Sexbot, Part 2 (The SPARK Files #4)

1. Wallace

Wallace

“You’re sure you don’t mind?” Volt asked as the car pulled into a parking space and shut itself off.

Wallace gave him a besotted grin. He was so damned happy right now he couldn’t stand it.

He, Wallace Clark Wollencroft, had a real live boyfriend.

Well, not exactly alive, since Volt was, technically, a sexbot. But he was sentient. Warm. The sexiest, kindest man Wallace had ever met, and for some reason, he wanted to date Wallace.

Wallace was hardly going to say no to any opportunity to spend time together, even if it was just watching Volt fix a broken heater. The fact that Volt wanted to be with him at all was still blowing his mind.

Just a few hours ago, Wallace had been convinced that their morning “date” was going to be another business transaction. He’d mentally prepared himself for a few hours of pretending that Volt was his Daddy in real life while knowing that it would all be fake.

He’d fully expected to be charged his usual hourly rate, even if they spent it at the aquarium instead of doing naughty things in the rose room at Prism where Volt sold his services by the hour.

Wallace had just been so desperate to believe in the fantasy that he was willing to pay for it.

When Volt had asked him if he wanted their relationship to be real, he hadn’t believed it at first. How could someone as sexy and confident as Volt, someone who could have anyone, want awkward, dumpy Wallace? It was simply too good to be true.

It had taken a call to Angel—Volt’s “brother” spark—to finally convince him that Volt had been as miserable as Wallace was during their week apart. His Daddy had been sulking! And Angel had been giving him pep talks about asking Wallace out.

As if Wallace would ever turn down an opportunity to date the impossibly handsome spark who gave meaning to his days and filled his dreams at night. Volt was his everything.

And now Volt was somehow, miraculously, his.

It still didn’t seem real.

No one wanted Wallace.

So all through their date this morning, he’d been floating on a cloud.

Eating bites of crushed creampuff from Daddy’s fingers.

Holding Daddy’s hand as they wandered through the park.

Snuggling against Daddy’s broad chest every time they paused to look at a shark or fish while Daddy wrapped his arms around him from behind or kissed the side of his head.

And then on the car ride back to Prism, well… Wallace was still feeling blissed out, floating in the haze of his orgasm and the heady euphoria of his Daddy’s attention. Of starting to believe that this thing building between them was real.

That Daddy wanted him, too.

“Yeah,” he answered Daddy’s question, getting lost in those sparkling emerald eyes. “I mean, no, I don’t mind.” He wanted to be anywhere that Volt was. “I’ll hang out with you while you fix the heater, right?”

“Yep,” Volt agreed, his brow furrowed.

Daddy had looked so relaxed and joyful a few minutes ago, sucking Wallace off in the crowded car and then petting and cooing at him afterward. Wallace had melted into him, content to float in the dream world of his Daddy’s affection. To let his perfect Daddy be in charge of everything.

But this was the third time Volt had asked if Wallace really wanted to join him, so clearly something wasn’t right.

Maybe because Volt had admitted that he wasn’t very good at mechanical stuff?

But that was ridiculous. Everyone was bad at something. It wasn’t like Wallace would judge him when he didn’t know the first thing about fixing a heater himself.

Or… Was Volt having regrets?

Maybe Wallace was already being too clingy?

Or Volt had changed his mind about dating him?

Wallace felt his stomach clench. He had a long history of disappointing the women that he’d dated. Even with his family’s wealth, it hadn’t been enough for anyone to actually want him.

Not that he’d really been interested in those women anyway.

Not like he wanted Volt.

God, he wanted this to work out.

Everything had seemed so easy this morning at the park and the aquarium, but maybe that was still part of the fantasy for both of them.

This was different. Now they were back at Prism, where Wallace had been a client, paying Volt to be his Daddy.

He had agreed to hang out while Volt did some mechanical work.

What were the rules now?

Did Volt want him to leave?

The car door opened beside him, making him jump. Volt had somehow already hopped out of the car on his side and come around to Wallace’s door.

“Hey, creampuff,” Volt crooned, dropping in for a kiss on his cheek.

That was all it took. Wallace was melting again. “Hey, Daddy,” he replied, voice thick.

If Volt still wanted him, that was all that he needed.

He could really do this… he hoped.

He let Volt manhandle him out of the car, giving a squeak—a very mature, adult squeak—when Volt squeezed his ass.

Wallace loved it… but he still glared in mock exasperation.

Volt chuckled, his eyes full of so much adoration that Wallace couldn’t help but smile shyly back. “I couldn’t help myself. And you’re so cute when you squeak.”

Wallace rolled his eyes, but inside he was bubbling with happiness. The words weren’t new, but hearing them as Volt’s boyfriend made them different. More.

If it was an illusion, he didn’t want it to end.

Hell, even if Volt was just using him for his money—which was still a possibility he had to consider, even if Volt had denied it to his face—he would still take every minute of attention he could get.

But he was starting to believe that this was real. That Volt wanted him for him.

He tilted his head up, testing out his newfound boyfriend skills of begging for a kiss.

Volt didn’t disappoint, first tasting his lips, and then pinning him against the car. They made out like teenagers, until he was whimpering and panting, giving up control to his Daddy’s ravenous tongue.

Until time spun out, and there was only him and Daddy, in all the universe. Until he was lost in Daddy’s arms, feeling small and sexy and adored.

He blinked as they broke apart from the kiss, finally looking around. Since Volt had completely darkened the car windows, he was surprised to find that the car had parked itself in an alley between a dark blue van that was showing its age and a surprisingly clean dumpster.

A small sign with instructions for delivery drivers on the wall finally tipped him off that this was Prism’s back entrance.

Wow. It was kind of weird and cool, coming in the back door, like he was seeing the secrets of the place. The service entrance also meant he wasn’t a customer, which sent a completely ridiculous thrill through him.

He decided he liked the cracked cement steps and clean brick walls better than the red velvet and mood lighting of the lounge. It wasn’t as glamorous, but it was real.

He was really doing this. With his very real boyfriend.

Volt looked off into the distance, a gesture that Wallace was starting to associate with him looking something up on the internet. Then he chuckled. “Angel says we look freshly fucked.”

Wallace blushed, hiding himself in Volt’s chest. “He’s watching us?” Angel managed the front desk and the customers at Prism so it shouldn’t have surprised him, but he wasn’t quite ready to encounter anyone else. Especially not someone who Volt considered family.

“We can both see all the security feeds at any time.”

Great.

They were freshly fucked, or at least Wallace was. Volt had practically sucked his brains out through his dick and then mauled him with delicious kisses up against the car. But that didn’t mean he wanted Volt’s big brother to know it.

“Angel likes you,” Volt said. “He’s just giving me a hard time.”

Angel liked him? That was news. Or maybe Volt was just saying that.

Wallace shouldn’t be scared of the intimidatingly attractive Angel, but he couldn’t help it.

Angel had been nice so far, but Wallace had been a customer every time they’d interacted before.

Wallace had been burned too many times to trust that the superficial friendliness of a business interaction meant something more.

And he’d had too many people with that same easy charisma turn it against him.

Of course, Volt was also attractive beyond words… but he was safe. He was Daddy.

The close, familial relationship between the two of them made it even worse. If Angel turned against Wallace, would Volt do the same?

Angel had seemed glad that Volt and Wallace were dating when he teased Volt in his phone call this morning, so that was good. Wallace just wasn’t sure how to feel about Angel warning him away from hurting Volt.

Could Volt really be hurt so easily? And what would Angel do to him if he messed up?

Wallace would just have to hope that Angel could accept him, too. Hopefully he could just avoid him today. He didn’t want to think about anyone but Volt right now. Worrying about disappointing his Daddy was enough without panicking over disappointing someone else, too.

Volt led the way up a few steps to a loading dock, while Wallace clung to his side. Was Angel still watching them?

An industrial metal door swung open at Volt’s approach, either at a mental command he gave it or responding automatically to his digital signature.

They walked through a bland gray hallway with a few boxes stacked against one wall.

There was nothing at all interesting about it, yet Wallace was fascinated.

This was Volt’s real life, behind all of the glitz and velvet of the lounge.

“So, here’s the kitchen.”

It was surprisingly mundane. And… human.

The walls were a cheerful yellow, and the old scarred table was real wood.

Four chairs sat around it, looking like they got frequent use.

A chefbot, one of the lower-end models with only two simultaneous preparation angles, was stirring something that smelled delicious. Maybe chicken soup?

“Are you hungry?” Volt asked.

Wallace shook his head. He was still full from lunch… and a little floaty after coming his brains out on the drive over.

The only thing he really wanted was to be near Volt.
