Chapter 31 #2

It turned into three hours of Google searches, a few lines of coke that I’d found in Tyler’s room, and one too many glasses of whiskey. Drinking only made me focus on my anger about the entire thing, my annoyance towards Skeeter only growing when I started thinking about the break-in.

What if he’d sent those guys after me, knowing we wouldn’t think it was him? Was he tricking us?

It made perfect sense, doing the one thing we wouldn’t think he’d do, and I somehow went from searching for answers on my mom, to muttering about Skeeter fucking me over.

How fucking dare he.

“That absolute bastard,” I bit out loudly, my voice echoing in the empty house, and I yanked my phone out to call the asshole to give him a piece of my mind.

When the robotic voice said the number wasn’t in service, because he’d obviously blocked my number to avoid me, I got to my feet and snatched a hoodie to shove on as I headed outside, climbing into the Lamborghini.

He didn’t even have the balls to try and kill me himself?

Well, he did, he’d already tried, but sending someone after me and risking the guys and Josie was going too damn far.

I drove past the Shed, but the McLaren wasn’t there, so I headed past Slash’s before trying Skeeter’s house, finding the car in the drive-way. I remembered to lock the Lamborghini once I’d climbed out, stalking towards the house and banging my fist on the door.

“Open up, asshole!” I kept banging until it was yanked open, Skeeter appearing with a gun in hand. “Oh, going to try and finish me off yourself this time?”

“What the fuck are you doing here?” he asked, motioning to the gun like I was blind. “I won’t miss this time, Aurora.”

“No, you’ll just hire someone again, won’t you?” I snapped, his brow creasing.

“What? Why would I hire someone?”

“Because you’re a pussy!” I yelled, making him growl as he yanked me inside and slammed the door, shoving me back against it so hard that my head bounced off it.

He pointed a finger in my face, his voice low. “You’re being crazy, and you’re going to draw attention.”

“Says the crazy person! You sent people to Josie’s to kill me. How could you be such a piece of shit? What if someone else had gotten hurt?”

“You think I sent those people to your house?”

“Ha! So you do know what I’m talking about!” I said victoriously, making him roll his eyes.

“Of course, I do. It was all over the news about you being taken in for questioning. Do you hear yourself? You think me, who kills people for fun, would need to hire amateur thugs to take you out?”

“You couldn’t do it last time,” I reminded him, his eyes narrowing.

“Hit a nerve? You heard me. You couldn’t do it last time.

You don’t fucking hate me, and that’s why you’re so pissed off,” I taunted, grinning when his hand wrapped around my throat, but he didn’t squeeze hard enough to stop me from breathing.

“You mean nothing to me.”

“Good. Guess you won’t be mad that I let Mark rub his cock all over my pussy and coat it in cum then. It was really hot. Tell me, what does he like in bed? You’d know. I want our first time to be magical,” I threw back, giving him a shove.

“You’re lying.”

“Am I? Ask the guys, they weren’t too happy about it. We had to go and get STD tests and everything. Good news, everyone’s clean. I think they’re warming up to Marco too, so hopefully—”

“Stop talking or I’ll kill you. I fucking mean it,” he snarled, putting his gun to my head so hard the barrel dug into my skin.

“Go on, do it,” I scoffed, not expecting him to kiss me.

It was hard, his teeth cutting my lip as he bit me, and then the hand from around my throat dropped to my pants, shoving them down with my panties.

My entire body arched into him, the familiar feeling of his hands on my skin waking up everything inside me, both of my hands starting to tug at his clothes too.

It was frantic, angry, violent, and that first thrust into my pussy hurt, but then he was cursing my name and fucking me so hard that I forgot what we were even fighting about.

The door rattled as he fucked me against it, and when he got annoyed with the angle, he pulled out of me and dragged me towards the couch, bending me over the side of it and slamming back inside me.

“I fucking hate you,” he gritted out, his gun pressing against the side of my head as he pushed me down harder on the couch.

“Doesn’t feel like it.”

That had been a small mistake because I was pretty sure he started fucking my throat through my pussy with a force hard enough to break me in half.

The scream that left me was raw when I came, curses leaving him as I squirted all over him while he continued to fuck me to death.

“Fuck you,” he said bitterly, burying so deep I winced as he filled me with cum.

He instinctively moved in front of me when someone spoke, telling us we weren’t alone.

“Get that gun away from her or so help me, Skeet.” It took my brain a second to register the intruder was Hunter, my pants and panties in his hand as he walked closer to toss them at me. “Get dressed. We’re leaving.”

“Excuse me? Who the fuck—” I started, but I shut up when he pulled his gun out and aimed it at Skeeter, his voice so low it sent shivers over my body.

“You think you get to fucking touch her?”

Skeeter let out a humorous laugh but stepped aside more, motioning to me with a sneer.

“Feel free to take her home. For the record, that cunt came after me.”

“Don’t call her that.”

“Why not? She’s a traitorous little—”

“You’re the lying piece of shit here, not her. Rory, let’s go,” Hunter said sharply, not seeming to give a shit about my naked lower half as he tugged me upright and tried to force my feet into my panties.

“I’ve never fucking lied to her,” Skeeter growled, and Hunter abandoned the mission to get me dressed as he stepped towards Skeeter and punched him.

“Goddammit,” I muttered as I fought my clothes to get them back on, needing to break the guys up. Not that I was able to use my legs properly. I was wobbly, and I was pretty sure it wasn’t from the booze or powder.

They threw punch after punch at each other until Hunter spoke, both of them going still.

“Were you just never going to tell her about her mom?”

I finally got my pants on properly, my eyes sliding to Skeeter hopefully. “You found Mom?”

Skeeter’s jaw was clenched, but the fight in him had gone. He couldn’t look at me, only making Hunter snort.

“I found a lead today and it led me to a guy in Lightning Cove. Turns out, he’d also had a visit from Skeet looking for answers, and the guy had already given them to him.

” He gave me a sympathetic look, and I was already shaking my head when he continued.

“Max hired the guy for a body disposal. Woman in her thirties. I showed him a photo of your mom, and he said it was her.”

“He’s wrong,” I said firmly, not wanting to believe it. “Mom’s not dead.”

“Hot Shot,” he sighed, moving closer to hold my gaze when I tried to look away. “She’s gone. I have more details, but I’d rather—”

“Tell me.”

He was quiet for a moment before nodding, not hiding anything from me.

“The guy’s a professional, so he sees a lot of bodies. He said she’d been beaten and tortured, and there were signs of sexual assault. It was about two months after she went missing from Rosevale.”

My ears were buzzing, and I grabbed the couch to stop myself from falling.

“You knew?” I croaked out, Skeeter finally having the balls to look at me. “How long?”

“I didn’t know how to tell you. Things kept going to shit, and the right time never came up,” he answered, his tone flat. “I was trying to protect you.”

“Protect me?” I choked out with a laugh, the sound a little manic. “I’ve spent my whole life looking for her or wondering where she was. How long have you fucking known that she was dead and I was chasing a ghost?”

Hunter shook his head in disgust, and as much as it hurt, I was glad he was being honest with me.

“The guy spoke to him in October.”

“October?” I snapped, moving towards Skeeter and punching him in the chest. “Fucking October?”

“It was just before midterms. I was going to tell you after, but then Slash died. It never felt like the right time,” he explained, and I punched him again.

“Was this why you didn’t want to look into Axel? You already knew she was gone?”

“That wasn’t why. I didn’t want you near Axel because he’s a monster, just like the rest of his boys.”

Angry tears burned my eyes as I smacked my hands against him, not really knowing what else to do. Years of searching just to find out she’d been dead this whole time.

He let me hit him until Hunter pulled me away, and I didn’t even care that he kissed me on top of the head, just to try and piss off Skeeter.
