14. Marcel

Ihad given Koi days and now weeks of time to herself, but that shit stopped tonight. Her smart ass mouth and nonchalant answers had me ready to go upside her big ass head.

“Where are you going?” Rika stood by the bedroom door with her arms folded over her chest. She was starting to act like I was more than just her baby father.

Rika tried to sweet talk her way into moving into my condo.

I immediately shot her down. If Koi wasn’t coming back home to the condo, then I was selling it, and we were gonna start over somewhere else.

“Stop asking me shit like you got it like that.”

“Oh please. As your baby-”

“Shut the fuck up!” I barked, causing our son to stir in his sleep. “I don’t care if you’re my baby mama, you’re never gonna get respect from me. I’m never gonna treat you like a nigga should, and honestly, I don’t give a fuck about you. If it ain’t about my son, then move the fuck around me.”

“Unt unt Rika, don’t let this nigga talk to you like that.” Belinda appeared with a cup in her hand, puffing on a blunt. “You are worth more than that.”

“If you don’t get up out of here with that blunt, I’m going to have him removed from your house and away from your daughter.” I cut my eyes at them both. “You bird brain bitches need to get it the fuck together. It’s no wonder your sister and nieces don’t fuck with y’all.”

“Well, you did, or you wouldn’t have gotten my daughter pregnant,” Belinda dismissed everything I said, laughing.

“If I wasn’t drunk, I wouldn’t have stuck my dick anywhere near her, so if that’s what makes you weirdos happy, she got what she wanted.” I grabbed my phone, brushing past both of them.

Rika was talking to my back as I ignored everything she said.

My social battery was at an all-time low, and my patience with her was completely over.

I called myself coming over to her house to relieve her for a few hours, but instead of her leaving me and my son alone, she kept coming into the room acting as if we were a family.

That shit was dead. I left out not knowing when I was gonna slide back through.

My next plan was to call my mother and have her come get the baby and bring him to me. I couldn’t and wouldn’t put up with this shit too much longer.

With a fifth of Henny in my middle console, I turned the bottle up to my lips before plugging Koi’s new address in my GPS.

She was hip to me knowing her location, but she wasn’t faster than me.

The day she told me she didn’t want the condo anymore, I went straight to her iPad location and saved it in my notes.

It only took me long because I was trying to let her come back to me, but then I had heard about her and some next nigga.

I already knew it was probably the nigga from the hotel, and that alone had me seeing red.

It had been weeks since the incident, and if it was him, then there was no denying that he was tapping the pussy.

The idea of Koi giving up what was mine was a slap in the face.

She was my good girl, the loyal one, the woman who always had my back.

Now I had to hear about her moving through the city with some nigga.

Livid, I drove to her building, found a parking spot, and posted up in front of it.

There was a security guard, so going to her apartment without notice was a no go.

I knew how these buildings’ management operated.

Jail was the last place I wanted and needed to be.

I’d wait out here until I saw her. As crazy as that sounded, I leaned my seat back, got comfortable, and waited.

A knock on the window caused me to pop my eyes open. Koi peered through the window before I unlocked my door, stepping out of the car.

“What the fuck? You stalking me? Do I need to call the cops?” She threatened.

“Why would you do that? Have I hurt you physically? The cops are excessive.” I tried to grab her hands, but she jumped back.

“You hurt me mentally, emotionally, and now you’re stalking me! You’re fucking crazy!” She yelled at the top of her lungs. Scared that a neighbor was gonna call the cops or intervene, I tried to calm her down.

“I just need to talk to you. I don’t want beef. Can we just have a conversation about us?”

“There is no us! What aren’t you getting? I’ve moved on, and you need to go to your family.”

“Koi, Koi please.”

“If you do not leave, I will make your life a living hell!”

“The fuck going on?” The minute I heard his voice, my face grimaced in annoyance. “Koi, you good?”

“He’s stalking me, I want him to leave me alone!” She cried out dramatically.

“Dude, you better go before this turns into a scene you ain’t trying to be mixed up in.” His smart ass mouth had gotten the best of me. I ran up on him, leaving Koi on the other side of the street. Gun in hand, I had it up against his side.

“Oh, you hard? You gonna shoot me?”

“Marcel, are you dumb? Like are you fucking crazy?!” Her voice had risen an octave. “Leave, please just leave!” She was begging, but the alcohol I had consumed didn’t have a heart. I was on the verge of a mental break. The guy didn’t budge.

“Shoot me nigga, you so hard, right? Let’s see how hard you are?!” He shouted in my face. I put my finger on the trigger.

“I swear, Marcel, if you do it, I will never ever look at you the same.” I didn’t care what she was saying. I looked from him to her with anguish on my face.

As if all the years had flashed before my eyes, I was looking at Koi, tears in her eyes, thinking of the first day I had met her.

She was pure, innocent, and didn’t have a care in the world.

While my lack of focus caused the dude to grab the gun from my hands swiftly, disarming it and throwing the bullets in my direction, I couldn’t help but to find where Koi was, crouching down, scared.

“You’s a dumb ass muthafucka. This the woman you claim you love, but you were about to shoot with her right here?

” The security from her building had his phone to his ear.

Everything had gone silent until I heard there was an armed man.

I took off running to my car, forgetting my weapon, hoping that Koi wouldn’t sell me out.

“Fuck! Fuck!” I showed up at Taj’s house, sweaty and out of breath. “Bro, open up.” I heard shuffling on the other end of the door before Taj pulled it open, gun raised.

“Nigga is you crazy?” He tucked his gun, moving to the side, allowing me inside.

“I pulled out a gun on Koi, and that nigga took it from me!” I paced back and forth, voice raised.

“Wow. What the fuck is up with you? You trippin’ that bad behind some pussy that you fucked up?” Taj's screwed up face couldn’t be missed.

“I am trippin’. That’s my girl.”

“Was your girl. Move on, my nigga. At this rate you gonna end up in jail or dead. One or the other behind Koi and she doesn’t want you,” he sighed, sitting on the arm of the sofa.

“Taj, did this dummy tell you what just happened? You really pulled a gun on my friend, Marcel? Like what is up with you, bro?” She cut her eyes at me, and then she looked at Taj. “He needs to go. I don’t trust him,” she stated flatly.

“Go in back to bed, Dee, I got this.” He kissed her on her forehead before she gave me one last look, turned on her heels, and left.

“I don’t know what it’s gonna come to, but you need to get it together. You slippin’ and the last thing you need is to get caught up,” he sighed. “I’m gonna be honest with you. Koi is done as she should be, and all you’re doing is making it worse.”

“If it was Dee Dee, then what?” I had to question him. Everyone had a say on how I should be reacting to Koi’s actions, but nobody put themselves in my shoes.

“I wouldn’t have fucked her cousin, so it would never be Dee,” he said confidently.

“Whatever yo.” I didn’t say another word as I left. Everybody had me fucked up. I hopped in my car, driving straight to the condo. When I pulled into my designated parking spot, I was ambushed.

“Hands in the air.” I stopped, heart pounding. “Don’t move.”

“Okay, I’m not moving.” When I opened my mouth, they ran down on me, placing the cuffs on me.

They read me my rights as I cursed under my breath. Koi wasn’t playing fair. If this was her get back, then she had officially won. Now a gun charge was about to be hanging over my head all because she wanted to be throwing her pussy at a new nigga.

“Stupid bitch,” I mumbled to myself.

Two hours passed, and I finally was given a call.

“Hello,” Rika answered in a groggily tone.

“Wake up. I need you to do something for me.”

“Why? What you do for me? Please...” She popped her tongue. “Why you not calling your beloved Koi?”

“Rika, I ain’t got time for the back and forth. Are you gonna handle it or not? I need to know now.”

“Not.”

“You know what, bet. If you thought, I was an asshole before then-.” She made a sound before saying “wait”.

“What do you need from me?” I knew her weak minded ass was gonna give in. She wouldn’t let Koi step in if she wanted to, and right about now, I didn’t care. I needed to be let free so I could figure out if this was Koi or her nigga’s doing.

“I’m locked up, I need you to get up with Taj.”

“For what? Are you crazy? Where am I going to leave our son? Huh?”

“Fuck it.” I slammed the phone down. “I need to make another call,” I shouted to the guard.

“You had ya one call, so move along.”

“Foreal, I really do need to make a call. Please.” I wasn’t a begging ass nigga, but I needed to get a hold of Taj or Bear.

Rika had just played herself. She could kiss my ass once I was free.

All that trying to be nice so I could be around my son was out the window, and she better hope that I didn’t fight for custody.

For what felt like forever, I sat in the cell until an officer called my name.

I hopped up swiftly, looking over at one of the guys in the holding cell who was slumped.

This shit wasn’t it. I couldn’t understand how muthafuckas came here and decided to keep fucking up so they’d come back.

I made it a point to tell myself this was the last time I was gonna sit in this dirty holding cell with a bunch of funky ass niggas.

The officer handcuffed me before escorting me to the front desk.

“Tonight is your lucky night. I hope you know that woman is a good woman.” The guy made it a point to put emphasis on woman.

I rolled my eyes up in my head. Wasn’t shit good about Rika.

She owed me this after being the reason behind the drama I’ve been dealing with the last few months of my life.

I grabbed up my belongings, waited for them to remove the cuffs, and left. I stopped in my tracks when I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

“You should be glad I’m not a complete bitch.” Koi stood outside of her truck, arms folded in a pair of biker shorts and an oversized tee. She looked good. Her face was makeup free, displaying her glowing skin. Her blonde curls were now hanging down. She no longer rocked a short cut.

“Thank you.” I didn’t even know if I should step closer to her or not. “But why?”

“I don’t know, Marcel. Is it stupid of me to free you? Yes. But I know you ain’t no violent dude, just a cheater. So I couldn’t let you sit in jail behind your feelings. I know you would have done the same for me.”

She was right. I wouldn’t let her get arrested or locked up. I wanted to know where the nigga was that she was just with, but I didn’t need her cursing my ass out.

“Well, good looking. I appreciate it. The gun.”

“I have it,” she stated flatly. “You better call one of your homeboys or something because I’m leaving now that you’re free.” She unfolded her arms. “I’ll drop your gun off to the house one day this week.”

I wanted my gun now, but when she mentioned coming by the house, I was hype. If I could get her alone, I could get in her head and win my woman back.

“Sounds like a plan, get home safe, and for what it’s worth, I do apologize for the shit I pulled.”

“Do better, Marcel. Ya choices lately been wack as fuck.”

“Yea, you right but-” she held up her hand to stop me from talking.

“Save it.”
