Chapter Thirteen

Nash

Fuck, my head hurts.

Touching my head for the hundredth time, I flinch.

There’s a golf ball size lump on the back of my skull from where it hit the ground.

Thankfully, no cut, but it still hurts like a bitch.

I suck in another sharp breath and grab the beer from the table in front of me.

I hear the front door swing open and slam shut as footsteps rush to the living room.

Ren and Lucy stand in front of me. Ren with panic in his eyes, and Lucy’s chest heaving from keeping up with Ren.

“You called them?” I shoot Cole an annoyed look on the other couch. He shrugs, and I slide my hand down my face.

“Texted actually.” Cole’s mouth turns up slightly behind his beer bottle.

“What do you mean? You’re hurt, Nash! Why wouldn’t he let me know?” Ren answers, concern deep in his voice.

Waving him off, I reply, “I’m fine, Ren. It was just a little fall, and I hit my head. Nothing to be concerned about.” I wince again as I subconsciously touch the tender spot.

“Nothing to be concerned about?” Ren’s eyes grow bigger as his voice grows louder. “Tell that to the tennis ball on the side of your head, Nash.” He lets out a sigh, squeezing the bridge of his nose. “You don’t get to tell me not to be concerned, Nash. You’re my best friend.”

“I’m okay, Ren,” I say, patting the spot beside me on the couch.

When Ren sits down, I place my hand on his cheek. He leans in, closing his eyes. “I’m just a little sore. I promise I’m okay. It’s not that bad.”

“So, what happened?” Lucy asks, sitting in the recliner.

“It’s my fault,” I start to say.

“It’s not your fault. We told them to put that damn dog in the house four times,” Cole cuts in. Lucy and Ren both look between us.

“I didn’t grab our ladder. Mrs. Milford asked me to clear the rain gutters and offered theirs.

I didn’t realize it was fifty years old and made of wood.

Thing was practically fallin’ apart.” I pause.

Rubbing my hands on my lap, I let out a sigh.

“Anyway. Their new dog saw a squirrel, started chasing it and bumped right into the ladder on the way by. Before I knew it, I was on the ground.”

Laying his hand on my thigh, Ren speaks up. “I’m going to need you to be more careful. I just about had a heart attack when I read the message.”

Looking over to Cole, I shoot up an eyebrow, and he just shrugs. “I told him not to panic. Twice,” he says, holding up two fingers to make his point as he takes another drink from his bottle.

Lucy lets out a little giggle, and I turn towards her. I can see her fighting another with a smile, and I can’t help smiling to myself.

Ren’s stomach lets out a loud growl, which causes all of us to laugh, and he lets us know that Lucy and him left before they ate lunch. I can’t help the small pang of guilt for being the cause, so I offer to go pick up lunch for everyone.

“You should be resting and definitely not driving,” Lucy says as she stands.

“Cole, go with Lucy, please?” Ren asks in his sweetest tone.

He raises his hands before anyone can open their mouths to argue.

“Nash needs to rest, and I don’t want him to be here by himself.

One person can’t grab food for all four of us, so please don’t complain and just go get my stomach some food.

I will text you our order. Now go.” Ren makes a shooing motion with his hands and, surprisingly, Cole and Lucy head out together.

The last thing I hear before the door closes is Cole saying he’s driving and Lucy scoffing at him.

Letting out a chuckle, I turn to Ren. “You could have gone with either of them. Why send those two? One of them won’t make it back alive,” I say, shaking my head.

“My money is on Lucy making it back. She’s a fighter.” He shrugs and then moves onto my lap, straddling my hips and placing his hands on my chest. “I was really worried about you today, Nash. I can’t imagine if something worse would have happened.”

“I told you, Ren, I’m okay.” I put my hands on his arms to give him the reassuring touch I know he needs and he drops his hands.

“I know that now. Even though Cole told me not to panic, I couldn’t help it.

My mind went to a dark place, and if it hadn’t been for Lucy keeping me talking and breathing, the panic would have consumed me.

” He looks down at his fingers in our laps, and I can see the waves of sadness coursing through his eyes.

“Ren,” I use my fingers to tilt his face until he’s looking at me again, “I may have been hurt today, but I’ve been hurt before.

Today was a mishap. I know now to bring our own ladder next time, and believe me when I say this—” I cup his cheeks in my hand before continuing, “I am not leaving you, Ren. Not if I have any say in the matter. I am here for you, and I always will be.”

His green eyes search mine, but find nothing but truth. He lets out a breath and wraps his arms around my neck, carefully pulling us closer.

“I believe you, Nash,” he whispers, placing a gentle kiss on my cheek. “And before you start, don’t you dare start thinking about work already. You need to relax. You're always taking care of everyone else; let me take care of you for once.” I let out a chuckle.

He knows me too well.

Ren puts his lips on mine for a soft kiss before dropping onto the floor and settling between my legs. His hands slide up my thighs, and his heated stare has me hard in seconds. His fingers work the buttons on my jeans, and I lift my ass so he can slide them down along with my boxer briefs.

A look of desire and hunger is all I can see on his face.

Biting his bottom lip, he leans down and licks the bead of precum that’s formed and whimpers.

Taking the head of my cock in his mouth, he swirls his tongue around the tip slowly.

His gaze locks with mine, and I see the devilish twinkle in his eyes as he works his way further down my shaft and back up again.

Wrapping my hands in his hair, I lift my hips and meet his mouth, driving deeper into his throat.

A growl builds in my chest, and as Ren reaches a hand under to cradle my balls, I can’t help letting it out.

Ren starts working me faster, using my groans as motivation.

I meet him each time his mouth moves down my shaft.

I feel the familiar tingle making its way down my back, and I know I’m close.

Holding Ren’s head in place, I shove my dick as far down his throat as he lets me and hold it in place as I come.

He swallows every drop, moaning at the same time.

Once the twitching has stopped, I slowly lift Ren’s head up and wipe away the tears on his cheeks.

His smile is big as I lift him up onto my lap.

“Thank you for taking care of me.”

Ren nuzzles his face into the crook of my neck. “Thank you for letting me.”
