Chapter 13 #2
“What are you going to bargain with?”
“I just want to see if they’d have something in mind first,” he said before motioning to Hammer and Preston and walking towards the door to yank it open.
Curses went around the room as we stepped inside, and Razor chuckled as he clapped his hands slowly.
“Haven’t you boys been busy? Nice detective work. You found me.”
The Soldiers were all on guard with their guns in hand, and Hunter rolled his eyes.
“Call your dogs off. We’re just here to talk.”
“A phone call would’ve been nice,” Razor hummed.
“Bet the Psychos could say the same to you. Now look at the mess you’ve made,” I tsked, only making him laugh as he waved his hand dismissively, the guns in the room lowering.
“You act like I’m the only one they don’t like. From what I’ve heard, you’re actively pissing them off. How is Aurora, by the way? Looking after her for me?” he asked with amusement, walking closer.
“Funny you mention her, she’s what I’d like to discuss,” Hunter replied.
“I thought so. The answer is no, you can’t have her.”
“What would you want in exchange for her?”
“You want to buy her from me? I doubt she’d like that,” he snorted. “But she’s not for sale.”
“Humor me. What’s she worth to you?”
“She’s priceless. I get to have some fun and piss you all off at the same time. You don’t understand the money she’s going to make me, Rivera. You can pay for a night with her, if you like.”
“She’s scrawny and doesn’t have much of a figure. Surely, you could find someone else,” I said dryly, trying to look disinterested.
“Not every rich businessman wants a full-figured woman.”
“It’s not women they’re into then,” I said with disgust, a dark chuckle leaving him.
“No shit, Ortega? They don’t have to know she’s perfectly legal.”
“It’s not legal to force an adult to fuck,” I said dryly, knowing we couldn’t just open fire on the prick but really wishing we could.
There was no way in hell that I was letting him touch her.
“She’ll come around eventually,” he said lightly, pulling a cigarette out to light it. “So, is that all?”
Hunter was fuming but kept it contained, keeping a blank look on his face.
“If you think of something you’d like for Rory, call me,” he said calmly, motioning for us to leave.
“That’s—” I started to argue, but he shot me a dirty look and I shut up, doing as he said. Once we were outside, I scowled at him. “Call the guys to come here. We can take them out and solve all of our problems.”
“It wouldn’t. They’re not all here, and starting a war right now isn’t a good idea. I didn’t think he’d budge, but it was worth a try,” Hunter sighed, putting his helmet on.
“I think you’re nuts for getting involved,” Preston muttered, leaning against his car. “Think about it. If the Psychos and Soldiers take each other out—”
“But they won’t. Even if that was the case, I’m not sacrificing Rory. Skeet doesn’t give a fuck about her, which means the Soldiers will get her. You know what they do to women, Pres. I won’t allow her to go through that,” Hunter snapped, pulling his gloves on and getting on his bike to start it.
I cursed when he took off while I was still putting my helmet on, and Hammer snorted. “He’s going to get everyone fucking killed.”
“Got to die from something, man,” I stated, tugging my gloves on and starting my bike.
“I’d rather not die over pussy.”
“Remember that when your sister needs help then. She might be important to you, but to me, she’s just pussy. You’d expect me to save her if needed though, right?” I said dryly, his eyes narrowing.
“She’s family, that’s different.”
“Not to me,” I shrugged, flicking a hand towards the cars to tell them to hurry up.
If Hunter had taken off, then I had to make sure the guys got back safely. It was my job, despite wanting to chase after Hunter.
They thankfully didn’t argue, getting in their cars and driving towards Mount Mercer with me bringing up the rear.
I wasn’t surprised to find Tyler sitting at the bar when we arrived at the warehouse, a grin on his face.
“There you are. Come drink with me!” he insisted, huffing out a breath when I put him in a headlock and jabbed him in the stomach lightly.
“Some of us are working, you walking bank account.”
“I’ll pay you to take the day off.”
“The money isn’t the issue. We don’t get that privilege here,” I grunted, stealing his drink and downing it. “Hunt in the office?”
“He went downstairs. Did something happen? He looked pissed off when he walked in,” he said curiously, and I winced.
“He’s fine. We tried bargaining with Razor for Rory’s safety and nothing came of it. He’s just mad. You stay up here while I check on him.”
“I’ll make you a drink.”
“Make two,” I stated before heading down to the basement, finding Hunter beating the hell out of our latest problem.
“I need him alive, you know?” I said dryly, leaning back against the wall and crossing my arms while I watched him. He was zoned out, his shirt off and sweat mixing with droplets of blood as it ran down his chest. “Hunt, rein it in, brother.”
He ignored me, so I blew out an annoyed breath and walked towards him, grabbing his shoulder to pull him back and dodging the fist that he threw at me. I’d punched him plenty of times while blacked out, so it would have been my karma if he hit me.
“Hey!” I snapped, clarity filling his eyes as he realized it was me.
“Shit, sorry,” he mumbled, almost sounding confused as he looked back at the guy I was supposed to question later. I was pretty sure he’d need a few days before being able to talk properly.
“Why’d you take off like that? I understand you’re dealing with shit, but the guys are seeing you solely focusing on Rory. We have work to do, and they need to see you pulling your weight too.”
“I’m running out of time. She’s going to go on trial soon, and I need to get her the fuck out, but once I do, she’s got a target on her head.
I knew there was a slim chance of Razor agreeing to let her go, but I really had hoped that he would,” he replied, holding my gaze.
“I need to find that fucking witness, Mark.”
“Leave it to me. The guys need to see you leading, so you handle shit here, and I’ll go and track down the witness,” I offered, his eyes narrowing.
“You’ve already looked.”
“I’ll bribe some people.”
“You know I don’t like that shit,” he grumbled, concern in his eyes at knowing how I intended on bribing them. “No one should pimp themselves out for information.”
“Not against their will, but I don’t give a shit about busting a nut to get answers.” I was good at seducing people, so I might as well use it to my advantage.
“Fine, but bail if you need to. I’ll break into the station myself if I really have to,” he replied with a nod.
I headed back upstairs to tell Tyler to stay put, finding him drinking with Faris. At least some of the guys were getting used to him being around.
“I’ve got to bounce,” I said as I pointed at Faris. “Look after my buddy for me.”
“Can I drink and take the rest of the day off?” Faris asked skeptically, but Tyler frowned.
“You’re leaving again?”
“You want your girl back out? Then I have things to do,” I stated, patting his shoulder. “And yes, Faris. You can get drunk with Ty all afternoon. Have fun.”
Faris grinned, more than happy to be on babysitting duty, letting me leave without an argument.
The ride to Ashburn Valley was quick, and I’d barely parked at Skeeter’s before the front door opened and he appeared.
“The fuck do you want?” he bit out, and I tsked him as I took my helmet off and left it with the bike before walking towards him.
“Hello to you too. We need to talk.”
“No, we don’t,” he scoffed, but he stepped back to let me in. “If this is about Aurora—”
“It is, but I don’t give a shit if you want to believe her or not,” I answered, tilting my head at him as I ran my eyes up his body.
He shut and locked the door, trying not to look bothered by my presence, but I could tell I was already getting to him just by being here.
“Get on with it, I don’t have all day.”
“What would I have to do for you to find out some information for me?” I asked curiously.
“What kind of information?”
“I want to know who the witness is. That’s it.”
He huffed out a laugh, but there was zero humor behind it. “Absolutely not.”
Moving closer, I reached out to touch his chest, a little surprised when he let me.
“C’mon, Skeet. You can have whatever you want in return. Information, money, a good fuck, whatever you need,” I murmured, the scowl on his face making my cock hard. He was stupidly hot when he was mad.
“I don’t need anything from you,” he answered sharply, pushing my hand off him. “If that’s all—”
“C’mon, baby. You know I’ll make it good for you,” I said softly, his eyes watching me like a hawk as I moved even closer until our chests were almost touching. “I bet you need a good release too.”
I thought I was getting through to him until we were interrupted.
“If you think I’ll let you play him like that again, you’re mistaken,” Diesel said flatly, appearing from the hallway and making Skeeter jerk back like I’d burned him. “I’ll find the information for you. Leave him the fuck out of it.”
I smirked, a little sad to not be able to get my mouth all over Skeeter.
“What do you want in return? You probably need your cock sucked too.”
“My cock is fine. You keep feeding me information about Rory and we’re even,” he said firmly, making Skeeter glare at him.
“The fuck, D? You’re not helping him.”
“The shit between me and Rory has nothing to do with you. You’ve been very vocal about where you stand about her, but you also agreed to let me do what I wanted in my own time.
I want her out, so giving him answers will hurry that along.
I’m not doing it to help them, I’m doing it for myself,” he said sharply, and I gave Skeeter a sly grin.
“If you’re sad about our deal falling through, I’d be more than happy to blow you for old times’ sake,” I stated, laughing when he took a swing at me. “You’re only turning me on now.”
