CHAPTER 32
It’s been two weeks since Angelo finally took some distance. I don’t know what’s wrong with him, but I’m glad. Javier has been following my every step, though he’s not very talkative. The only time I’ve seen him talking freely has been with Greta.
I haven’t even been out. There’s not much I’d like to do, and I’ve been a bit clumsy after breakfast. I don’t know if Dante’s drugging me, which is unlikely, or if my body is giving in. It’s been a few exhausting months.
Someone knocks on my door.
“Come in.”
I regret the words as soon as the door opens. Angelo peeks in with a smile on his face.
“I just bring this. I know how much you like sparkling water.”
I blush. Did Dante tell him? He’s the only one, besides my parents, who knows that.
He knows too much about you, don’t you think?
Paranoid much?
You already are.
“Thank you… where is Javier?”
He’s been guarding my door all day for the past two weeks, which I appreciate, since I haven’t been feeling like myself, and I definitely don’t trust Angelo since he kissed me out of nowhere.
“He went to the bathroom. Are you okay, princess? It’s like my boss is keeping you as a prisoner in these four walls.” He cocks his head. “Would you like to go out?”
I huff an uncomfortable laugh and shake my head as I take a sip.
“I’m perfect. Thank you.”
He nods once and leaves.
I still don’t know why Dante told me to stay away from him if it’s not for his jealousy, but everything is telling me to trust him.
I know Dante wouldn’t hurt me…
Or so I’d like to think.
