Chapter 10 #2

“He told us we didn’t have a choice, man. We’re just out here trying to make it, like y’all did.”

“Nah, you’re nothing like us. I would’ve died before I became a disloyal motherfucker.”

“Indeed,” Mitch said, nodding his head.

“Let us make it up to you. We can tell you what that nigga has going on,” Johnny said.

“Nah, I’m good. See you two motherfuckers in hell,” I said, raising my gun and shooting them both in both of their eyes and twice in the chest.

“Get them where they need to be.”

“I got you. What are you about to get into?”

“I gotta head to the office. But before I do that, I’m going to pop up on that nigga and let him know that he can be touched whenever and wherever I want him to be.”

“You need me to ride with you?”

“Nah, I got it.”

“Alright, well hit me up if you need me,” he said, dapping me up as I left the warehouse.

Pulling up to the restaurant where Ethan was having lunch, I coached myself to calm down.

I wasn’t here to kill this nigga, even though I truly wanted to do so.

However, since I didn’t know how he managed to get out of prison ten years earlier than he should’ve, I had to move smarter than my emotions.

“What the fuck?” He asked, jumping in his seat like a bitch. Prison had made his ass softer and dumber.

Even though that nigga played no part in making me the man that I was today, I wouldn’t take away from who Ethan was in the streets before he got knocked.

His ass was a big deal back in his day. He just didn’t have as much pull as I did.

If he hadn’t gone to prison, I would’ve allowed his ungrateful ass to be on my team.

But the nigga sitting in front of me was now a disgrace.

“What the fuck are you jumping like a bitch for? I told your ass that you could always be touched. What? You thought I was joking with your old ass?”

“Nigga ain’t nobody jump,” he said, straightening out his clothes. Apparently, his ass was now a liar, too.

“If you say so. So, what’s your beef with me, Ethan?

You would’ve thought that a nigga who got ten years shaved off his bid would’ve been focused on turning their life around and doing the right thing when they got out.

But nope, not you. You want to get out, starting drama, and playing a game that we both know you’re not capable of winning. ”

“Yet.”

“What, nigga?”

“That I’m not capable of winning yet. Yeah, I can be a man and admit that you’re the bigger nigga right now. But we both know that those tables can and will always turn.”

“Nigga, it’s a game that you won’t ever win.

I am and will always be the bigger nigga.

Now, since we have history, I feel like it’s only right for me to tell you to back down and go about your day.

But, since we both know that you won’t take heed to my warning and grace, I guess I should ask what color you want your coffin to be instead? ”

“Only one of us will make it out of this shit at the end of the day. And we both know who that one will be.”

“Yeah, me, motherfucker. You think because you have the feds on your side that you’re safe? You could have the fucking Army behind you, my nigga, and you still wouldn’t stand a fucking chance.”

From the way his eye twitched, I realized I had hit a nerve with that fed’s comment.

I knew his ass was working with them, but he had just confirmed that shit for me.

All the respect I had for his ass went out of the window.

I didn’t give a fuck about how much I wanted a niggas spot.

I wasn’t getting in bed with the fucking feds.

Once you were their bitch, you would always be their bitch, and that wasn’t a game I wanted to play.

“Who the fu—,” he started, but I stopped his ass. I had heard enough of his bullshit, and his voice was irritating the fuck out of me.

“Aye, nigga I ain’t come here to chop it up with you. Just know that your ass is living on borrowed time. Enjoy your bullshit ass lunch, broke ass nigga,” I said, bumping the table and watching the water spill on his lap. Bitch-ass nigga.

Being that the day was damn near over, I decided to work from home for the rest of the day instead of going into the office. I wasn’t in the right headframe to deal with anybody, and I didn’t want to accidentally snap on anybody because I was dealing with a lot of shit.

I still planned on meeting up with Kenedi for dinner, though. She always seemed to bring me peace, and I needed the grounding only she could give me right about now. As I pulled into my driveway, I pulled out my phone to see if she had picked out a place for us to go to dinner tonight.

ME:

What’s up? Did you find somewhere for dinner tonight?

KENEDI:

Yep, I’ll share the address with you.

KENEDI:

Shared location.

ME:

Seriously? This is where you want to go to dinner?

KENEDI:

Yep, that’s where I want to go. Are you going to meet me there?

ME:

Nah, I’ll pick you up around 7. So, make sure you leave the office in time.

KENEDI:

Okay, I’ll see you then.

ME:

Cool.

Grabbing my bag, I headed into the house to get some work done. I had a lot to do, but I honestly didn’t feel like doing much of anything. So, if there wasn’t a fire that needed to be put out, I tabled it for later.

After a few hours, I realized it was time for me to shower, change, and go pick up Kenedi for our date. It was more like a damn playdate since she’d chosen to go to Dave & Buster’s instead of a nice restaurant like I thought she’d choose.
