Chapter 9 Who We Are #2
Torin reached me first. He always did when the claiming needed a center.
His hands found the hem of my shirt and lifted it off without hurry, the same deliberate pace he used for bread and ledgers and the decision to cancel the late watch.
Cool air touched my skin, then his palms — warm, flour-rough still from earlier, the calluses of a man who worked.
He cupped my breasts, thumbs brushing the peaks until they tightened, and the sound I made was soft and unguarded.
Rook laughed under his breath, the real one, low and edged with the fear he wasn’t bothering to hide.
“There she is.” He leaned in and kissed the side of my throat while Torin’s hands stayed on me, while Oren’s weight shifted closer, while Vaughn stepped out of the last of his distance and put one careful hand on my knee.
No negotiation. Fluency. Each signature already known and interleaved.
I turned my face into Rook’s mouth. He kissed like he fought — direct, a little reckless, the chipped-tooth edge of him present even here.
His hands found the laces of my trousers and opened them.
Torin helped strip them down my legs. The stone of the forge floor was warm under my bare skin when they laid me back.
Rook settled at my side, still half-grinning, fear and want both visible.
Vaughn took the other side, courtesy fully down, eyes exact.
Oren stayed at my feet a moment longer, the mountain at rest, before he went to his knees and put his big scarred hands on my thighs and opened them.
The first touch of Oren’s mouth between my legs pulled a broken sound from my throat.
He was unhurried, thorough, the same way he worked iron — pressure and patience until the metal gave.
His tongue moved in slow, deliberate strokes over the sensitive peak, then lower, tasting, claiming.
The hum in his chest vibrated against me.
My hips lifted. Rook’s hand found one of my breasts, thumb circling; Vaughn’s mouth closed over the other, careful, precise, the strategist’s attention turned entirely to the map of my body.
Torin stayed at my head, one hand in my hair, the other braced beside me, watching all of it with the steady provision-shaped certainty that said this was his to guard even while it happened.
I came the first time against Oren’s mouth.
The climax rolled through me in long, shaking waves, thighs trembling against his shoulders.
He didn’t stop until the last pulse faded, then pressed a single open-mouthed kiss to the inside of my thigh and lifted his head.
His eyes were dark. The hum had gone deeper.
Rook made a quiet sound that was almost laughter.
“Greedy mountain.” He kissed me again, tasting the salt of my own skin on his mouth when he pulled back, and then he was moving, shedding his own clothes with the careless efficiency of a man who had never cared what the room thought of him.
When he settled between my legs he was already hard, the head of him slick.
He looked at me — fear still there, honest, not performed — and waited the half-second that was all the permission any of them needed anymore.
He pushed in.
The stretch of him filled me in one long, continuous stroke until his hips met mine.
I felt every inch. Rook’s grin flickered and then broke into something rawer.
He held still, forehead against mine, breathing with me, the bond in his direction warm and steady and open wide.
Then he began to move — deep, rolling thrusts that dragged against every sensitive place inside me.
Torin’s hand stayed in my hair. Vaughn’s mouth returned to my breast. Oren’s scarred palm rested on my stomach, grounding, the weight of him present even while Rook fucked me.
The second climax built slower. Rook felt it coming; his rhythm changed, shorter, deeper, the fear and the want both visible in the way he looked at me.
“Knife—” My name in his mouth was a claim and a plea at once.
I came hard around him, internal muscles clenching, and the sound I made was open, unshielded.
He followed a handful of strokes later, burying himself to the root and spilling inside me with a low, broken noise against my throat.
The hot pulse of him, the way his body locked and shook — I felt all of it. The bond between us sang wider.
He didn’t pull out immediately. He stayed, kissing the corner of my mouth, the fear still under the honesty, until Torin’s hand on his shoulder said enough. Rook withdrew carefully, the loss of him leaving me open and wet, and rolled to my side with a breathless almost-laugh that was pure Rook.
Vaughn was already there.
He didn’t speak. The courtesy was gone; what remained were short true sentences waiting behind his eyes and the absolute focus of a man who had spent years refusing what he wanted and had finally stopped.
He settled between my thighs, the head of him nudging against the mess Rook had left, and pushed in with the same precision he used for maps and contingencies.
Thick. Exact. Every inch measured and claimed.
His crooked finger braced against the stone beside my hip.
When he was fully seated he looked at me — really looked — and the register shift was complete.
“Here,” he said. One word. True.
He fucked me like that: controlled, deep, the strategist’s body turned entirely to the single problem of making me come apart under him.
Torin’s hand stayed in my hair. Rook’s mouth found the side of my throat.
Oren’s palm remained on my stomach, the hum a low constant under everything.
Vaughn’s strokes never hurried. He watched my face the way he watched ledgers — recording every reaction, adjusting the angle until the head of him rubbed exactly where I needed it.
The third climax took me almost without warning, sharper, my back arching off the warm stone.
He felt the clench of me around him and his control frayed.
His hips snapped once, twice, and then he buried himself and came with a quiet, wrecked sound that was pure Vaughn — no performance, only the truth of it.
He stayed inside me longer than Rook had, forehead against my collarbone, breathing, the bond in his direction held open and unarmored. When he finally withdrew, the wet heat of both of them spilled down the inside of my thigh. Oren’s hand caught it, deliberate, and then Oren was moving.
He was the largest of them. Always had been.
The weight of him settled over me carefully, scarred forearms braced on either side of my shoulders, the forge-hum living in his chest against my own.
He didn’t rush the entry. He notched himself against me — thick, heavy, the blunt pressure of him making my breath catch — and waited until my hands found his shoulders and my knees opened wider in answer.
Then he pushed in, slow, relentless, the stretch of him almost too much after the others, every inch a deliberate claim until he was seated to the root and there was nowhere left to go.
The sound he made was barely a sound at all. Just the hum dropping lower, load-bearing.
He moved the way he worked iron: steady, powerful, no wasted motion.
Deep strokes that filled me completely, the drag of him on every withdrawal making my vision narrow.
Torin’s mouth found mine. Rook’s hand stroked down my side.
Vaughn’s fingers laced with one of mine against the stone.
Oren fucked me through all of it, the mountain at work, the bond in the deep still place opening wider than it had ever been.
The fourth climax built under the pressure of him, heavy and inevitable.
When it broke I cried out against Torin’s mouth, body locking around the thick length of Oren, and he followed with a low, guttural exhale that vibrated through both of us, spilling deep inside me while his hands stayed gentle on my face.
He didn’t pull out. He stayed, the full weight of him carefully braced, the hum steady, until the pulses faded and my breathing evened. Then he withdrew with the same care he used for everything fragile, and the mess of all three of them marked my thighs.
Torin was the last.
He had waited. Provision-shaped. Fully present.
He lifted me carefully from the stone and settled me astride his lap as he sat back against the anvil’s base, the banked fire painting one side of his face gold.
I was open, wet, used, and he looked at me like I was still the most necessary thing in the room.
His hands guided my hips. The head of him — thick, already hard again — pressed against me, and I sank down onto him in one long, continuous slide until he was buried completely and my forehead rested against his.
“Mine,” I said, the word leaving me without decision.
He didn’t answer yet. He simply held my hips and let me feel the solid fact of him inside me, the bond north and steady and open wider than it had ever been.
Then he began to move me on him — slow lifts, deep drops, the same unhurried rhythm he used for everything that mattered.
Rook’s mouth found the back of my shoulder.
Vaughn’s hand stroked down my spine. Oren’s palm settled at the small of my back, grounding.
All four of them touching me while Torin fucked me from below, the wet sound of it filling the forge, the bonds sung wide open, the thief’s read gone entirely quiet.
