28. Volt #2
“Well, he offered me a raise and then he said he was going to ruin my chances at any other job.” Wallace was outright laughing now, barely catching his breath.
“And he called me son and a Wollencroft, neither of which is exactly a compliment even if he thinks it is, and he also called me a quitter and a pansy.”
Volt hugged him tighter. “My beautiful, brave pansy. So proud of you.”
“Oh, and I told his personal assistant that if she was going to sleep with him, she should at least make him pay for a new car and her kids’ private school. Or just dump him.” Wallace’s eyes gleamed. “I think she’s going to dump him.”
“Creampuff, you are magnificent.” He smacked a resounding kiss on his gorgeous mouth.
Wallace sighed happily as they broke apart.
“I forgot to mention that you’re a spark and a sexbot, but I’m sure he’ll figure it out soon enough if I ever let him speak to me again.
” Wallace let out another happy giggle. “Actually, I told him I’d invite him to our wedding.
Not that we’re planning a wedding yet or anything.
” Wallace’s cheeks went pink, his lashes fluttering down. “But can you imagine his face?”
Volt’s memory crashed and had to recalibrate. Wallace was talking about marriage? Would he even want that? With, well, a spark and a sexbot, as he’d just proclaimed?
Part of Volt wanted to crow with joy. Wallace wanted a wedding. Not today, of course, but Volt could already imagine choosing the ring, something pink and sparkly. Something to match the collar that Volt hadn’t yet managed to find the right time to give him.
He would propose at the best restaurant in town.
No, better yet, he’d decorate the lounge at Prism, set it all up fancy for a date, and then make sure that Magnolia and Angel could be there.
He could see the future stretched out in front of him.
The answer to all of his dreams. His pretty pansy in a frilly gown, walking down the aisle.
Or maybe in a cute white tux. Whatever his baby wanted.
Volt would make him the happiest person on the planet.
Or maybe Wallace had just said all of that to shove it in his father’s face.
That was far more likely.
They hadn’t been together for even a year.
And there were still so many opportunities for Wallace to outgrow him.
“Whatever you want,” Volt promised him, feeling breathless for all that he didn’t need to breathe. “Now, what should we do tonight to celebrate your new freedom?” He kissed along Wallace’s neck, changing the subject to something he could manage and putting the wedding dreams far, far away.
“Not free till Friday,” Wallace protested, moaning as he tilted his neck, offering it up.
“Doesn’t matter,” Volt declared. “I’m taking my baby girl out on the town.” He squeezed Wallace’s ass, his hands gliding over the thin fabric of the leggings Wallace had chosen. “Are you going to wear this delicious little number?”
“I, ah…” Wallace’s face wrinkled. “Maybe not tonight? I mean… God, I know I shouldn’t be worried about anyone seeing me like this, and that it’s fine and all, but…” His face fell. “I just don’t want to hear anyone’s opinions tonight.”
Volt gave him a kiss, cutting off his words. “We move at your pace, always. I think you’re the most beautiful girl in the world, and I want to show you off, but if all of this gorgeousness is only for me, I’ll still be a very lucky man.”
Wallace beamed up at him. Volt knew all of his creampuff’s doubts, the intrusive thoughts in the back of his head—put there by his asshole of a father, no doubt—but he was making progress all the time.
Maybe there was still a bit more Daddy-ing for Volt to do, as Wallace continued to come into his own.
“Then we’ll stay in,” Volt announced, kissing down Wallace’s creamy, exposed shoulder because he just couldn’t leave it alone. God, these off-the-shoulder sweaters would be the death of him. “How about I take you to the bedroom and have my wicked way with you while the chefbot makes dinner?”
“Oh!” Wallace moaned again as Volt left a little love bite right over his collar bone. “Ohhhhhhh, um, Daddy!” Volt suckled the mark he was leaving. “Could we, um, Daddy! Uh, to celebrate…”
Volt pulled back, just enough to gaze into Wallace’s warm brown eyes. “Yeah, baby. Tell Daddy what you want.” Anything. He would do it.
“Uh, so there’s this app. That, uh, models my body in different clothes. I was thinking maybe we could look at it together?”
Volt blinked. He hadn’t been thinking of any of that, but it sounded perfect, too. “Ahhh… Does my baby need Daddy to pick out something cute for this sexy body?”
“Yes, please, Daddy. Maybe something to wear in public? Uh, someday? And, uh, some naughtier clothes, too?”
Volt swept him into a kiss, completely owning his mouth until he was left gasping. “Yes, creampuff. That sounds like a perfect evening. God, just can’t get enough of you. But I want to see this app.”
He let Wallace slide to the floor. Even after all this time, it still surprised him sometimes that Wallace didn’t just want him for sex. “Shall we figure out dinner first?”
Wallace nodded. “Yeah. I’ll see what’s in the fridge. Or maybe order in? The app’s on a nickel drive in my bedroom. It was created by Maxamillion, actually. Or Oliver, now, I guess.”
“The knowledge that Orbit almost killed?” Volt felt a pang at that. He’d never known Maxamillion/Oliver, but it still hit close to home. And he knew the agony that Wallace had put himself through over it.
