Chapter Twenty-Seven #3
He pressed a kiss to her shoulder, and then his fingers found her back again, switching from shapes to letters. Spelling out Tilted Haze first. It’d taken Skye a second try to get that one as her brain tried to focus while she was melting away.
Then he spelled his name on her back. “Remi.”
A kiss pressed into her shoulder.
Two fingers ran vertically down her back and then horizontally. Skye smiled. Her voice became ragged as she said, “Plus.”
A kiss.
Her name was written underneath, and a heart enclosed them both.
“You’re so cheesy,” Skye said instead of answering, but she was fighting giddy butterflies in her stomach.
Remi bit her shoulder instead of kissing it.
She turned on her side to find Remi’s blue eyes watching her. Skye wanted to hide her face, to burrow into the bed. The intensity in his gaze was too much. She didn’t know what to do with it, but didn’t know how to look away either.
His warm fingers walked over her shoulder and danced along her neck, stroked her jaw, and up her cheekbone to make a swirling pattern on her forehead and slid down her nose. She heaved an involuntary sigh as he continued to draw on her face.
“Skye,” he whispered.
She couldn’t respond with anything other than to lean forward and connect them.
There was a sweet delicateness in the way their lips molded to one another.
The slow sizzle of a burn that builds and builds and builds until it finally catches light as Remi’s tongue darted out and licked into her mouth.
A thorough and slow kiss that ached and blistered the parts of her heart she’d been trying to hide, to protect.
It was a useless endeavor. She saw that now.
Remi pulled away to kiss her shoulder, then dragged his lips along her back, pressing soft kisses into her skin over and over as he moved behind her, his legs on either side of her waist, straddling her from behind.
Every hair on her arms stood on end. The air in the space between their bodies was thick and sensual. Skye pressed her face into her pillow and swiveled her hips a bit into the mattress.
Remi’s teeth sunk into her back, and she gasped, shivering in a sick delight as he sucked marks into her skin. As the suction of his mouth lit up the parts of her that wanted to be destroyed as much as they wanted to be the one to destroy.
He worked down her body, his hard cock slid along her back, over her ass, down her thighs as he kissed and left marks all over her.
“Remi,” she breathed. She turned her head to the side. “Put it in.”
He pulled her underwear down her legs, and then his hard length was there, against the place she was already wet from his touch.
They both sucked in a breath as he filled her. For a long moment neither moved. Remi only tilted them so they were both laying on their sides, his body cradling hers.
He pressed his palm over her mound, teased her clit, touching the places where he became one with her. Skye’s demon vision tinged the room in red, and she moaned as his fingers circled her clit in earnest.
He nuzzled his face into her back, between her shoulder blades, as her wings materialized. He mouthed at the base of her wings in a way that made pleasure spark through her entire body.
It was slow and drawn out. Skye couldn’t tell where one orgasm ended and another began, as if Remi was just playing her body as skilled and attentively as he played music.
He murmured her name, his melodic voice singing her into the Heavens, into a place higher than she’d ever been. It made something break inside her.
Skye bent her head back, and they kissed, tongues and teeth, sloppy and uncoordinated, just needing the connection. Just needing every inch of herself to be consumed by his touch as they both came.
Afterward, they laid in the same configuration, and Skye fought against the desire to drift off, but Remi’s fingertips were on her back again.
He made shapes and swirls and circles in between and around her wings, not waiting for her to guess what they were. It seemed mostly mindless, but she caught on to a few designs that seemed like letters, except his fingers were too quick for Skye to fully register the words.
And instead of brushing his palm over the words, erasing them like he had before, he pressed his hand to her back, like he was stamping the words into her skin, engraving them as if the words could sink into her and manifest in their physical reality.
This man who created magic with music by turning words into lyrics and performances into religious experiences for the outcasts of the world.
This soulless human who carved his declarations into a demon’s skin and protected them with his hand as if they were sacred, as if she deserved that reverence.
This impossibility that even the magic that floated in the ether around them seemed to be holding its breath for, waiting for the moment reality reminded them of the natural order of things.
Skye shuddered and buried her face in the pillow. She wouldn’t be the one to say anything that could break the spell, and she wouldn’t even allow herself to begin to acknowledge any four-letter words that started with the letter L.
