EPILOGUE
SERANA
I smiled when Roscoe pulled me into his arms and leaned my head back for a kiss, not caring that every eye in the room was on us. Life with Roscoe was so full and carefree that I barely noticed the world around us whenever I was in his arms. I knew he felt the same way.
As the music started, Roscoe hummed along with the tune he’d chosen for our first dance as a married couple. The Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat song fit our relationship just perfectly.
As the lyrics started, Roscoe murmured Jason’s part, and I whispered Colbie’s part, our voices melding perfectly.
“I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend,” Roscoe said, no longer singing along. “And I’m glad our year is finally up so I could make you my wife.”
“And now it’s on to our next adventure.”
“I guess we’ll have to wait a year for that one, too, huh?” Roscoe teased.
“Not quite. From what Wren said, it’s only going to be about seven months before our next adventure starts.”
Roscoe’s feet stopped so abruptly that I lost my balance and caught myself with one hand on his chest. “You’re pregnant?” When I nodded, he asked, “How did that happen?”
“Well, Dr. Hamilton, I would think that a man in your profession would understand the mechanics, but I’ll be happy to give you a demonstration as soon as we get out of here.”
“You’re going to have my baby?” Roscoe whispered with tears in his eyes. When I nodded, he crushed his mouth to mine and then swept me up and spun me in a circle as he yelled, “We’re having a baby!”
There was cheering and loud applause peppered with whistles and shouts.
As Roscoe slowed down, I looked over at the table where our parents were sitting.
My mom in my dad’s arms, while Marcus held Reagan close with their foreheads touching, all of them happy and ready to go on this adventure with us.
“I love you, Serana Hamilton.”
“I love you, too, Dr. Hamilton, and I always will.”
