Epilogue Two
~Ryker~
One Year Later
My baby boy drools onto my shirt as he sleeps soundly, making soft sleepy noises every now and then while I get a little work done in my home office.
Usually I leave work at work and focus on nothing but family when I’m home, but there’s always paperwork or emails that need catching up on, more so now that I’ve got a full team behind me.
My old Marine buddies, Phoenix, Cypher, Phantom, Wiz, and Babyface all joined up with me to form Alpha Security last year.
After Babyface, the youngest member of our unit at just twenty-six years old was injured in an IED explosion and medically discharged, the whole unit took a page out of my book and decided not to reenlist. Most of them don’t have families to go home to, so when I offered to have them join me in building up my business, they all jumped at the chance.
Now that there is a team of six of us, we do a helluva a lot more than offer to install security systems. We do that as well as loss prevention analysis for some of the businesses, special event security for times when the rodeo or fair rolls through town, police officer training, and we even offer personal protection services, though no one has needed that from us just yet.
Juniper Creek is a fairly peaceful town, so most people don’t require the use of a bodyguard.
The town is growing each day though, so you never know.
Ryker Junior drools a little heavier on me and as the dampness seeps through my shirt, I wish for the hundredth time since I pulled him from his crib that I’d grabbed a burp cloth.
Scarlett insisted we name our first born after me.
She said I was the best man she’s known and that passing on that legacy to our son was important.
Hearing how proud my wife was of me had me tearing up a little and I agreed.
I may be the best man she knows, but she is by far the best woman and I am so happy to be able to call her mine.
The baby stirs against me and starts sucking on his hand, a sure fire sign that he is hungry.
I go to click out of my email when I notice a request for some assistance from the Mayor.
He doesn’t go into much detail but requests a meeting with a member of my team as soon as possible.
I shoot the email over to Phoenix. Lincoln “Phoenix” Merrick is my right-hand man, just like he was during our time in the military.
There’s no one I trust more with what will most likely be an important assignment.
Satisfied that I’ve done enough, I shutdown my laptop and make my way up the stairs of our new home.
The two-story is decked out in all the latest green technology.
Scarlett showed me how cost effective it was and I know better than to doubt my woman.
The house basically pays for itself and after seeing how great it’s been for our home budget, her brothers are working on converting the ranch as well.
The home is also big enough for a large family, and that’s what I plan on filling it with. Scarlett and I are already working on baby number two, but whether or not it will happen anytime soon is anyone’s guess. I’m not too worried about it though since we enjoy our time trying so much.
As I peek into the bedroom, I see my beautiful wife sleeping soundly and I can’t help but smile and be grateful once again that such an amazing woman chose me.
With a contented sigh, I make my way over to the side of the bed and gently rock her shoulder.
I hate to wake her, but Scarlett insists on breastfeeding, and I can’t deny her a thing, even if it means she’s a little more tired because of it.
“Wake up, Firecracker. Junior here wants his midnight snack,” I tell her.
Her emerald eyes blink open and she smiles up at me, humming softly as she sits up in the bed. I pass our son over to her and she pulls her nightgown down and latches him on, sighing as he starts to nurse.
Watching my wife nourish our baby warms my heart. The sight of her amazing tits also starts to tighten my pants, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Scarlett. “Let me finish feeding Junior here, and then I’ll let you feed that to me, honey bear.”
I chuckle and settle down in the bed, pulling her close and loving that my whole world can fit right here in my arms. “You take your time, darlin’. I’m not going anywhere and holding the two of you is just as good.” Scarlett raises her brow and I chuckle again. “Okay, almost as good.”
“That’s what I thought,” she says, leaning up and giving me a kiss.
We settle back down and relax against one another. I never thought I would ever have a life as amazing as the one I do now, and with a woman like Scarlett by my side, I know it will only get better and better.
