Chapter 26 #3
“What! No, I didn’t!” Opie almost fell off as he tried to stop, scrambling to his feet. “That is a lie! Total misunderstanding!” He straightened his outfit. “I was only making juice for you.”
Chirp!
“It is not like the cake blender incident.” He huffed. “That was also a total misunderstanding.”
“What the fuck?” Warwick’s deep voice came behind me, and I could feel his large hand gliding over my ass and up my back before he even touched me.
Our bond was solidly back in place. His body heat scored me as his head came over my shoulder, peering at the scene on the table, a small snort coming from him.
“Wolfy, the Impal-her!” Opie sang out, swishing his cape around him. He was high, but not as much as the other two.
Chirppppp! Bitzy wiggled her six fingers at Warwick with a high-pitched squeak, her eyes batting at him awkwardly.
“Dive bombing hairy biting ball bombs.” Cal scuttled behind a jar, covering his head. “Save yourself!”
“Are you taping this?” Ember glanced at Eli.
“Fuck, yes.” Eli had his mobile out, capturing it all, an evil smirk on his face. “After the glue antic he pulled last week? Sweet justice in the form of blackmail.”
I’d heard pixies were known pranksters, and it could get bad if it escalated.
“Oh!” Olek turned around from the stove, his hand going to his chest. “You startled me.” He tapped at his ear.
“My hearing is not what it used to be, I’m afraid.
” He grabbed the pot of oats, bringing it over to the table, nonplussed by the naked sub-fae on the table as if it was an everyday occurrence.
It might possibly be. This place struck me as the kind to have brownies and other sub-fae around.
“I will have breakfast ready in a few moments.”
“Thank you, Olek,” Ember replied. “I will get my naked friend off your table . . . once again.”
“Cal!” Simmons’s mechanical wings took him closer to where his buddy was. “Did you hear my lady? You need to get dressed. You swore you wouldn’t swim across Sir Olek’s table naked again.”
“Ahhhhh!” Cal screamed, looking up at Simmons, his eyes wide. He took off running, everything out and swinging. “We’re being invaded by motorized nutsacks. Run for your lives!” He dove into a bowl of sugar, trying to bury himself underneath.
“What the hell?” A woman’s voice interrupted the mayhem, jerking our heads back around.
Birdie strolled in, staring at the scene with disbelief.
She absently pulled her long blonde hair back in a ponytail, showing off the finger imprints and hickeys on her neck.
Caden was a distance behind her, as if he was trying to act like they didn’t come down together.
Though I could spot the fingernail scratches and bite marks covering his skin from here.
Their energy was palpable. Full of anger, disgust, and lust. I had no idea what really was going on between them, if it was more than sex, if Caden would let it be anything more.
He was stubborn, his ideals set, but if anyone could flip his world upside down, it was Birdie.
There was a moment I had a pang of jealousy.
Not that I wanted Caden or wanted him to love me.
It was more the final door closing on what had been.
The death of innocence. The bubble we had been in together.
The life I had dreamed of and believed I wanted with him.
It would never be the same ever again. Not even our friendship.
“Kovacs . . .” A gravelly voice scraped up the back of my neck. An invisible mouth grazed through my folds, making my body jerk. My head snapped to the real man, a smirk on his lips, an eyebrow cocking as if he knew exactly what I was thinking and wanted to remind me what I had.
I didn’t need the reminder. Warwick consumed every bit of me.
Our lives were linked and intertwined from the moment we both gasped for air.
When I dragged Warwick from death’s grip, claiming him as mine.
Even if I wouldn’t know him for years to come, I couldn’t live in a world he wasn’t in. Not for a moment.
I stole a Wolf from the grim reaper and made him a Legend.
From a few feet away, my tongue slid over the top of his cock, his frame jerking at my retaliation, feeling me take him deeper, his fingers digging into the wood of the table.
“Is this my Christmas present, Kovacs?”
I grinned at the real man as my shadow took him fully in my mouth, sucking harder. “Merry Christmas.”
“Fuck, I love this holiday now.”
I saw Ember shiver, sensing the change in the air. Eli’s eyes flashed red for a moment.
“Will you two take a fucking break?” Scorpion stomped into the room, his sour mood clouding around him, glaring at both of us.
The connection to him buzzed at my skin, telling me he could feel every nuance running between Warwick and me.
“Or seriously, I will kill you both,” he grumbled, nudging past me and swiping up one of the mugs Olek had put out for us.
He poured himself a cup of coffee, turning back to us.
“We are wasting time. We need to attack Istvan’s labs.
” His attention was set on every one of us with utter conviction.
“Tonight.”
