Serendipity
Prologue
Tuesday, June 6 @ 3:17 AM
Georgie:Friends, the time has come.
Georgie has named the conversation “Ocean Beach Buds”
Georgie:Ocean Beach Weekend 1 is almost here. As a reminder, we have the Fire Island house for June 9–11, July 7–9, and August 11–13 this summer. (But if these dates aren’t already in your calendar, I’m offended.) Let’s chat grocery order and room assignments in the AM? Still can’t believe Mac found the same place as after prom! Feels like a great sign for what’s to come.
Georgie:House details:...
Georgie:I really need a beach day.
Tuesday, June 6 @ 7:35 AM
Mac:Dude, what you really need is to quit your job. Or at least be quieter when you come back home. I’m buying you less squeaky shoes for your bday haha
Mac:But yes, friends, our Ocean Beach return will be epic. Can’t wait to get out there!
Liz:I’m not over this 3:17 AM time stamp. RT quitting your job. But Cam and I can’t wait! xx
PJ:These weekends are truly the only events I care about in my calendar. Here we go, OB! Thanks again for the invite.
Brenna:Guys I just got a Facebook memories notification that we graduated seven years ago exactly! And now we’re headed back to the Serendipity House!? This is officially our 7-year high school reunion. It’s decided.
PJ:…Can I still come then?
Brenna:Of course! East Meadow High welcomes all.
PJ:Awesome. Go Jets! I’m fitting in already.
Quinn:We didn’t graduate seven years ago. Time is a simulation. Graduation is a construct. We are ageless.
Liz:Agreed ^
Quinn:Also, seven-year reunions really aren’t a thing.
Mac:No, I’m with Brenna. Let’s make ’em a thing.
Cam:Btw Liz and I just started a grocery list on Google Docs. Shared with you all. Check and add whatever!
Brenna:Perfect! We can use that grocery service again that delivers via ferry. I’ve still got their info saved!
Georgie:And then let’s just plan to circle back re: Friday ferry times later in the week?
Quinn:Booo “circle back.” We get it, you work in Big Law. But yes. Circle, we shall.
Mac:Oh, also everyone, Robyn is officially in, too. Sorry for last-minute notice!
PJ:Sounds good!
Georgie:(Quinn, I’m actively ignoring you.)
Brenna:I wish I had a boyfriend to bring.
Quinn:B, can you hear me playing my tiny violin from the kitchen?
Brenna:Ooooh. Meet you in the kitchen.
Georgie:Back to Serendipity. The rental house has 4 bedrooms, so let’s do Cam/Liz, Mac/Robyn, Quinn/Brenna, and then me and PJ, if he’ll have me as a roommate?
PJ:Sir, it would be an honor to be your Ocean Beach roommate.
Brenna:OH! So! Speaking of roommates…
Quinn:Remember how Maggie called us yesterday…
Brenna:She’s moving back to New York…
Brenna:And taking the third bedroom in our unit—moving in on Thursday! She’ll sublet through the end of our lease, which is up in September anyway.
Quinn:(And yes, Princess Karla FINALLY moved out yesterday…thank you, universe.)
Brenna:As such…we are anticipating that it might be suuuuuper awkward if we don’t invite Maggie, too? Since she’ll be literally living with me and Quinn? We don’t want to start summer off on the wrong foot.
Quinn:An awkward, rude, no-invite sorta foot.
Brenna:She’s so much fun. It’ll be like old times! Promise. Is it okay if we ask her to join?
Georgie:Fine by me! We can readjust the per portion rental charge if she’s down.
Brenna:Yay! More = merrier. (And less $$ for all, hehe.) Everyone else?
PJ:I’ve never met her but fine with me haha
Cam:Lol, only if she doesn’t write a movie about us afterwards…
Brenna:…That would be kinda awesome though!!!
PJ:Woww I’ve never met a screenwriter before. Should I be starstruck?
Liz:I think she’s technically just an assistant or something.
Liz:But yeah, fine with us if she comes.
Quinn:Thank you! Mac?
Brenna:Please, Mac?
Mac:Oh, I didn’t realize she was moving back home. But yeah, sure.
Brenna:Yay! Asking her now. I’ll add her later if she says yes!
11:45 AM—Maggie was added to the group chat.
Maggie:Hey guys! Thanks for including me. Omw back to NY now. Can’t believe we’re going back to Fire Island! Time to have some fun. x
