26. Husband #2
I don’t know what I said, not really, nor did I really want to know. I could feel the intensity of emotion behind it. I knew it would probably embarrass me when I remembered it later, but I couldn’t care about any of that right now. I just wanted him to stay.
I already knew he could hurt me. He knew it, too.
At some point I pushed him off me so I could put my mouth on him.
He went completely limp while I did it, groaning words at me and gripping my hair in both hands as he writhed on the bed. He’d been close to climaxing when he made me stop, and held me there, his hands wrapped around my head while he fought to calm down.
In the end, he couldn’t though, and released me again.
“Please,” he groaned. “I’m make it up to you. Please… gods, please…”
I relaxed that wall around my aura even more as I sucked on him again, and his magic flooded into mine until my vision completely whited out. He came so suddenly and so violently, I groaned against his cock while he bucked against me.
He never stopped gripping my hair in his hands.
He was shockingly gentle, though, surprisingly so.
He continued to curse and spasm as I sucked and licked him until he was spent.
When I ran my tongue over the head a last time, sucking lightly as I massaged his cock with my hands, his fingers clutched my hair and jaw tighter as he panted.
“Fuck. Who in the gods are you, and what have you done with my wife?” he groaned.
I tensed a little, not sure how to react to that.
If he noticed, he didn’t say anything to clarify what he meant.
He caressed my hair and then pulled me carefully off him.
He rolled me to my back, and then his mouth was between my thighs.
He held me down with his forearms, and then with his whole arm when he wrapped it around my waist. He kissed me slowly and deliberately, his mouth open, licking his tongue along me like he was starving.
His magic still wound through mine like it was trying to pull me inside of him.
I lasted even less long than he did.
It felt like I was building in minutes.
The difference was, he wouldn’t let me.
“Wait.” His voice came out deeper now, more of a heavy purr than a growl. “Wait. I want to feel all of it when you come. I want your cunt to squeeze my cock. Can you wait?”
I let out an agreeable, urgent sound, nodding as I stroked his hair.
He dragged himself back up my body and kissed my mouth, tasting like salt and like me, all trace of the smoke gone, except for a faint scent in his hair.
He wrapped his arms under and around me, pressing the length of our bodies together, and reached down to position his cock a second time.
I bit my lip that time in anticipation, whimpering, and he sank his teeth into my neck, hard enough to break the skin.
I whimpered again, somehow even more turned on.
“That fucking sound you make.” He groaned against my skin, closing his eyes. “Gods, Leda. If I find out you’ve made that sound with anyone other than me these last few months, I might lose my mind for real…”
My fingers clenched on the back of his neck as I scowled at him, and something about my expression made him laugh.
His mouth turned softer again as he leaned down to kiss me, licking and biting and sucking until he lulled me back into relaxing against him.
He was still kissing me when he angled into me again, slamming his lower body into mine.
He began rocking rhythmically into me, harder and deeper each time, until I lost all sense of where I was.
He built me slower that time, moving with a deliberateness that made me feel like I was losing my mind. When I finally came apart, my whole body bucked up against his violently as my cunt spasmed, milking his cock.
He came a second time before I’d finished, and I felt a dense satisfaction on him when I began spasming around him all over again before he’d finished. He purred words against my ear as I continued to buck, and that only made it worse.
“Pretty, pretty witch,” I heard him murmur. “That’s right, fuck me. Don’t hold back. Gods, I missed you so much. You are so beautiful, wife…”
I wrapped my arms around his waist, closed my eyes against his chest.
By the time I was coming back to the room, he’d shifted us both partly to our sides, without loosening his grip on me at all. His arms remained tight around my back, his hands wrapped around my ribs and the back of my head.
The words he was saying gradually began to reach my ears again.
I remained confused, even when I could make sense of them.
“You really are going to make me lose my mind,” he murmured, kissing my throat, then my jaw, then my face.
“Fucking evil, dark-hearted witch… you’re going to kill me.
You’re going to actually kill me…” He stroked the hair out of my face, kissing me again.
“Maybe that’s your evil witch plan,” he teased quietly.
“Really, maybe that would be the best thing for everyone, a service to Magical kind, not to mention our human ancestors.” He kissed the side of my mouth, nuzzling my face.
“I’d do it myself if I could be sure I wouldn’t take you with me… ”
I smacked him on the back, and he winced.
He winced enough that I could tell it had really hurt him. I realized in the same instant I’d hit him on the same side where his uniform had been bloody.
That got me to open my eyes, and to stare at that part of his skin.
A bruise was darkening and spreading on the whole right side of his chest. A jagged hole marked the center of the wound, obviously the source of at least a good amount of that blood. He watched me look at him, lying there unmoving, as if indulging me.
“Crossbow,” he said, when I didn’t speak.
He made a straight, arrow-like movement with his hand towards his chest.
“From a window. When we got down to that town you saw me near.”
My throat closed, but I only nodded, stroking the area of his skin near the outer edge of the darkening bruise.
“They weren’t much of a shot,” he added off-handedly. “They got the whole wrong side of my chest.” He indicated the left side of his upper torso, which was untouched apart from a few older scars, and a much lighter bruise that was almost gone.
“You mean your heart?” I asked, my voice taut. “You mean because they missed shooting you in the fucking heart… killing you… they must be a lousy shot?”
He shrugged, leaning his head back on his arm.
“Not many have gotten that close,” he allowed. “Not many likely well again. Not anytime soon, at least. Father dearest was right pissed off when he heard.” Bones turned his head, studying my eyes openly. “He killed two of my guards before we left.”
I bit my lip, feeling sick to my stomach.
I didn’t have a good answer, though.
“Aren’t you going to ask me what I was doing there?” he asked, his voice verging on cold again. “What I did to the people of that town? Don’t you want to know, Leda? What kind of wizard your husband is?”
I stared back at him, without lowering my eyes.
“I already know who you are,” I said, equally cold. “I don’t want to know what you were doing there, or who your father made you kill.”
His fingers tightened in my hair. He forced me to look at him.
“No,” he said, all feeling leeching out of his eyes. “You really don’t, Leda.”
I watched him wince as he bent down to pick up the black shirt from where we’d left it on the floor. He walked over to the area of the fire to toss it on the back of the leather couch until he could finish fastening the front of his trousers.
He’d taken a shower, padding naked into the lavatory without a word, and not emerging for another forty or so minutes.
The whole time he was in there, I felt his magic pulling on me, coaxing mine, asking me to follow him.
He hadn’t asked me though, and when I ventured a question towards his conscious mind, I got an immediate no.
I could feel him trying to close himself off to me again.
I fought not to think about that, or about what he’d said to me earlier. I couldn’t let myself wonder if he meant it, or if that had been the desperation of his magic talking, too. I couldn’t think about any of that yet.
Anyway, it didn’t matter now.
He was clearly leaving.
“You’re going back?” I asked, knowing the answer.
He didn’t look over. “Yes.”
“Did Malefic send you?” I asked, watching him fasten his belt. “To me, I mean?”
I’d been cataloguing the new scars on his back while he had it turned towards me, lit by the orange and red firelight.
I’d already looked at the new gold tattoo in the center of his chest from the ritual Blackstone and I witnessed.
When Bones turned to look at me, I saw his jaw tick when he saw where I’d been staring.
He slowly straightened, his shirt now gripped in his hand. He untangled it enough to shove an arm in one sleeve, then the other. He didn’t look at me as he shouldered it all the way on, his face unmoving.
“Do you really need me to answer that?” he asked flatly.
“Yes,” I said.
Bones stared at me a few seconds longer, then let out a sigh.
“He’s been telling me to come and deal with the problem since you showed up in his house,” he replied, his words blunt, matter-of-fact.
“Before that, really. He suggested it not long after I came to be staying with him. He seems to have resigned himself to the fact that he’ll need help keeping his pet dragon in check… or at least remotely sane.”
