Chapter 43
Revea
“Thanks, Lyana. You’ve been a literal angel.”
“Well, you’ve been the best client I’ve had in a long time. You actually listen. Don’t tell the guys I said that,” she says in a low murmur, making me smile. “Now go and enjoy your week-long break.”
My brow arches. “Why are you saying it like that?”
“I’m not saying it like anything,” she quips sharply. “We all need a break sometimes. Especially us omegas. But I am just a tiny bit curious to know if I’ll be receiving a similar call today? Maybe from a pack? Maybe the pack that put me in charge of your PR in the first place?”
I huff a laugh, shaking my head. “Why do I just know you’re grinning?”
She laughs manically.
I sigh. “Yes. You probably will. No doubt they’ll try to convince you it needs to be longer—”
“I fucking knew it!” she snaps in triumph. “I’ve been shipping you together since Val’s first grumpy phone call. Then, when I saw the paparazzi photos?” She groans. “Do you know how many TikTok edits there are of you guys?”
I frown. “TikTok what—?”
“Anyway, this is perfect. No one will suspect a thing because they’re your security.
They’re just keeping you nice and secure during your h—break.
And when you come back from your break.” I can practically see her winking.
“I’ll help you take control of the narrative.
Whatever way you wanna go with it. I’ll run those blood-thirsty, conniving journalists into the fucking ground if you want—”
“Once I’m back, we need to meet in person.” I chuckle, cutting off her murderous thoughts.
“Oh, didn’t I mention? I’ve already put a date in your calendar.”
The phone call with Lyana was a great distraction, because only two days after Sylvan had me ordering things for the nest, I woke up this morning with the tell-tale signs of a heat.
Clammy, sensitive skin, everything too scratchy, too loud, too bright. Not to mention the fact that I was already sleep-humping the alpha’s thigh I was wrapped around.
Thankfully, not enough to wake them.
And thankfully, I’m only in preheat.
I still have my mind. I’m not lost to a fog of lust. But since my heat wasn’t scheduled for another week, I’ve had to put things in place quickly.
So with a final glance at the sleeping alphas, I snuck out of Kaiden’s room with my phone and laptop and set up in the back office.
Margret was my first call, then Lyana, and now I’m just racing the clock. Because I know the second one of my alphas wakes up, they’ll track me down, and when they find me…
It’ll be game over.
Pre-heat scent is no joke. I’m literally a walking piece of cooking meat for starving predators. I’m foreplay in a smell.
And although a part of me is a little afraid of my first heat with a pack, another part is more than eager to be with them.
Because I trust them. So much. I know they’ll take care of me, and my omega completely agrees, already purring at the thought.
I shake my fuzzy mind clear, down another pint of water, and continue rescheduling my appointments for the next few days... Or maybe I should do a week, as Kaiden ordered.
Just in case.
When soft footsteps approach around an hour later, I’m in the middle of replying to an email about a consultation. And I’m so close to having it done, I just need a few more minutes… so I decide to slip under the desk.
The door opens.
I keep typing.
“Revea?”
I still.
Wait.
Type a couple more letters—
“Ve, I know you’re in here.”
“Shit,” I whisper, then sigh, slowly standing up… and there he is.
Luciano, holding the top of the door frame while leaning in, topless, and smiling.
With all that hard muscle, tanned skin, and bright teeth on display...
“Why aren’t you in our bed?” he muses, a devious twist to his smile.
“I… I just needed to do some work.” I force a small smile.
“Oh yeah?” He prowls closer. “Under the desk?”
“Well, I… I needed to...” God, the way he moves makes every muscle ripple. Is he bigger? More defined? I swallow. “Concentration—concentrate.”
His smile stretches wider. “Yeah, want my help, mami? I can slip under the desk, get on my knees, let you work while you try not to come—”
He stills a few inches before me and scents the air, eyes falling shut as he takes a long, slow drag.
Then groans so deep I feel myself clench.
“Baby.” His darkened gaze locks on me. “Give me one good reason I shouldn’t call Kaiden in here right now.”
“It’s only pre-heat!” I blurt, hoping that’s enough. But when his head tilts, I realise it isn’t. “I just have one more email—”
The air hums.
My mouth drops open. “You didn’t.”
He smirks.
I scowl. “You fucking—”
He sweeps in, tongue dominating my mouth, melting away my anger.
“I’m sorry, Ve.” He takes my laptop, dropping it onto the desk chair before picking me up and kissing my throat. “But I can’t wait a second longer to have you in our nest.” He inhales, nose to my pulse. “Fuck... this is your pre-heat scent?”
He groans again, pushing me against the nearest wall, grinding into me, tongue dragging up my throat, along my jaw.
“Baby, I’m already on the edge of a rut.”
The door slams open with a deafening crack. I flinch in Luc’s arms, but he doesn’t stop devouring my throat, his fingers tugging my shirt while rocking his cock and knot against me—
“Stop,” Kaiden barks.
Luc freezes in place.
He storms over, gaze fixed, but when he’s close enough to scent me, those bright grey eyes explode with black.
“You’re in heat?” he growls, each word dragged from his chest.
Waves of heat pulse through me at the tone, a cramp twisting my gut as I squirm out of Luc’s frozen hold and back onto the ground.
“Pre-heat.” I try to smile, a little breathless, but Kaiden’s expression makes it falter.
“Nest. Now.” He reaches for me. I step back.
He arches one brow, and that single look causes another flood of heat.
“One more email,” I say, breath laboured. “I just need to send one more, and then—”
He snarls before lunging, gripping my waist and throwing me over his shoulder.
“Hey!” I kick his back, fists slamming against his hard chest. “Put me down, Kaiden! It’s only pre-heat! Let me go—”
“Revea.” His sharp tone cuts my words, and my omega creeps forward, enticed. “Your scent is already…” He trails off, scenting the air again with a pained groan. “The second you’re in full heat, my entire pack will fall into a rut. Do you understand what that means?”
His hand gently runs over my ass as he walks down the hallway, and suddenly, I’m not as mad.
“Not really...” I murmur.
“They’ll be feral for you. More alpha than man. Which means I’ll need to keep them all in check.”
“Oh...” I swallow, feeling even more flushed. “That sounds... fun.”
He chuckles, running his hand back over the curve of my backside again. “Yes, it will be. But that also means they’ll want to bite.”
I tense as another cramp ripples through me.
“But alphas go into rut all the time, right?” I rasp, breathing through the cramp. “It doesn’t mean they’ll bite.”
“Trust me, darlin’. They’ll try,” he murmurs, sounding a mixture of displeased and... heated.
God, he smells so good, and he’s so strong, carrying me like I’m nothing with one arm.
“And will you rut me, alpha?” My hand rests on his chest, and beneath it, his heart pounds, rumbling with a kindling growl.
“Yes, Revea. And when I do, I won’t hold back.”
I cross my legs, thighs tight, squirming at the images flooding my mind. “I told Lyana I’d be gone a week, alpha.”
His building growl turns into a purr that has me slumping like a sack of meat. “Good omega.”
And all those muscles tense again with those praising words.
We enter a room, his pace meaning I barely pick up Val’s scent before he opens another door, and there it is.
The nest.
I’m promptly thrown into it, bouncing once on the large, circular mattress.
Kaiden stands at the edge, staring down at me, so tall his head almost reaches the lowered ceiling.
I wet my lips, and his gaze tracks my tongue.
“I need your limits. Now,” he says.
“My... what?” I’m in a daze after his talk of ruts.
He crouches down onto his heels, and the urge to go to him is undeniable. I crawl over on my hands and knees.
He stares, swallowing. “Fucking hell, Revea.”
“Limits?” I remind him with a teasing smile.
“Things you don’t want during your heat. Anything you don’t like.”
I wet my lips. “I... I haven’t really experimented much, so I’m not sure...”
“We should have talked about this before…” His brows furrow with a worry I’m keen to erase.
“It’s okay, alpha.” I sit up on my knees. “If I don’t like something, I’ll bark.” I smile.
His pupils blow. “Shit, Revea.” He closes his eyes, shaking his head. “That... that’ll work.” He takes a deep breath, the tendons in his neck pulling taut. “Your scent is... fuck. You sure you’re not in heat?”
I shake my head softly, just as the air hums.
A door opens.
Then another.
Another.
Kaiden remains crouched, gaze flickering to each door as his packmates enter.
They prowl around the edge of the nest, spreading out, meaning everywhere I look there’s one of them.
Their gazes dark, intent. Hungry.
“Protocol?” Val never looks away from me, his voice lower than I’ve ever heard it.
“Bite guards stay in. No knotting until I say. Apart from that...” Kaiden’s lips stretch into a wicked smile as he ends his commands with, “She’s all yours.”
I’m dragged by my ankle into the middle of the nest, but before I can make a sound, there’s a tongue in my mouth, hands ripping my shirt, lips over every inch of bare skin.
The air hums loudly, practically buzzing as I’m slid down onto my back, legs parted, and a long, hot swipe of a tongue runs up my slit.
“Fucking hell...” Luc groans between my thighs, tongue lapping at my soaking entrance.
I moan, but there’s a mouth silencing me. When a finger slips inside and I whine, they just kiss me harder.
There’s a mouth over my breasts, another finger on my clit, a hand around my throat as my thighs are pinned open by another.
