Chapter Six
Colson
Ifucking hate it here.
There’s too many people. It’s too crowded.
I take a swig of my beer and head towards the bar to grab a couple more so I won’t have to order again so quickly.
Waiting for my drink, I scan the area. Nash has made his way over to Lucille to try to bring up the job.
Luckily, Ren is on the dance floor with her friend, so he won’t fuck it up again.
Nash and I both knew the comment situation would upset him.
He made it clear when he joined Nash in the shower after we finished work for the day.
People find it strange how close we are, but no one knows or understands us better than each other.
We don’t trust others easily, especially me.
Ren may want everyone to be happy and get along, but I know he’s got issues he hides. Nash does too.
Ren looks good in his all-black outfit and black boots.
The hair on his head is perfectly messy.
I begin thinking about what it’s going to be like later tonight when I grab onto it while I fuck his mouth for making me come here.
My pent-up anger makes me rough with Ren, but he doesn’t mind.
He gets the emotional support shit from Nash.
It’s not like we only sleep with each other.
We work a lot, and it’s hard to find someone wanting to be only a booty call these days.
We all have needs, and we know how to take care of each other.
Nash doesn’t like how rough I can be, but Ren? He’ll take any punishment I give him.
The bartender hands me my beers and I contemplate where to go.
Ren is still out on the dance floor. When I glance over to Nash, he and Lucille are staring at me.
Nash smiles and raises a hand to wave me over while Lucille looks nervous.
I roll my eyes and head their way. Once I reach the booth, I slide into the seat across from Lucille.
She doesn’t look at me. Instead, she looks down at her hands on the table.
“Lucy here agreed to let us finish up the work that needs done at the Winslow place,” Nash says happily before taking a sip of his drink.
“Is that so?” I ask in a bored tone looking out at everyone.
I see Lucille’s head lift accompanied by a scowl.
“Yes. We were about to discuss when we could start again and if there was anything else Lucy wanted to add to the list. That house could use some work, whether you want to keep it or sell it, and now that you’ve got all this money—” Nash trails off, trying to break the tension.
“I haven’t decided what I’m doing with the house yet,” Lucy responds in a soft whisper as she looks down to her bottle, picking at the label.
“Better make up your mind quick, Rich Girl. We tend to get pretty busy when summer hits,” I say, still not looking at her.
“You don’t have to do the work. I can find another company, Colson,” she practically spits out as her darkened eyes lock to mine.
“For some reason or another, I think my Nana liked you guys according to our weekly calls. Ren and Nash I understand, but for the life of me I don’t know what made her like you. ”
“Well, Lucille,” I say, emphasizing her name, “I never asked you to like me.” I bring my beer to my lips as her face heats and her eyes narrow on me.
Nash shoots me a displeased look before turning back to Lucille. “Well, Lucy, when would you want—”
Nash is cut off by a yell and a chair falling over. I search around and quickly spot the source of the commotion.
Fucking Ren.
I’m out of my seat faster than Nash and Lucille can react, making my way to Ren and the silver-haired girl.
I’m only a couple steps away when I see a fist being brought back and aimed for Ren’s head as he’s turning around.
I quickly draw my arm back and use the momentum of my steps to push my fist into the guy's face. He immediately falls to the ground.
“That’s what you get, fucker!” Ren gleefully says to the guy after realizing what happened. Turning to me, he softly punches my shoulder. “Thanks, man.”
“Wanna tell me why I just punched that guy out?” I ask Ren.
“He told Ember here,” Ren slings his arm around the girl’s shoulder before continuing, “that she could do a hell of a lot better than my ugly ass. I asked him if he was sure I wasn't more his type. He didn’t like that. Let’s get out of here, yeah?
I think his friends just went to the bathroom.
” Ren laughs as he and Ember start walking towards the table so we can leave.
I look back down at the guy and kick his foot before strolling to catch up with them. We quickly let Nash know the situation, and they bid the girls goodbye.
Walking out into the night air, I make sure to pull Ren aside before getting in the truck. “You do realize I’m going to punish your ass for the shit you caused tonight,” I tell him as a statement, not a question.
“Of course, Sir. Why do you think I started it?” Ren replies in a taunting voice and winks at me before jumping into his seat, and I have to adjust myself before sliding into mine.
Oh, tonight is going to be fun.
