Chapter Twenty-Two Rage #2
“I’ll text Bulldog and let him know. He’s friends with Shepherd. You’ve got to focus on your family, brother.”
“Thanks.”
After we hang up I message Bulldog and ask him to give Shepherd the heads up that I’m going to be getting in touch with him later today.
I want to do it right now, but I know that the president deserves a little bit of respect.
So I will wait until I get the contact information and head over to Rose’s room.
“Knock knock.”
I peak my head in and the image in front of me makes my heart pound in my chest.
Rose holding our baby is probably the best image I have ever seen in my life.
My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pick it up seeing a message from Abby.
When I open it, it's the image that I walked into.
Rose holding our son and looking down at him.
I quickly saved the image and walked towards the bed.
“I figured we had some things we had to talk about. So I thought we could take this time and then everything after that can be worked out through lawyers.”
“I don’t want to work shit out with lawyers, Rose. I want to work shit out with you.”
“Yeah, well that time has passed. Anyway, I thought you’d want to know his name.”
“Yes, I would love to know what his name is, so that I am not just calling him boy for the rest of his life.”
“Well you could’ve been a part of this if you weren’t such a fucking prick.”
“Okay, I know, I’m sorry. What did you decide to name our boy?”
“I named him Reid, Reid Beau Matthews.”
“You’re giving him my name?”
“Well you are his father. So I thought it was the right thing to do.”
“Well, I love it. I didn’t get a chance to take some pictures of him to show his brother, do you think that I can do that?”
“I guess. Can’t really deny you photos especially if they are for an innocent boy.”
So I take the time, all the time I can to soak in her presence and take photos of my boy and photos of my woman and my boy.
Knowing that I’m probably going to have all these up at home and at my office at the trucking company.
I know that I should start our conversation, but I don’t want to end this truce we have.
“So do you want me to start or are you going to?” Rose cuts through the silence. I take one last picture of my boy and put it away.
“You can start. Then I will go.”
“Okay, so I don’t know what you want to do about custody, but for at least the first year I plan to breastfeed and since I can work from home I don’t have to have a daycare.”
“Okay, well how about you come move into my home on the compound. It’s safe there and since you can work from home—-“
Before I finish she cuts me off.
“I’m going to stop you right there. I’m not going to be living in your home with you. I’m not Liza. The reason I say I can work from home is because my property is my business. That is all you need to know. So no, I won't be living in your space. You can come see Reid whenever,
but I will not be living there.”
“Well how about Mason and I come live with you at your home. I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not going to be leaving the both of you alone. I’ve heard you have someone following you and I plan to make sure I’m close to you both or that there is a brother with you at all times.
Your apartment is too small for everyone so maybe we can find something bigger.”
“Okay, I think you misunderstood. I haven’t lived at that apartment since before I heard you run your mouth to Dragon and one of your whores. I have 160 acres outside of town, close to the clubhouse. So there you go you’ll be close.”
“You own 160 acres of land?”
“So I see Abby did leave some mystery for you. Awesome. Because it seems she told you about my little stalker problem when I asked her not to.”
“Why wouldn’t she tell me, Rose? You and that baby boy in your arms is mine. I will do anything to protect you both. I should know if you are in danger. She loves you, she wants to make sure you’re okay. She wouldn’t have told me anything if it wasn’t a life or death situation.
She doesn’t want you hurt, she doesn’t want something to happen to that precious little boy in your arms.”
“I’m sorry, I’m not your anything. This might be your baby, but no I’m not yours to protect. I can protect myself.”
“That may be true, Rose, but I will feel better if I am close and no matter what we are to each other, you will always be mine to protect. Whether we are together or not. You are the mother of my child. I would not be able to handle it if anything happened to you.
So let’s work something out and I will stay with you. That way I can also help with Reid when you need it.”
“Well, I have my friends also living in my home. So I don’t necessarily need you to live there. But if you are going to keep insisting that you live close by, I have a guest home that was built next to the main house. You both can stay there until we figure out a more permanent custody arrangement.
I’d still appreciate you letting me know before you come to the main house to spend time with Reid so that I can make myself scarce. I will pump for you during that time.”
I sigh and rub my hand down my face.
“Fine. I will take the guest house and I will let you know when I’m coming to see our boy. But you need to keep me updated on every time that man sends you any messages. Open honesty.
“I’ve already got someone on it, it will be fine.”
“Yeah, well I’m sorry that someone in Maine isn’t going to be able to get to you quickly if this psycho takes things to the next level.”
“Fuckin Abby.” She pauses and takes a deep breath before looking down at the baby in her arms. “Fine, I will keep you updated, but that is all the conversation we are going to have. The stalker and our baby. Nothing else. There is nothing else between us.”
“I’ll let you think that for now, baby. But you know as well as I do that you love me. You may not believe me, but I love you too. I’ve got work to do, but I’m going to prove that to you.”
“Gosh, I swear it is like bikers are stupid or emotionally constipated. You can tell me you love me til you are blue in the face, it doesn’t matter. I’m done with men. This boy here, he is all I need in my life.” She rubs her finger down his face.
I’m going to let her think that, but she is in for a rude awakening if she thinks that I am just going to give up on her. Not being able to see her for as long as I did has really opened my eyes to her.
“I don’t want you to give up on men, baby. You have so much to offer and honestly I plan on having a bunch more babies with you.”
She scoffs and doesn’t look up at me, “Maybe you should go get Tiff or Kitty to have more babies with since you prefer them so much in your bed.”
“Rose, I’m sorry. I really am. I should’ve talked to you about everything. But I’m not a man that is used to talking about his feelings or even talking about anything.”
Before she can answer the door opens and a man in his sixties comes in, followed closely by a woman.
I assume by the look of both of them they are Rose’s parents.
You can tell by the look on his face that he and Rose have such a special relationship as he walks towards the other side of the bed with his wife.
They both completely ignore me standing here.
“Hey, my sweet little Rose. Sorry we are here so late, but we had to gather the whole big chaotic family. So they could meet their new nephew and of course grandson.”
“Hi daddy, mama. I missed you guys.”
I watch as he leans down and kisses her head, placing his hand on the baby’s head. Her mother places her hand on Rose’s and smiles.
“Hi baby girl. We’ve missed you and are so happy to be here. We are sorry we couldn’t be here before you delivered.”
“It’s okay, mama. It was sudden and you guys live a ways away.” Rose says with a smile.
“Who do we have here?” Her dad asks.
“This is Reid Beau Matthews.”
He looks at the baby and her in awe. Her mother puts her hands up to her mouth and his tears run down her eyes.
“Oh baby girl, thank you.”
“Of course daddy, You and grandpa are the only men that have always been there for me.”
He smiles at her and leans down kissing her head again.
“I love you, my sweet Rose.” He doesn’t even turn to look at me before he says, “So is this the asshole biker who is the father of your child?”
