Seaside Death in Scotland

Jamie Sinclair agrees to a short house-sitting stay in a coastal Scottish town, away from London, with repair work to do and a glossy black cat in his care.

When an elderly client dies after a routine repair, local gossip gathers around him and Detective Constable Emma MacLeod warns him not to meddle in police business.

Jamie knows the work he finished was sound, but long memories in the town keep the death from looking simple.

A burly gym owner and a sharp-eyed student pull him into tracing a family’s buried secrets.

As those secrets come into view, Jamie starts to suspect that this mystery may open onto something much larger than he ever planned to face.
