Chapter 2
CHAPTER TWO
SKEETER
Islept for a few hours that night, waking up in a cold sweat from nightmares. It had been the same the previous night too, dreaming of walking in on Rory between Marco and Hunter, telling me to leave because she’d never given a fuck about me.
I was surprised I’d made it through the first day, and I’d avoided people because of it, but when I wanted answers, I knew the only person that would give it to me straight was Caden.
So, he’d crashed at mine last night. We hadn’t really talked, but it was obvious he was feeling as pissed off as me, so we fumed together over a beer.
At least one of them seemed angry about our girl fucking the enemy behind our backs. The other three I just wanted to punch for taking it so lightly. Hell, Tyler probably fucking knew. He’d gotten close with Hunter and Marco, so he’d probably been more than happy to let them play with her.
Looking at the clock, I could see it was six in the morning, so I swung my feet out of bed and had a shower, finding Caden in the kitchen with coffee when I emerged.
“I think Ty fucking knew,” he yawned, making me pause halfway through making my coffee.
“Me too. Why do you think that though?”
He snorted, holding up a news article with a blurry photo. It was definitely Tyler, I could recognize his car in the picture, and it was obvious he was with Hunter and Marco as they entered Wet Dreams together.
“What the fuck is he doing?” I growled as he dropped his phone down onto the table.
“I don’t know. He’s gotten close to Marco, they play Xbox together most nights now. He didn’t tell us about Slash and Rory, so do you think he knew she was hooking up with Hunter and Marco and didn’t say anything?”
“Chances are high. If Hunter and Marco have their hooks in him, he’d be an easy puppet. He’s so desperate to fit in that he’d do whatever they wanted.”
“I can’t fucking believe her,” he spat, and I was glad to have someone on my side with this.
I finished making coffee, joining him at the table.
“How long do you think it was going on for?” I asked, unlocking my phone to scroll on social media, seeing what else was posted. So many articles speculating about Rory cheating on Tyler with me, then fucking rival crew members on top of it.
“I’m not sure. I knew they’d gotten too close,” he muttered, looking deep in thought for a moment before flicking his eyes to mine. “The night Slash—” He stopped, seeming to second-guess himself.
“The night Slash died, what?” I demanded, not liking where this was going.
“Rory went to stay at Mule’s, claiming she needed space.”
“And?”
“She showed up the next morning on the back of Hunter’s bike in his clothes.
He and Marco claimed to have found her wandering and brought her home.
She later confessed that she never went to Mule’s and she’d been sitting on the school roof in the Heights half the night.
Hunter and Marco found her and took her back to Hunter’s to shower and sleep. ”
I almost broke my coffee cup with the grip I had on it.
“Why the fuck are you only telling me this now?”
“Because I honestly thought he’d just been helping her, and telling you would have started a much bigger problem. Now, I’m starting to think she lied to us and went straight to him that night.”
“That fucking little cunt. Slash was barely cold and she jumped into Hunter’s bed?” I snapped, fury racing through me. Fucking me over was one thing, but Slash had died believing he’d found love with her.
“He’s always popping up out of nowhere. Do you think she was calling him to go to her?” he asked, and I downed the scalding coffee and shoved back from my chair, making it screech on the floor. “Where are you going?”
“Get up. We’re going to your house,” I growled, making him frown.
“Why?”
“There has to be something in her bedroom. Does she keep a diary?”
“Not since we used it against her at school,” he replied with a wince.
“There has to be more clues. What if they have hidden photos together or something? Were they secretly dating? Caden, I’m going to fucking kill her,” I snarled, throwing the empty cup across the room and making it shatter. “Fuck!”
My chest hurt like hell, disbelief filling me. Would she really have done that? Sneaking around with Slash might have been a thrill for her, so sneaking around with Hunter?
She probably got her rocks off to it.
I found my keys and wallet in the bedroom, grateful that Caden knew not to fuck with me as he followed me outside and said he’d follow in his Challenger, and the fury inside me only grew by the time we arrived.
I almost tore my damn car door off getting out, making Caden cringe as we headed towards the front door.
“I know you’re mad, but tone it down a little. You’re going to scare the staff, dude.”
“Fuck the staff.”
“Maybe don’t do that. Mom doesn’t like it,” he grumbled, waving a concerned looking Karl off as we made our way through the kitchen and up the stairs.
Rory’s scent hit me like a brick when I opened the door, and I had to remind myself that she was no better than Marco to avoid choking on the emotions from it.
I pulled her bedside drawers out and dumped the contents on the bed, Caden doing the same with the other side.
She had nothing hidden in there, so I made my way to her closet next, digging through her clothes and random shit that she’d wedged in there until I found a few things that I knew weren't hers.
Before I even lifted them properly, Hunter’s scent reached me and I scowled, fisting the offending material.
“Why the fuck does she have his clothes here?” I bit out, pulling some of his sweats out next.
“Those are what she was wearing when he brought her home on his bike. I don’t know why she kept them,” he said with a frown.
“How many nights has she claimed she was with one of us but was with him instead?” I snarled, tossing the clothes aside. “Swear to me you didn’t fucking know.”
“I didn’t know they were sneaking around like that. I don’t trust that asshole, so if I thought they were doing shit behind our backs, I would have said something. Do you think she’s with Marco too?”
“He’s the one that probably got her into bed in the first place. He’s a smooth fucker when he wants to be. It’s how he sucked me in. Just a bunch of pretty lies and false promises,” I answered before realizing what I’d said.
I clenched my jaw and dropped down to sit on the floor inside the closet with my back to the wall, and Caden slid down the wall opposite me, watching me cautiously.
“You were with Marco?” he finally asked, and I scoffed.
“I’m not talking about it.”
“So you forced Lukas to face who he is, but you can’t?”
“It’s not like that!” I shouted, raking my hands through my hair. “I know what it’s like to be forced into hiding, and I hate the thought of anyone feeling like that. I don’t want to talk about it because Marco played me, and I don’t want to remember a single damn thing about it.”
“Hey,” he murmured, nudging my foot with his. “I’m surprised, but I won’t judge you for it. What happened?”
My throat was tight, so I just shook my head. Knowing Marco broke my heart years ago, just to take my girl from me now? I wanted to tear them to shreds.
“She knew what he did to me, and she still did this,” I finally said, his eyes narrowing.
“She knew?”
“Yeah. He told her,” I muttered, picking at invisible fluff on my jeans. “Either she played me, or they did exactly what I warned her they’d do and played her by sucking her in with their bullshit. I told her there were no second chances with me if that happened.”
“Should we go and find him? I’ll hold him while you punch,” he suggested, making the ghost of a smile curve my lips.
“Your scrawny arms couldn’t hold Marco down, but thanks for the offer.”
“I’m not fucking scrawny. My biceps aren’t much smaller than yours,” he huffed, kicking at me.
I chuckled, looking over at him with amusement. “Not even close, Holloway.”
He flipped me off but smiled. “Are we going to sit in a closet and sulk all day, or can we go and get drunk?”
“I have grown-up shit to do, so I can’t,” I sighed.
“Can’t D handle it?”
“If you think I’m not coping, you don’t even want to know how bad D is right now. He thinks it’s a misunderstanding. If he goes to her, he’s dead. She’s been labeled a traitor, so if he follows, he’s a traitor too.”
“You’re worried.” It wasn’t a question.
“Of course I am. I don’t even think he cares if she was bouncing on Devil dick, he’d go to her regardless. He never wanted this life, and she’s the first thing he’s given a shit about for a long fucking time.”
“I didn’t think he was interested in anyone that wasn’t Sasha?”
“He wasn’t. Something switched inside him when he kissed her,” I muttered, hauling myself to my feet. “Since you’re on the anti-Aurora side, want to come to the Shed? The guys can’t do shit.”
“You swear I won’t get shot at?” he asked dryly, making me force a grin.
“Nah. I got you in the divorce, that’s all.”
Diesel
“Anyone would think you’re the one that lost a girl, not the boss,” Matteo smirked as he leaned against the bar while waiting for me to get him a beer. “C’mon, be honest. You were tapping that whore, right?”
“Don’t talk about her like that,” I warned, sliding the beer towards him.
“Why not? She fucked Skeet to piss off those rich brats, she was sneaking around with Slash, while sneaking around with Rivera and Ortega. That’s whore behavior, man. She must have been good in bed for all of you to be chasing her around like dogs in heat.”
My heart was hammering in my chest, and I considered just shooting the prick. He had no idea who Rory was as a person, and there was absolutely no way in hell that she was sneaking around with Hunter or Marco.
Did it look bad? Absolutely, and I’d warned her this shit was going to blow up in her face if she kept meeting up with them, but she’d looked me right in the eye and said she wasn’t sleeping with them.
Rory was prickly, snuck off, and was a pain in the ass half the time with her lack of listening, but she wasn’t a fucking liar.
