon I wanted to be the first person she called in the midst of a crisis.
“I’m being subpoenaed to show up in court next week for the situation with Houston,” she replied.
Missy gasped and I didn’t understand what was happening.
I didn’t catch the name but the look on Teaghan’s face told its own story.
She was worried. Kissing her cheek again I decided to leave and see if I could get on top of this before we had a situation.
