2. Marcel White
After texting and calling Koi for more than two hours, waiting around for her ass to come home was out the window.
She knew what the fuck was up. I only allowed her ass to leave because she wanted to go and attend her therapy session.
The same therapy that saved my ears from the earache of hearing her go off.
But as a nigga who had been around the block a few times, she knew what the fuck was up.
I came home every night, paid the bills, and kept her fine ass draped in Diamonds and Gucci.
So, wherever this new energy was coming from had a nigga stumped.
My dick had been up and through many of bitches, but Koi could never prove it, and the fact that I was clean was a major plus. But this latest stunt had me on edge.
A baby. A fucking baby that I knew nothing about until I got the call late last night when I was on the block. Shit pissed me off. I pulled up after receiving multiple calls from an unknown number.
“What?”, I made my way into the lobby of Bronx Lebanon Hospital uptown in the Bronx. Stacey was pacing back and forth as if I had done some shit to her cocked eyed ass. “I know your stupid ass ain’t the one who was blowing down my phone. Fuck is we doing at a hospital.”
“Nigga bye, you know this ain’t even about us. Your trifling ass. I wish I would let you stick that dick anywhere near me.” She smacked her crusted lips. “You know this shit is about Rika.”
“What?” My lip twisted up in disgust. Rika was Koi’s younger cousin who was known as the neighborhood’s cum bucket. Why she was calling me to the hospital had my mind blown.
“Stop looking like you are clueless. You know why the fuck you’re here.”
“Bitch, I’ll slap the fuck outta ya’, can’t look at one object with both eyes’ ass. Where the fuck is she?”
“In labor and delivery, and I can’t wait until Koi finds out.
I pray she leaves you after she fuck you up.
” By now my heart had dropped to my ass.
Rika was a dirty ass bitch. We shared a few minutes months ago after a block party that shouldn’t have happened.
Now the bitch was claiming I was the father to her seed!
Livid, I rushed to the labor and delivery room she was in.
“Yo, you serious right now? The fuck is Stacey talking about?” I didn’t care that nurses and a doctor were present in her room.
Rika was on the bed with some wires hooked up to her stomach.
I hadn’t seen her in months, so a pregnancy was news to me.
But looking at the size of her stomach, she looked like she was ready to push at any minute.
“Oh, look who it is. Koi so called untouchable man, looking stupid as fuck!” I wanted to come across the room and slap the shit out of her, but the look the doctor gave me told me all I needed to know. I had to save face to keep from getting arrested. My lips pursed together tightly.
“Why you had ya’ friend call me?”
“Because nigga, you the baby’s father so why wouldn’t I call you here?
” She gave me a look that I couldn’t quite make out.
My mind immediately started doing math. Rika couldn’t be trusted.
Her pussy was loose, and I knew that the night I slipped up and fucked her ass raw.
That’s why I sent her the money for a Plan B, but obviously this bitch had other plans of her own.
“You wild! So, it’s fuck ya’ cousin? I gave you money to get that pill.” My jaw clenched as the vein in my neck couldn’t be missed. The way my fist balled up, if we were on the streets, I may have knocked some sense into her.
“It was fuck her when you ran up in me, right? Nigga bye. Go on and tell Koi you couldn’t get her pregnant, but it worked over here,” she boasted. Bitches like her were who I was always warned about, but I kept playing stupid, and now I was in a fucked up situation.
“You a different type of evil.” I pulled out my phone and looked at the time. It was well after two in the morning. Koi was probably sleeping, but if she woke up and saw I wasn’t beside her, all hell was gonna be raised.
“I want a DNA.”
“And? We can do that; I don’t have shit to hide.” I turned to leave. “So, you don’t want to see your son being born?” I stopped my stride. A son? Everyone knew I wanted kids, but with Koi’s infertility issues, it never happened. And I had become set on never having kids, until now.
“What?”
“You heard me. I’m having a son, your son, our son.” She cracked a smile, showing off the rotten side tooth. “We can be a family.”
“No, we can’t, and Koi cannot know,” I told her with finality. “But Ima stay to take this test because I refuse to believe a word you say.”
“You’re gonna feel stupid.” Another contraction must have hit her because she took her focus off of taunting me and began screaming out.
“Bitch,” I mumbled.
The ringing of my phone pulled me back to reality. I answered on the third ring.
“Sup.”
“Koi over here in her Audi truck, drunk as fuck. You better come get her my nigga.” My boy Taj spoke. “I see her sister coming up the block, but she was with Belinda stupid ass.”
“Say no more.” I ended the call, grabbing my keys and wallet.
I had to Uber because there was no way that I was about to leave her truck in the hood.
Koi knew how much that shit ran my pockets.
It was the last I’m sorry gift I had given her for getting caught in the club with some bitch on her knees, giving me head.
Now when word got back to her about Rika’s stupid ass, I didn’t know what the fuck was going to keep her from kicking my ass.
In the Uber, I kept checking my phone, making sure that Koi hadn’t texted me about Rika.
Her cousin secretly hated her, and it was only a matter of time before she had done something unforgivable.
From stealing to getting her caught up, Rika was always out to get Koi.
I knew she was jealous of her, and yet I allowed her to get me in bed.
She wasn’t an ugly chick, but she was ghetto as fuck.
And to this day, I’m standing on the fact that Rika came on to me and not the other way around.
Yeah, I cheated, but it was never with a bitch that knew Koi. And as crazy as that sounded, my disrespect had levels and stooping that low was wild, even for me.
“Fuck,” I muttered, kicking the back of the passenger seat. My driver looked at me through the overhead mirror. “My bad yo.”
When we pulled up to the block, I saw a few police cars. I dismissed them since that was the new norm for the block as I hopped out of the Uber. Taj was on the corner talking to some of the old heads.
“Yo yo, she's on the bench over there.” I nodded, walking in the direction of where I saw Koi, her sister, aunt, and cousin. My blood immediately boiled when I saw her outfit of choice. Koi wasn’t the thickest thing, but her ass sat up in the short leggings she wore, showcasing that she was wearing a thong underneath.
My jaw tightened as my fist balled up. Part of me wanted to cause a scene, but I could tell her aunt was ready to pop off if need be.
She spotted me first, tapping Koi on her arm.
Koi turned around dramatically, lip twisted up, and eyes squinted as she lifted her frames before placing them back over her eyes.
Her flustered face told me all I needed to know.
Koi was lit. Ice cup in her hand; I already knew what type of time she was on today.
“Sup,” I spoke to her family. Koi ignored me, giving me her back, leaning back over the gate, shaking what little drink she had left in her cup. “Let me holla at you.” I tugged on her arm. Koi pulled away forcibly, almost losing her footing.
“Nigga bye, go on back to the bitch you crawled from under this morning. Shit, I said I’m gone, and that’s what I meant.
” Her tone was laced with malice. Tonight was going to be a long night, and the sun was still out.
When Koi got in her feelings, there was no telling how she would react.
I just stayed for the ride. She was usually the quiet type, but on liquor she was unpredictable.
“Exactly, move around Marcel. She ain’t fuckin’ with you,” Belinda spoke up. Outnumbered by her family, I stood there, scowl plastered on my face.
“Nah. This my woman and when I say it’s time to wrap this hood shit up, that’s what it is.
” We had moved over ten years ago, yet I already knew Koi returned to the hood when she was on bullshit.
I came here often, but she knew she was better than this, and with her career choice, she had an image to upkeep.
“Nigga please. Leave me alone before I call Duke’s crazy ass over here.
” She paused, waiting for a reaction. “I said leave me alone.” She took a sip from her drink, smiling.
I hit the cup, knocking it to the ground, spilling the drink.
Koi jumped back to keep from getting the contents on her.
“Asshole!” She shouted. The sunglasses hid her eyes, but her mouth puffed out in annoyance. “I hate you.” She turned on her heels.
“Bro, just leave her. We will get her home. She’s good.” Her cousin spoke up. I didn’t care who said something. I wasn’t leaving this block without Koi. Her sister stood off to the side typing away on her phone.
“Nah.” Koi staggered away in the opposite direction. I ran after her, grabbing her arm softly. “What the fuck, ma? You out here drinking in the fucking hood, talk to me.” When I turned her to face me, I could see the tears on her face from under her glasses.
“C’mon, Koi.”
I fucked up a lot, but I hated to see my woman cry. That’s when I realized I had pushed her to her limits. Koi wasn’t the soft, emotional female. She tucked her feelings in the back and moved with strategy instead of emotions.
“Fuck you, Marcel! You are just determined to break me, right?” She cried, pointing her index finger in my direction. “You win! You fucking win!” She shouted. Her sister jogged in our direction.
