Chapter 11
KIARA
Fuck, that was such a rush.
I lie back on the sunlounger in the private cabana with Diego, the bar attendant, refilling my strawberry daiquiri, and all I can think about is how good that hit was. I’d timed it perfectly. Right down to checking Raiden’s schedule to figure out what time he was due to leave for his meetings.
The second he slipped out, I was gone right after him, the key to the sleek black Ducati hidden in my suit. Raiden’s note said he should be gone for a few hours, and I was able to get all the way out to Tossa de Mar, make the kill, and get back to the beach all before he even realized I was gone.
The extra sleep would have been nice, but now that the job is done and there’s nothing but these strawberry daiquiris, the beach, and Raiden’s skilled cock keeping me in Barcelona, I’ll probably be heading home soon.
I’ll be able to sleep on the flight, and then I’ll crash again once I get home, just because I can.
The only problem is, Raiden will be there, and I don’t know what to do about that.
Was it a mistake getting involved with him? Absolutely. But was it worth it? Hell to the mother fucking yes. When in Rome, right? That’s the only excuse I can possibly come up with to justify sleeping with the bane of my existence.
He could offer me a good time, and even though I was here on business, I find what I do fun, so technically, one could argue that despite doing a job, I was also here for pleasure, which basically means I’m on vacation. And when a girl is on vacation, why shouldn’t she be railed?
Hands down, it was the best sex I’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot.
While I can think of a million reasons it never should have happened, I can’t bring myself to regret it just yet.
Though knowing Raiden, I’m sure all he’ll have to do is open his mouth, and I’ll be clawing my eyes out for letting him touch me.
With work out of the way, I switch into vacation mode, relaxing on the sunlounger under the private hotel cabana, and as I soak up the hot European sun, I pull out my phone and call my best friend.
Milan answers on the first ring. “Holy shit, tell me you got him?”
“Of course I got him,” I say, a grin stretching across my face. Honestly, you’d think she’d have stopped doubting me by now. “Clean shot to the back of his head and not a witness in sight.”
“Shit. I don’t know how you do it. You’re like a ghost.”
My smile widens as she gives me the compliment of the year. “Why, thank you, though to be fair, it did take longer than anticipated. I would have liked to have got it done last night, but with that big party, there were too many witnesses.”
“Party?” she says as I hear her typing into her computer, most likely officially marking the contract complete so I can get paid. “What party?”
I let out a breath. “Girl. This party was insane, but that’s not even the interesting part. You know my new neighbor? Dude with the cock the size of an elephant trunk?”
“Yeah,” she says with a laugh. “I’m still waiting for a picture, by the way.”
I scoff. “I got something much better than a simple picture. You’ll never believe how my night went.”
“Ooooh, do spill.”
“Okay, so you know how Raiden is some kind of international sales rep?” I start, knowing she already knows this shit because all I’ve been able to do for the past two weeks is complain about the guy.
“Well, the party last night was apparently a big deal for big businesses in Europe, so after shocking the absolute crap out of me and trying to accuse me of—”
“Wait. He was there? In Barcelona? The same guy who just happened to move in next door to you two weeks ago is now showing up in the same city, at the exact same party, while you’re across the globe working a job. You don’t think that’s suspicious at all?”
“Uhh . . . I mean, kinda. I suppose. If you think about it like that, but I’ve looked into him, and everything checks out. It’s just one over-the-top insane coincidence.”
“You know what I say about coincidences.”
I roll my eyes. “I know, I know, and most of the time, I would agree with you, but I’m a good judge of character. I’ve always trusted my gut, and Raiden is an over-qualified pain in my ass, but there’s nothing more to it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely.”
“I feel as though I should look into this guy.”
“You’re not going to find anything,” I tell her. “Trust me, I’ve spent every waking moment for the past two weeks trying to find just a scrap of dirt on him, and apart from angry women blasting him online for never calling them back, that’s about it.”
“Ahhh, a real modern-day knight in shining armor.”
I can’t help but laugh, because honestly, that’s probably exactly how he feels about himself. “I mean, I don’t know about that, but last night . . . shit. He might have earned that knighthood.”
“Wait. What?” Milan screeches. “You slept with him?”
A grin stretches wide across my face. “Unfortunately,” I say, remembering every single moment of it so damn clearly. Up against that elevator wall with my legs wrapped around him as he slammed that massive cock deep inside me. God, just the thought of it is making me hungry for more.
“I think I’ve skipped a few chapters,” she tells me. “I thought we hated him?”
“We do.”
“But you’re fucking him.”
“Big time,” I confirm. “And when I say big, I mean big. The guy is an absolute monster. I’ve never seen anything like it, and girl, he knows how to use it.
He knows how to use everything. The tongue.
The fingers. Just the way he moved. It was .
. . shit. It was hands down the best night I’ve ever had.
No man has ever made me come like that, or even had the stamina to keep up with me.
But Raiden—” I blow out my cheeks, still utterly gobsmacked by my night.
“Girl, you’re going to get yourself in trouble.”
“I think I’m already there.”
“Fuck.”
I let out a sigh. She knows just as well as I do that in our world, we can’t have relationships.
They’re too complicated. Letting someone into your life only to have to spend a lifetime lying to them about who you truly are.
No matter how good you are at spinning little webs of lies, you’ll eventually get caught.
And besides, what kind of life is that? Having a partner you can never be completely honest with, never show them the real you.
It wouldn’t feel authentic. Not to mention, generally, people aren’t very accepting of murderers, no matter if it’s a professional hit or otherwise, and that’s not something I ever intend to disclose about myself. I protect me first. Always will.
“It’s just really good vacation sex,” I tell her, but honestly, I think I’m still trying to convince myself. “Now that the job is done, I’ll be heading back home soon, and the minute I do, I’ll go cold turkey. Raiden Kane and his monster cock will cease to exist to me.”
Milan laughs. “Oh shit, my sweet Crimson. You’re more delusional than I gave you credit for.
You really think now that you’ve had a taste that you’re going to be able to resist when it’s late at night and that need suddenly strikes, and the one person who could possibly make you feel completely satisfied is right there on the opposite side of the wall?
Girl, I know you’re training to withstand the harshest conditions, but not even you could resist temptation like that. You’re only human.”
I laugh. Her assessment of the situation is so insanely ridiculous to me.
Resist Raiden Kane? Easy. “It’s not going to be a problem.”
“Uh-huh.”
A shadow falls over the cabana, and I glance up to see the very asshole in question, his dark eyes hooded as he takes me in, and I can’t help but wonder exactly what’s going through his mind.
Is he remembering the way my walls clamped around him, or the way I dropped to my knees and took him right to the back of my throat?
“Oop. Gotta go, girl. The devil has arrived in my cabana.”
“Okay,” she laughs. “But remember, make sure he actually doesn’t arrive inside your cabana if you’re picking up what I’m putting down.”
“Oh, I’m picking it up alright. This cabana is more than closed for any incoming arrivals.”
“Good. Keep it that way,” she says. “Call me later. I’m going to need all the steamy details from when you inevitably realize just how delusional you are.”
A smirk cuts across my lips. “Uh-huh,” I say, before ending the call and tossing my phone down on the sunlounger beside me.
My gaze shifts to Raiden where he’s hovering at the edge of the cabana, looking like an absolute snack in nothing but a pair of swim shorts with that incredible body on display.
“Oh, you’re back,” I say, feigning disappointment. “And here I thought I’d have just a few hours of peace where I didn’t have to be bothered by the world’s most irritating neighbor. I thought you were going to be gone for a while.”
“Meeting got cut short,” he explains, his gaze raking over my body, more specifically the slight bruises he left on my hips and inner thighs, the reminder of exactly where he’s been. “Some kind of emergency outside of town that had everyone in a panic, and scrambling to get out of there.”
“Sounds serious,” I say, the perfect mask of indifference, knowing I had absolutely everything to do with that slight hiccup in his plans, but he doesn’t need that information. “Did you at least get what you came for?”
“Nope.”
“That’s a shame. Perhaps they’ll reschedule.”
He nods, his gaze meeting mine. “Perhaps they will.”
He doesn’t stop staring at me, his gaze sailing over the curves of my body as I lie across the sunlounger in a tiny gold string bikini with suntan oil slathered over my skin.
I clear my throat, forcing his gaze back to mine. “Something you need?” I ask, doing what I can not to clench my thighs, because there’s no denying that this man doesn’t miss a thing, and I refuse to give him the satisfaction of knowing just how badly I want to climb him like a tree.
