Chapter 23 #2
His eyes soften. “We could have just subdued them and figured out exactly what they were here and what wanted. But we didn’t.
We ended them,” he says with a heavy sigh.
“There aren’t many good people in the Shadow Academy.
We never really cared about anyone else until you came along.
Being locked up for the last month made me think a lot about the Shadow Academy and its ethos and how the rest of the world is in comparison. ”
“But—”
“I’m not saying I trust Levington. Far fucking from it. But we were wrong. At least this time.” He gives me a little smile that does nothing to calm the myriad of emotions rushing through me.
Instead of focusing on how fucking angry and upset I am for what happened to them, I take his hand and funnel that energy into trying to send him healing like he does me, wanting—no needing his scars to be healed.
He stares down at my hand, his grip tightening on it when I feel the energy pass from me to him.
Seconds later his eyes widen. “You’re healing me.”
I narrow my eyes on him. “You knew the cuffs were going to hurt you, and yet you still tried to reach out to me.”
His eyes trace every inch of my face. “It hurt me way more thinking you were alone and sad.”
“You’re an idiot,” I tell him as I feel my energy pull back.
A sliver of relief sweeps through me as I move around him and check his back and neck to find smooth skin where the scars once were.
Loud talking and shouting sounds out from somewhere behind us and Theon grabs my hand and pulls me back toward the rotting building they’re staying in.
“You can’t stay here,” I tell him.
“It has running water and a bed.,” he replies. “That’s all I need.”
I point to the single bed nearest to me. “That bed looks like it’s about to break.”
“It’s pretty sturdy. Want to test it out?” He gives me a mischievous smile making me laugh a little and his whole face brightens.
“Where are the others?” I need to see them, to talk to them about everything.
“Out in the senior camp,” Theon says moving a step closer. “Technically I should be training too.”
His eyes trail down my body, and a frown forms. “I need to feed you more. You’ve lost too much weight.”
I roll my eyes at him. “I’ve been training.” Technically I’ve been pushing my body to its limits while trying not to think about them and how much I missed them.
But he really doesn’t need to know how much of a love-sick fool I was while they were gone. Especially since they were in a damn prison.
Something that instantly makes my blood boil.
His frown deepens and he stares at me like he doesn’t believe me.
Instead of trying to convince him with my words, I move quick, swipe his feet from under him and knock him on his ass.
He looks up at me with wide eyes full of mirth.
“What?” I smile. “You said you missed training. I thought you could use some help.”
The tension in the air practically evaporates as a wicked smile slowly spread across his face. Before I get the chance to figure out what he’s planning, his shadows whip out and knock me on my ass but cradle my head before I hit the ground.
Theon moves over me placing a hand each side of my head, holding himself up.
I open my mouth to ask him what he’s doing when he lowers his body into a push-up but grinds into me making me gasp before pulling back up and watching me with a dark, heated look.
“You’re right…” he breathes. “Training is important.” I feel the smirk at the side of my cheek as he drops down and grinds into me a little more making every fucking part of me heat up and come alive.
“I need to stay in shape,” he says while placing a kiss on my neck and jaw before pushing up once more and staring down at me with nothing but love in his eyes.
“I missed you,” I tell him, and his eyes soften.
“I fucking missed you, too,” he says. “Let’s not fight again.”
The next time he pushes down on me and grinds into me, I wrap my legs around him and roll my hips up into him.
“I don’t know…” I try to hide my little smirk. “I kind of like when we fight.”
He exhales sharply, his gaze darkening with heat. He dips down and slides his tongue along the seam of my lips before kissing me like he wants to breathe me in and never let me go.
But all too soon he pulls away. “Stay with me for a bit?” he asks, and I nod without question, not wanting to leave him either.
He gets up and carries me to one of the beds before laying down beside me. Sliding a hand under my head, he pulls me closer and presses a kiss to my brow.
“Let me just hold you for a bit,” he says with a sigh of contentment.
I stare at his face, memorizing every little detail as my body slowly starts to relax and my mind drifts to everything I just found out.
It’s only then does my brain quickly remind me that we still have a shit load of problems we need to deal with.
“We still need to figure out what to do with Levington,” I remind him. I thought I could trust him, but if he was able to so easily lie to them and hide everything from me, what else is he lying and keeping secrets about?
“We will,” he promises, pressing another kiss to my brow before pulling me closer and closing his eyes. “Together.”
