Epilogue
AUDREY
I stare at my computer screen and try really hard to ignore the shadow that passes by my office door. I roll my eyes because I know in three more seconds, another shadow is going to pass by. These two men are driving me crazy.
I look down at the marketing plan on my screen and try to focus, but then Bennett’s head appears around the doorway. When I look at him, he smiles.
I glare, and he slowly walks away.
I look back at my computer and try to focus on work, but not even a minute goes by before Knox is slowly walking by my office door again.
I reach for the intercom on my desk and push the button. “Bennett and Knox. Get in here.”
Both men walk in mere seconds later. I stare at them. “You were standing outside my door?”
Knox shrugs, and Bennett shakes his head. “No.”
Knox gives him a look. “Don’t lie to her.”
Bennett grimaces. “Fine, yes, we were standing by your door.”
I lean back in my chair. “What are you two doing?”
“Nothing,” Bennett says.
Knox looks at me. “Are you okay?”
Bennett sits down in one of the vacant chairs by my desk. “Do you need anything?”
Knox stands beside my desk, his eyebrows drawn together. “Have you eaten?”
Bennett looks down at my feet. “You should probably put your feet up.”
My mouth falls open. These two are ridiculous.
Knox gestures toward the door. “Do you want to go home?”
I stare at both of them and shake my head. “No.”
Bennett’s forehead creases. “You sure?”
I push back from my desk and stand as both men move toward me at the same time.
I hold up a hand. “Stop.”
They stop, but they’re both holding their hands out as if they’re expecting me to fall or something. I put my hands on my hips. “I am four months pregnant.”
Knox smiles. “We know. Four months and twenty days.”
I roll my eyes. “You guys have got to settle down. We have months of this, and you’re both treating me like I’m an invalid.”
Bennett crosses his arms over his chest. “You’re carrying our baby.”
I look at the marks I’ve made on my calendar. “You two have checked on me approximately forty-seven times today.”
Knox looks at me. “You’re keeping track?”
I point at him. “It was sixty-five times yesterday.”
He looks at Bennett with disgust. “We’re slacking.”
I try to stay annoyed, but it’s hard. These two men love me, and they don’t just say it, they show it in everything they do.
A year ago, I was terrified of my own last name.
I never felt safe, but my life has completely changed since I became a Kingston.
I have a job I love, two men that love me, a father-in-law that dotes on me now, a mother-in-law that just enjoys being with me, a brother, and a sister-in-law that treats me like I’ve been in her family forever.
I couldn’t ask for a better life than the one that Bennett and Knox have given me.
I rest my hand over the small swell of my stomach, and both of their eyes drop to it immediately.
We don’t know which one of them is the biological father, and we will probably never know. It doesn’t matter because this baby will have two dads that love him or her.
Knox walks toward me and places his hand over mine. “You tired?”
“No.”
Bennett steps up on my other side. “Hungry?”
I roll my eyes. “No. We just ate.”
Knox’s forehead creases. “Are you nauseous?”
I shake my head. “No.”
Bennett lifts a shoulder. “Do you want some water?”
I stare at him.
He smiles.
I shake my head. “Do you understand what I mean when I say we cannot keep doing this?”
Knox leans down and presses a kiss to my temple. “No.”
Bennett nods. “Not really.”
I laugh because how can I not? They both smile like that was what they were waiting for.
Bennett puts his hand at my back. “Come on.”
I go with him easily. “Where are we going?” I ask, even though I already know.
Since I’ve become pregnant, I’ve been working half days.
I usually come in in the morning, and by midday, they make some excuse to feed me and then we all end up at home.
I usually end up napping, and the guys do the rest of their workday from home.
“Home,” Bennett says.
I roll my eyes, and Knox grabs my purse and tote bag, shoving my laptop and planner in it. I watch them both take care of me, rubbing my hand over my stomach. “You know you guys are going to have to let up a little bit, right?”
Knox smiles his playful smile and tilts his head. “But do we really? Tell me that you don’t enjoy going home, each of us giving you an orgasm and then taking a nap.”
I can’t even lie about it. The orgasms are nice. Bennett leans down and kisses me softly. Knox brushes his hand over my belly. I grab both of their hands. Sometimes it’s hard to put into words how I feel. Love you is not enough, but it is for them. “I love you… the both of you.”
They both smile as if hearing me say the words makes their whole day.
Knox grins cheekily. “Oh, she wants double the orgasms today.”
Bennett pulls me into his side. “We can do that.”
I look between them. “I have no doubt you can.”
I let them lead me out of the offices and into the SUV. I no longer have to look over my shoulder and wonder if there is someone out to get me. Now all I focus on are the two men at my side and how lucky I am to have them.
