Epilogue

WALKER

WALKER: As long as you’re here for New Year’s Eve

WALKER: Lacey and I are throwing a small party

MURPHY: Do you know enough people to do that?

WALKER: Very funny

MURPHY: Seriously who is going to be there?

WALKER: Lacey and me, Hallie and Sawyer, and hopefully my cousin

MURPHY: Which one?

WALKER: Like you don’t know

MURPHY: It’s more fun when you tell the story

WALKER: I think Sawyer is creeping up into the #1 friend spot again

MURPHY: That’s just hurtful

Ilook up as Lacey’s phone dings where she’s curled up on the couch. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of having her in my space.

It’s our space now.

“Why are you being mean to my brother?” she demands, her face serious for only a moment before she smirks.

“He started it.”

“Very mature.”

“Thank you.”

My phone vibrates in my hand, but this time it’s not Murphy; it’s my cousin.

COLLINS: My flight gets in on the 29th and I know you said you’d get me but I’m going to just rent a car

WALKER: Are you sure?

COLLINS: Yeah, it’s no problem and I’ll need something for a little while anyway.

COLLINS: Are you sure you still want me staying with you and Lacey?

WALKER: Yes. Plus we’re hosting a New Year’s Eve party—it’s going to be fun

COLLINS: Debatable

Frowning, I walk over to the couch and drop onto the cushion next to Lacey with more force than necessary.

“Now they’re both being mean,” I whine, tossing my phone onto the table as she pulls me up until I’m lying half on top of her and half wedged against the back of the couch.

My phone vibrates in rapid succession and Lacey picks it up, reading what’s on the screen before handing it to me. “He’s your best friend.”

“Yes, but he’s your brother.”

MURPHY: You have to pick me—you’re dating my sister

MURPHY: Also I told you

MURPHY: You guys are perfect together

MURPHY: Do you think Collins will go out with me?

MURPHY: I’m feeling good about my chances

Interesting…

But it will have to wait.

Powering my phone down, I toss it beyond the coffee table onto the rug, well out of reach so we won’t be interrupted.

“What do you think is going to happen with Murphy and Collins? Do you think she still has a crush on him?” Lacey asks, her fingers threading through my hair.

“I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough,” I offer, pushing the hem of her shirt over her breasts and nuzzling my face against her skin. “In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the hell out of your tits.”

“That all?” she challenges and hell if I’m not hard already.

“No, baby, it’s just the beginning.”
