Chapter 12 #2

“I see my house.” He motioned to the painting.

She chuckled. “Mine’s in there too.” She motioned further down and off to the side. “This place used to be blue. I had it painted yellow when we moved in.”

“Where did you get this?” he asked, thinking of trying to find something similar for above his fireplace.

“There’s an outdoor farmers market in town every Sunday afternoon. A local man paints them.”

“I’ll have to check it out.” He followed her to sit on the sofa. “How’s Simona?”

“Sleeping.” She sighed. “I think she’s drained her stomach.”

“Poor thing.” He leaned back and put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him, causing her to giggle.

“I’m sorry about today,” she said, smiling up at him.

“This is far better than a picnic,” he said, running his lips over her ear, enjoying her sexy moan as he did so. “Don’t you agree?” She smelled fresh, like flowers, and tasted like sex. He couldn’t wait to feel all of her under him.

“Hm.” Her fingers tightened in his hair as she arched back, giving him more access to her neck.

When she tugged him down, he covered her mouth and shifted so he was over her as he took the kiss deeper. Her legs wrapped around his hips as she tugged his T-shirt up. Her fingers played over his stomach muscles.

He felt his body instantly react to her touch and desperately wanted to feel her skin next to his. She nudged him back and tugged his shirt over his head, then ran her eyes over him as he reached to start unbuttoning her blouse.

“Tell me Simona’s a heavy sleeper,” he said, against her lips.

She nodded. “I’m sure she will be out for a while.” She pulled him back down to her.

“Should we… move into the bedroom?” he asked as he started working the buttons on her shorts.

She shook her head slightly. “No, here, just like this.” She arched up while she helped him discard her shorts. Finally, she lay under him in a sexy set of blue panties and bra. “It’s been too long.”

His eyes ran over her perfect skin, her toned body, those perfect breasts, and moved up to her lips, full and waiting for him to kiss.

Before he discarded his jeans, he pulled out a condom that he’d thankfully shoved in his pocket that morning. When she smiled up at him, he knew that as much as he’d like to take his time enjoying their first time together, there was an urgency, a need that had to be filled.

He kissed her until he could no longer wait any longer.

Her nails scraped his sides, his butt, lighting even more desires.

When he pushed into her heat, she moaned his name, wrapped her arms and legs around him, and held on as he took what he wanted, gave her everything in return.

Everything he’d bottled up over the years. Things he never knew he had to offer.

When they lay on the sofa, breathing heavily and wrapped around one another, he glanced at her.

“Are you all right?” he asked with a grin, since she had a large smile on her lips.

“No.” She looked at him, her eyes sobering. “All right doesn’t describe how I feel right now.”

He chuckled and started to get up to get dressed, but she held him still.

“Just… give me a moment to enjoy this.” She sighed and closed her eyes. “Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve…”—her eyes opened— “had that.”

His eyebrows shot up. “How long?”

She took a deep breath as her eyes ran over him. “Years.”

He thought about it and nodded. “It’s been a while for me too.” She released her hold on him and he sat up and pulled on his jeans. He handed her the shirt he’d pulled from her earlier. “I’d hate to think that Simona would wake up and find us like this.”

“Right.” She nodded. “I should probably check on her.”

“In a while.” He took her hand after she’d pulled on her clothes again. “This matters,” he said before rushing his lips across hers. “I don’t just sleep with women and run.”

“No,” she agreed, “neither do I.” She frowned slightly. “But I won’t do anything that lets my daughter get hurt in any way. After Brock…” She paused. “The whole thing broke Simona for a while. Actually, it broke both of us. I just don’t know if we can go through something like that again.”

He thought about what she was saying. About what he wanted for his own life. If he could make what was between them casual.

“Is this your way of asking my intentions?” he joked.

She glanced towards the hallway and her daughter’s bedroom. “This is my way of telling you I won’t do anything to harm my daughter. That our relationship is more important than anything else I might want.”

He nodded. “I would never expect you to choose between us. Never,” he clarified.

“I believe you,” she said quickly. “But sometimes the path we take leads us somewhere we hadn’t planned.”

He brushed a strand of her dark hair away from her face and cupped her chin. Leaning in, he kissed her softly. “Whatever path this leads us down, I’m willing to enjoy the ride with you and with Simona.”

He’d never meant any statement more in his life.

If he could enjoy the two of them for a while longer, then he was going to take that chance. Even if it meant heartbreak in the end.
