Chapter 3
Friday Dinner
Friday arrived slower than Grace expected and faster than she was ready for.
Thursday had been ordinary on purpose. She bought groceries.
She folded laundry. She answered Paul’s questions about weekend plans with calm interest.
At lunch she met Chloe at a cafe two streets over, where no one from Maple Court usually went, and they talked about everything except Ben for twenty full minutes before giving up.
“I keep counting hours,” Chloe admitted over iced coffee.
“Me too,” Grace said. “It feels stupid and addictive at the same time.”
“Because it is both.”
They agreed again on the rules. Dinner first. No automatic assumption of sex. If either woman felt off, they would leave together. Ben already knew.
At six thirty on Friday, Grace stood in front of her mirror in a deep green dress that she had not worn in over a year.
It fit closer than her usual clothes. She put on simple earrings and left her hair down.
Paul was working late again, a regional call that would run past nine.
He had kissed her goodbye that morning and told her to enjoy her evening with Chloe.
The kindness in it twisted something in her chest.
Chloe picked her up so they could walk the last stretch together. Chloe wore black pants and a soft rose blouse with the top buttons open. She looked polished and nervous.
“You look beautiful,” Chloe said.
“So do you.”
“If I start spiraling, squeeze my hand.”
“Same.”
Ben opened the door in dark jeans and a white shirt, sleeves rolled, collar open. The house smelled like garlic, tomatoes, and fresh bread. Music played low from speakers in the kitchen.
“You came,” he said, smiling without triumph.
“We said we would,” Grace answered.
He stepped aside. “Then let me feed you before anyone decides anything else.”
Dinner was simple and good. Pasta, salad, warm bread, a bottle of red wine they all shared slowly.
Conversation stayed light at first. Ben told a story about a wedding shoot that had gone wrong in funny ways.
Chloe talked about a client from her part-time design work.
Grace described a book she had been reading and then laughing at herself for sounding too careful.
By the second glass, the carefulness loosened.
“Can I ask something direct?” Ben said.
Grace nodded. Chloe did too.
“When you are home with your husbands, do you feel guilty, free, both, or something else?”
Chloe set her fork down. “Both. Guilty because I am hiding. Free because for once I am not shrinking.”
Grace stared at her plate. “I feel split. Like there are two versions of me living in one body. The version that packs lunches and remembers birthdays, and the version that came here tonight already wet from thinking about it.”
Ben did not smirk. He only listened. “Which version is sitting at my table right now?”
“Both,” Grace said. “But the second one is louder.”
Chloe reached under the table and found Grace’s knee. “Mine too.”
Ben refilled their water more than their wine. “Good. Stay clear.”
After dinner they moved to the living room. No one rushed. Grace sat on the couch. Chloe curled close beside her. Ben took the opposite end at first, giving space. The air between them thickened anyway.
“I keep thinking about Wednesday,” Chloe said. “Not just the sex. The way it felt to be honest out loud.”
“That honesty is what I want more of,” Ben said. “Not performance.”
Grace turned toward him. “Then I will be honest. I want you tonight. I want Chloe with us. I want it slower than last time in some ways and filthier in others. And I want to leave still respecting myself.”
Ben’s gaze held hers. “All of that is possible.”
Chloe exhaled a shaky laugh. “I want Grace to tell me what to do to you. And I want you to tell me what to do to her. I like being directed when I trust the people directing me.”
Grace blinked. “You never said that before.”
“I am saying it now.”
Ben moved closer, still not touching until invited. “We can do that. Safe words stay simple. Red means full stop. Yellow means slow down or change. Green means keep going. Say them if you need them. Nodding is not enough if something feels wrong. Use words.”
“Red, yellow, green,” Grace repeated. “Understood.”
Chloe nodded. “Understood.”
Ben extended his hand, palm up. “Who starts?”
Grace took his hand and placed it on her thigh. “I do.”
She guided his fingers under the hem of her dress. He found bare skin and then the damp heat of her underwear. His eyes flicked up.
“No barrier dress code tonight?” he asked softly.
“I wanted fewer delays,” Grace said.
Chloe made a low sound of approval and leaned in to kiss Grace while Ben stroked her through the fabric.
Grace opened her mouth to Chloe and her legs to Ben.
The dual attention made her melt into the couch.
When Ben finally slipped beneath the cotton and touched her directly, she broke the kiss to breathe his name.
“Green,” she whispered. “More.”
He gave her more, slow circles, then two fingers easing inside while his thumb stayed on her clit. Chloe unbuttoned Grace’s dress down the front and freed her breasts, lowering her mouth to one nipple. Grace arched, caught between them, pleasure climbing fast.
“Do not let her come yet,” Chloe told Ben, lifting her head. “I want her desperate first.”
Ben slowed at once. Grace whimpered in protest and then laughed at herself.
“That is evil.”
“That is fun,” Chloe said, kissing her jaw. “Trust me.”
They edged her carefully. Ben would bring her close, then ease off.
Chloe would whisper filthy encouragement and then tell him to wait.
Grace’s thighs trembled. Her dress was open, body displayed without shame.
When they finally let her finish, she came hard enough that her vision speckled, crying out into Chloe’s mouth.
Ben withdrew his hand and licked his fingers without looking away from them. “Your turn, Chloe. Grace, tell her what to do.”
Grace, still catching her breath, pointed to the rug. “Kneel. Take your blouse off. Let him watch while you touch yourself. Slowly. No rushing to finish.”
Chloe’s eyes lit. She obeyed at once, stripping the rose blouse and her bra, kneeling on the soft rug in only her pants. She opened the button and zipper, slid her hand inside, and stroked herself while Ben and Grace watched. Her breathing turned uneven. Her free hand braced on her own thigh.
“Two fingers,” Grace said. “Show us.”
Chloe pushed her pants lower and did as told, hips rocking. Ben’s jaw tightened. Grace felt power and tenderness braid together in her chest.
“Ben,” Grace said, “take the rest of her clothes off. Put your mouth on her. Do not let her come until she asks properly.”
Ben moved behind Chloe, stripped her carefully, and laid her back on the rug. He spread her legs and lowered his head. Chloe gasped at the first long lick. Grace sat on the couch above them, dress still open, one hand in Chloe’s hair.
“How does she taste?” Grace asked.
Ben lifted his mouth just enough to answer. “Sweet. Ready.”
“Then do not stop.”
He did not. Chloe writhed, hands fisting the rug, moans rising. When she tried to chase climax too fast, Grace told Ben to ease off. Chloe cursed softly and then begged.
“Please. Please let me come. Green, so green. Please.”
Grace nodded at Ben. “Now.”
Ben sealed his mouth over her and worked her with focused hunger until Chloe broke, thighs clamping around his head, voice raw. Grace stroked her hair through it, whispering that she was perfect, that she was safe, that she was wanted.
When Chloe went limp, Ben kissed the inside of her knee and looked up at Grace.
“What next?”
Grace stood, let the dress fall completely, and stepped out of her underwear. “Bedroom. Both of you. I want him inside me while I hold Chloe. Then I want to watch him take her while I touch myself. After that, we see what is left of us.”
Ben rose and offered each woman a hand. “Yes, ma’am.”
In the bedroom he undressed fully. Chloe recovered enough to help roll the condom onto him with deliberate hands. Grace climbed onto the bed first, on her back. Chloe stretched beside her. Ben settled between Grace’s legs and entered her in one slow thrust that made her gasp.
“Look at me,” Chloe whispered to Grace. “Stay with me while he fucks you.”
Grace kept her eyes on Chloe’s while Ben moved.
The intimacy of that eye contact made every stroke deeper somehow.
Chloe kissed her, touched her breasts, slid a hand down to rub Grace’s clit in time with Ben’s thrusts.
Grace came with a broken cry, clutching Chloe’s shoulder hard enough to leave faint marks.
Ben slowed but did not withdraw until Grace pushed at him gently.
“Chloe now,” Grace said. “I want to see her face when you fill her.”
Chloe rolled onto her stomach, then pushed up onto elbows and knees. “Like this. Deep.”
Ben sheathed himself in a fresh condom at Grace’s reminder, then gripped Chloe’s hips and sank into her.
Chloe moaned into the mattress. Grace sat close, one hand on Chloe’s back, the other between her own legs, touching herself while she watched.
The sight of Ben’s body working into her best friend should have shattered her.
Instead it inflamed her. She rubbed faster, shameless.
“Harder,” Chloe gasped. “I can take it. Green.”
Ben gave her harder, controlled still, never careless.
The sound of skin and breath filled the room.
Grace came again from watching alone. Chloe followed soon after, shaking, face turned sideways on the sheet so Grace could see every second of it.
Ben lasted only a few thrusts more before he finished with a low groan, buried deep, hands gentle even at the end.
They collapsed together in a sweaty tangle. For a long while the only sound was cooling breath and the faint music still playing from the living room.
Ben eventually cleaned up, brought water, and pulled a sheet over their legs. Grace lay between them, one hand on Chloe’s waist, the other on Ben’s chest.
“That was more than dinner,” Chloe said weakly.
Grace laughed, quiet and real. “We were never going to stop at dinner.”
Ben turned his head on the pillow. “Any yellows or reds I missed?”
“No,” Grace said.
“No,” Chloe echoed. “Only green.”
They stayed until almost nine. Grace knew she needed to be home before Paul. Reality began pressing back in at the edges, polite and inevitable.
In the shower they took turns rinsing off, kissing under warm water without starting another full round. Chloe washed Grace’s hair with tender fingers. Ben soaped Chloe’s back and then Grace’s. It felt domestic in a way that scared Grace more than the sex had.
Dressed again, they stood by the front door.
“Same check-in rule,” Ben said. “Tomorrow morning. Honest answers only.”
Chloe kissed his cheek. “We will.”
Grace kissed his mouth once, soft. “Thank you for not making us feel cheap.”
“You are not cheap,” Ben said simply. “You are choosing.”
Outside, the night air was cool. Grace and Chloe walked in silence for half a block before Chloe spoke.
“I think I could fall for him.”
Grace’s steps slowed. “I know.”
“Does that ruin this?”
“Only if we lie about it.” Grace looked at her. “I could fall too. For him. And deeper for you in a way I did not plan.”
Chloe stopped under a streetlight. “What are we becoming?”
Grace had no clean answer. “Something that will not fit in our old lives forever.”
“And for now?”
“For now we are two women who had dinner and told the truth with their bodies. We go home. We sleep. We decide again tomorrow.”
Chloe nodded, eyes wet but steady. “Tomorrow.”
At Grace’s house they hugged hard. Chloe left for her own door. Grace went inside, changed into pajamas, washed her face, and checked her phone.
Paul: Heading home now. Should be there by 9:40. Miss you.
Grace stared at the message until the screen dimmed.
She typed back: Drive safe. I am here.
It was true. She was there. She was also elsewhere, stretched across a secret that no longer felt like a one-night mistake. It felt like a door that kept opening.
When Paul arrived, she met him with a genuine kiss and asked about his call. She listened. She cared. That part of her had not died. It had only learned it was no longer the whole story.
Later, after he slept, she texted Chloe and Ben in their shared thread.
Home safe. No regrets tonight. Scared for what this becomes. Still all in for now.
Chloe replied first: Same.
Ben followed: Rest. We go carefully. You both matter more than the heat.
Grace set the phone aside and closed her eyes.
Friday dinner was over.
Whatever they were building had only begun.
