Chapter 5 #2

He helped her keep to the course and soon the island appeared on the horizon.

Derius took the wheel back when they got close and steered a course around the tiny green oasis so she could see it all.

“Delain said there are hiking trails and a nice waterfall at the center of the island,” he told her.

“These are terraformed islands, not natural but IDA spared no expense to get the ambiance and details right for the guests and even imported local floral and fauna. No venomous snakes although he did warn me there are variegated racers, to keep the rodent population under control.”

“I’m not afraid of snakes,” she said. “It’s really beautiful, isn’t it?” The verdant green foliage, dotted with vividly colored flowers stood out against the blue sky and the white sand beach emphasized the turquoise hue of the water. She raised her handheld and took a holo.

Derius pointed out a reef where they could snorkel if she so desired, keeping the boat a safe distance from the sharp outcroppings and then took them to the landing for the cabin.

He maneuvered the boat into position next to the long dock and managed to get her safely moored with no help from Leonie.

After helping her off the boat onto the dock, he retrieved the duffle bag and they headed for the cabin, which could be seen on a small rise ahead, situated so it had a sweeping view of the ocean beyond the island.

A white sand path edged with seashells led to the porch.

The portal unlocked for Derius with no problem and he allowed Leonie to precede him inside.

It was an open landscape layout, with the kitchen, a seating area and the large canopied bed occupying the back quarter of the floor space.

A door led to the bathroom and when Leonie took a quick peek she was amazed at the amenities—a double sink, commode, bidet, a top-of-the-line refresher enclosure, a tub standing on clawed feet and a walk in shower with multiple heads, more than large enough for her and Derius to share.

“The bathroom is as large as the cabin,” she said in amusement.

“Or larger,” he agreed. “The stasis keeper in the kitchen has all kinds of dishes from the IDA five-star restaurants to reheat, not to mention real coffee and the most elaborate coffee maker I’ve ever seen in my life is on the counter.”

“This place must cost a fortune to rent,” she said, running her hand over the handwoven quilt on top of the bed.

The pattern was an intricate grouping of sea monsters from the mythology of various planets.

Some she recognized and others were new to her.

Most appeared to be equipped with an impressive number of tentacles.

The throw pillows were each decorated with an appliqued mermaid wearing a seashell crown.

“The brochure didn’t even list the price for renting this place and the boat,” he told her. “Delain said it was his gift to us. One night only though.”

“I guess then we turn into pumpkins? Is that how the fairy tale goes?”

“We’d better not waste any time then.” He stepped to her and drew her into an embrace. The kiss was soft, romantic combusting into passion the longer it lasted and Leonie felt claimed in the best way.

She undid the fastening of his pants and went to her knees once she had him free.

“You never did let me play this way last night,” she reminded him as she wrapped her hand around his girth as best she could and stroked.

Derius’s hips bucked involuntarily as she applied pressure and reached with her free hand to cup his balls.

“I think now is a good time to take my turn.” Not giving him time to say anything, she took him into her mouth, savoring the salty taste of the drop at the tip of his cock and then taking him deep into her throat, humming as she did so.

Derius threaded his hands in her hair, destroying the braids, scattering the sparkly hairpins she’d used to tame her curls. He held her in position, not forcing her in any way but connecting them with more than her lips on his arousal as she worked. “Fuck, I’m not going to last long.”

She took his words as encouragement to work him harder until he was moaning and his hands clenched in her hair.

Without warning he reached down to disengage her and picked her up from the floor effortlessly, to deposit her on the bed with enough energy to make her bounce and giggle.

He was ripping off his clothes and she watched the show with open approval.

Derius had the cut muscular body of a warrior, one who’d earned his muscles through hard work and dangerous pursuits, and there were scars here and there to prove the nature of his past.

When he was naked he came onto the bed and crawled to her where she’d nestled in the pillows. “You’re overdressed again, Lady.”

“You can take care of the problem, Soldier.” She raised her arms and allowed him to undo her blouse, strip off her tee shirt and tug her shorts and panties off, leaving her in just her bra.

He made quick work of that item of clothing as well, tossing the white lace lingerie in the air where it caught on one corner of the canopy and dangled like a pennant.

As he moved in to take advantage of his unfettered access to her body, Leonie reached up, snagged the bra and dropped it to the floor out of sight.

Then she had no attention for anything else other than her man and what he was doing for their mutual pleasure.

Derius brought her to orgasm once with only his two fingers massaging secret places and his thumb circling her clit.

He watched her climax with satisfaction, as she clutched fistfuls of the quilt, arched her back in a bow and screamed his name.

As she collapsed onto the pillows he came over her and took possession with one powerful thrust, seating himself at her needy core, and began to pump.

Leonie concentrated on clenching her muscles to give him sensual resistance, making him grunt in approval, and matching him move for move. “Harder,” she said, tilting her hips. “I need you—”

“You’ve got me and I’m not going anywhere this time. I’ll never leave you again,” he vowed, staring directly into her eyes.

She searched his face and accepted the certainty she found there. Trailing her fingers down his spine, scratching ever so slightly with her nails, she said, “Good, then we’re in agreement. Now move, Soldier.”

“I like this dominant side of you.” He grinned and bit the soft place where her neck met her shoulder. She held him tight and brought her legs up to change the angle of their connection.

“There, right there,” she crooned, moving her hips to maximize the pressure his thick, long shaft was giving her.

Derius lowered his head and thrust hard and deep, nearly pulling out and then pistoning forward, making sure he found that magic angle every time.

Leonie closed her eyes and surrendered to the wave of sensations crashing over her, giving voice to her climax and holding him as tight as she could.

His powerful muscles shifted under her hands and he went rigid, chanting her name.

The hot jets at her core sent her into another orgasm before the first had even faded away and she saw nothing but white.

They sprawled together, spent and sweaty and her heart pounding against his chest, where she could feel the beating of his, in time with hers.

“I love you,” she said, stroking one hand down his back.

“You don’t have to say it today but I can’t keep it to myself any longer.

I fell in love with you during what I believed was one long perfect night three years ago and even the way it all ended couldn’t erase what my heart knew, deep inside.

But I retreated into fury to protect myself, to build a wall and now the wall has fallen. ”

He raised his head to look at her. “I told you before I was feeling the first inklings of love that night, which scared the hell out of me. I’m not scared any more, Leonie.

I know now the only thing I want and need in this life is you.

More than air, more than food or water—if I don’t have you, then I have nothing.

I love you too, all the way, no reservations, no takebacks. I’m yours.”

She kissed him, soft and sweet, a promise, not a claiming because she’d already done that. Derius was hers and she was his. “I trust you,” she said, “Which is perhaps equally important for us right now.”

He sat up and took her hand, pulling her from the bed. “Let’s clean up and then go explore our desert island a bit. If the waterfall is as spectacular as Delain promised it might be a good backdrop for round two.”

Willingly she went with him and if the shower became long and complicated it was deeply satisfying and demonstrated yet again how completely right for each other they were.
