Chapter 28 #2

I laughed. “I don’t think baby girl played with barbies when we met her.”

“She didn’t, but still.”

“You’ll be fine. You have the most patience of your siblings, and you are great with gentle parenting. You got this.”

Just then, Neha walked into the room. She moved to the space behind Steel’s seat and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek.

These two had come such a long way. At first, I didn’t think he would get over her hiding his child for ten years.

When he walked into that prison and killed her father with his bare hands, I knew there was no turning back for him.

He loved her, and no matter if people thought he could have done better, he was with the woman his heart had always desired.

She was the best wife and mother to their children.

KJ wasn’t hers biologically, but she had adopted and cared for my boy like he was.

He called her mommy and that baby didn’t play about her.

“Dinner is ready, my love.”

“Thank you, baby. Pop, can I have a moment alone with my wife?”

I smirked as I stood to my feet. “I don’t need to be told where I’m not wanted.”

After filling my glass again, I headed into the kitchen where Steph was putting the final touches on the pie she made.

“Damn that looks good,” I said, placing a kiss on her cheek then slapping and rubbing her ass.

She giggled. “The pie or this ass?”

“Both. I can’t wait to get you home.”

“Fast ass.”

“Might be fast, but I’m gonna give it to you nice and slow.”

She squealed as I kissed and sucked on her neck while hugging her from behind.

“Oh my gosh, Papa!” Nayelli exclaimed covering her eyes as she came into the kitchen. “I don’t want to see this.”

“Well look away.”

She smirked. “You and Titi Grandma are out of control.”

Steph tossed a dishrag at her. “Don’t follow Juri up with that name, little girl.”

“Well, she’s right. We know you as our auntie and now you and Papa are boyfriend and girlfriend—”

“This is my wife, Yelli,” I reminded her.

“Uncle Deuce said she’s not your wife until you put a ring on it.”

Steph laughed. “Ooop! And guess who doesn’t have a ring on their finger.”

“Guess who better say yes when I ask.”

Nayelli clicked her thumb and middle nail together. “Clock it, Auntie.”

She slapped Steph high five.

“Go sit down,” I said, playfully mushing her head.

Steph mushed me in return. “You go sit down too and grab those boys from outside.”

“Yes ma’am.”

I slapped her ass and headed for the back door.

“Neha! Get off that man’s lap and come on here!” Steph yelled.

It sounded like something hit the floor.

“Yes— yes ma’am!” Neha called back in a strained voice.

Steph tossed me a look that ended in an eye roll. “Like father, like son.”

I grinned as I opened that back door.

What could I say to that?

Dinner was over and Steph and I were back at the house.

After eating a stomach full, giving the boys a bath and putting them to bed so their parents could have some alone time, I was more than ready to be alone with my lady my damn self.

When we got back to the house, she headed for the shower while I smoked a little.

We’d had a long day and learned some upsetting news, so I needed this shit.

By the time I made it upstairs, she was out of the shower, but not in the bedroom.

I assumed she was in the loft area at the other end of the house.

I had two, one where the kids’ toys were upstairs, the other was just a chill space.

Mostly Korri and Nayelli hung out there when they wanted to be away from the little ones.

I slipped into a pair of pajama bottoms and left the bedroom in search of her. As I bypassed the guest room down the hall, I noticed it the door was slightly ajar. Pushing it open, I stepped inside to find Steph sitting in the rocker next to the window, scrolling on her phone.

“You good, love?” I asked.

She looked up at me with a soft smile. “I’m okay. Seeing if I can picture Sevyn in this room. Those babies are heavy on my mind.”

“Oh yeah?”

“I was scrolling through Pinterest for ideas for teenaged girl rooms and I realized I don’t even know what she likes. We have a lot to learn about them.”

“We do.” I walked over and pulled the chair from the desk to sit in front of her. “But we got this.”

“You know statistically speaking, older kids have a harder time getting adopted. I can only imagine how those kids feel watching the little ones leaving that place day in and day out and they are just left there… discarded like trash. That has to be hard on their mental. That’s probably why Sevyn was talking Dax up to me.

She probably figured if we knew all his good qualities it would sway us to want him. ”

Her eyes filled with tears as she looked down at her hands.

“You noticed how she barely wanted to tell us about herself, Stanley? It was like she didn’t want to get her hopes up just to get them shot down. Can you imagine how many times that’s happened?”

“Probably more often than not.”

She shook her head. “You think they’ll be happy here?”

“I know they will.” I grabbed her hands. “We are going to be their safe space, their listening ears, their protectors, their peace, and their home. I’ll have them the same way I have you, baby. No half stepping.”

She smiled softly as her hands went to my bald head. She lightly ran her nails over it.

“I love you,” she said.

“I love you too.”

She slid onto my lap and straddled me, all while kissing me deeply. I gripped and caressed those thick thighs I loved to have wrapped around my face or waist.

“Steph… baby, I need you,” I whispered.

“Take what you need.”

I stood from the chair and carried her from the room and down the hall to ours, never breaking our kiss. Climbing on the bed, I rested her in the middle of it. My fingers worked to pull the sash on her robe. It fell open effortlessly, exposing her bare breasts beneath.

My lips moved from hers, to her neck and down to her nipples. She moaned softly as I took one between my lips and roll the other between my fingers.

“Stanley…” she whimpered, spreading her legs to welcome me between them.
