18. Volt #2
He thought about everything that he’d experienced.
Their dates. Their special moments. Everything that had happened, falling in love with Wallace.
For a moment, he wondered if it could all be a hoax.
Would he even know if it had been? Just the thought of it made him feel violated and dirty.
With technology like that, and the price that Wallace would have been able to hypothetically pay for it, there was a chance that he wouldn’t have even known it was happening.
“I mean, he physically pushed the nickel drive into my hand,” Wallace continued, “but I told him to fuck off. I technically put the thing into my pocket because I just wanted him to get away from me, and it was easier than giving it back. But I certainly didn’t scan the back and pay to activate it. ” Wallace gave a little shudder.
Okay, fine. Fine. That was… well, it was creepy as fuck. But mostly it was horrifying to imagine such a thing in the world, even if Wallace hadn’t intended to use it.
“Do you still have the nickel?” Angel asked, practical while Volt was still reeling from imagining the atrocious possibilities.
“Oh, I wish I’d thought of that. I should have turned it in to someone. But I lost it a long time ago. Hopefully my cleaningbot threw it in the trash or it fell down the sewer.”
“What did it look like?”
“Um, pink with a red heart in the middle. No logo, just the scan thing to activate it. If there were any words or numbers, I don’t remember them.”
“Sounds pretty generic,” Angel agreed, while Volt only half-listened, still frozen.
“Daddy?” Wallace stroked Volt’s cheek, concern etched across his darling face.
“I would never do that to you, Daddy. You know that, right? I might have thought about it for half a second, because I was hurt and angry, and I wanted something special with you, but mostly I wanted to run it through the garbage disposal. I could never have fallen in love with a fake-you when the real you is everything I ever dreamed of.”
Volt tried to slow his tumbling thoughts, sucking in a gasping, unnecessary breath while his fans worked overtime to cool his circuits.
If Colton Alexander was selling takeover mods then he—or whoever he worked for—could be the ones who were targeting Prism. Or perhaps the other way around. If Colton was hanging around near Prism, he might have helped their harassers. Especially since they’d kicked him out last spring.
They hadn’t found any nickel drives on the broken sexbots, but they could have been installed and then removed once some nefarious code was introduced.
And Wallace had just announced his love.
Volt honestly didn’t know which one to concentrate on right now, his sub-routines going off in a thousand different directions and then crashing back into each other.
“This is real, Daddy,” Wallace said earnestly, and maybe a little frantically. “I promise. I love you. I would never do anything to harm you.”
Volt sucked in yet another breath. Fuck. It was just so much input all at once.
Colton was a danger.
But Wallace was here in his lap. Right now. And looking increasingly worried.
“You love me?” Volt asked, sounding like an idiot.
“And that’s my cue…” Angel interrupted. “Bye, you love birds.”
Fuck. Volt had forgotten that Angel was still on the line.
Wallace looked away, like he’d forgotten, too, then back at Volt, looking nervous this time. “I mean… it’s probably too soon to say it. It’s not like I even…”
Volt looked into those deep brown eyes, and suddenly the decision was easy. He willfully shut off every process that was examining motives and timelines, connections and attacks.
Wallace was his everything.
He pressed a finger to Wallace’s plump, pink lips, stopping the flow of words.
He could get lost memorizing every expression, every wrinkle of his brow.
“I love you too, creampuff,” he said, willing Wallace to hear just how much he meant it.
“And I trust you. The mod freaked me out for a minute, but never you. I love you.” He said it again, just to hear the words.
He wanted to say it a thousand times. He wanted to shout it from the rooftops.
The moment hung between them, delicate as a butterfly and lush with possibilities. Volt wanted to memorize it, and he started recording, committing it to audio-visual storage to enhance his own experience.
“Say it again, creampuff,” he whispered.
Wallace gazed back up at him with equal awe in his eyes. Like he was the lucky one, when truly it was Volt. “I love you, Daddy.”
“I love you, too, baby girl,” he said, probably sounding inane, but he didn’t care. His circuits were tingling, like champagne was bubbling and fizzing all through his body.
“Daddy,” Wallace begged, the simple word encompassing all of his longing and everything between them.
Volt couldn’t hold back any longer.
He wanted to lose himself in his sweet sub.
He suddenly remembered that they were still in a moving car heading toward a busy public park, and he sent a mental nudge to the vehicle to find somewhere off the main roads and pull over.
Nothing else mattered. Not their plans for the evening.
Not the disappointment of the bank loan.
Not the terror of possibly putting a face to the stress of the past few years or the logistics of reporting Colton fucking Alexander to the police, though Angel had probably done it already.
He wanted to forget his awful day.
He wanted to dream of the future.
And he wanted to absolutely ruin his perfect, perfect boyfriend.
He cradled Wallace’s head, gripping his hair to get that wet, pink mouth exactly where he wanted it before leaning in for a kiss.
Wallace whimpered at the show of dominance, opening his mouth readily and yielding to the rough plundering. Volt wanted to feast on his lips. To devour every little moan and gasp.
Wallace clung to him, looking dazed and wanton, but then he surprised Volt by pushing back.
Before Volt could ask, Wallace put a finger to his lips, a mirror of the gesture that Volt had used just moments before. Of course, Volt had another pair of speakers hidden under his hair, and a third, lower-quality pair in his torso as a back-up, but the action was symbolic.
Volt raised an eyebrow, asking the silent question.
“Daddy, I want you to tell me one of your fantasies.”
Volt cocked his head to the side. Hadn’t he told Wallace all of his fantasies? That was how their whole relationship had started, in fact, with Wallace timid and confused, letting Volt introduce him gently to the world of kink by describing his own desires.
Yet Wallace still hadn’t moved his cute, plump finger from Volt’s lips.
“No, Daddy. I want you to really think about it. In fact, I want you to be selfish. I want you to think of what would bring you the most pleasure right now, and then I’m going to do it.” Wallace’s blush rose even as he said the words, which only made his confidence more charming.
Volt’s heart swelled in a whole new way, bursting with pride at his bashful sub’s growth over just a few months.
