Chapter Six

Silas

When I stepped into my office, my assistant was waiting there a little too close to my desk. “Okay, so I’m here for my meeting with Downers and Presley. I’d like to keep it nice and efficient.” The clients were looking forward to investing in our latest project. “Where are the files?”

“Oh, they’re right here.” She held them against her chest, arms crossed as if she was shielding them or herself from me.

“You can set them down.”

“Would you like me to get you a coffee, Sir?”

“No, that won’t be necessary. My wife made me some before I left.” I watched her face fall, smile shifting into a frown, but I didn’t care. “Make sure the conference room is prepared for the meeting.”

“Of course.”

Fifteen minutes later, I slinked into the board room where my guests were waiting. “Sorry to keep you waiting, but there have been changes to the document.” My eyes landed on my assistant, teeth clenched.

“Sorry, there were some changes to the offer.”

“Yes, I noticed they changed the rate of return.”

“So, Mr. Harrison, we’d like to discuss a possible joint deal investment on the Lancaster property.”

“That was not on our agenda for today.”

“Yes, but we heard it’s a valuable property that could really use an extra cash flow.”

I didn’t know where they heard that idea from, but it wasn’t true. I had more than enough money on the project myself personally and my group being the sole owner of the complex. This was a special investment for me, something I planned to leave for my kids.

“I’m afraid that you were misinformed. There is no need for any partnership as I am fully funding the project myself.”

“Are you sure we can’t make a deal?”

“We can’t on that issue. If you’d like to discuss the Hanson property, we can work something out. If not, I’m afraid we’re done here.” They sat there with their mouths open, but I just closed my folder and started to stand.

“Wait. We can work on the Hanson property.” I sat back down and opened the file.

“Fine. Let us discuss the percentages.” I listened to their offer and then countered with my own.

“If that’s what it takes to do business with the Harrison company, then we’ll have to take what we can get. It’s a deal.” We shook hands and then stood.

“I’ll have the paperwork drafted and sent over in twenty-four hours.” I walked them out and then returned to my office.

When I sat down, I pulled my cell phone from my desk drawer and saw a missed call from my dad. I was about to call him when my phone rang again.

“Son, please tell me that you didn’t just get married, but you also didn’t tell us,” my mother hollered over the call.

“Sorry, Mom. I couldn’t wait for you to come back.”

“You didn’t even bother to call for days?”

“I didn’t want you to come home early.”

“Ooh, Silas Johnathan, you are so on my bad list. You couldn’t wait until we returned?”

“I’d waited long enough.”

“So, it’s her, son,” my father chimed in. He knew about my search for Yelena.

“Yes, it’s her, and waiting another day more was already unbearable.”

“Are you happy?”

“Ecstatic.”

“Good. We can’t wait to meet our daughter-in-law.”

“You will as soon as you get back.”

“Aren’t you two going on a honeymoon?”

“Not yet. I plan to take her soon.”

I rolled my eyes and turned my chair toward my office door, and that was when a shadow swept underneath my office door. “Mom, Dad, I’ve got to go. I’ll call you another time.”

“Fine, brat. We love you.” I hit the end button, hit the recording device on it, and then sat my phone on the leather blotter upside down. I had an uncomfortable feeling that I had to protect myself.

“Ms. Bell, is there something you needed?” She stepped into my office, walking up to the side of my desk with her top wet and see-through. I averted my eyes.

“Um…I thought you called me in here.”

“What makes you think I called you in?”

“Um…well, you sounded stressed and I thought maybe I could help.” She moved closer, and I snapped.

“Why the fuck is your top soaked?” I asked while looking at the wall.

“I spilled water on it.”

“With a fucking hose? Get the fuck out of my office and don’t come back in. You’re fired.”

“What? Why? It’s that stupid woman. She got to you, and you forgot all about me,” she blathered. My brows furrowed as my temper grew heated. The woman had the nerve to insult my wife.

“You were my assistant and nothing more.”

“Don’t say that,” she whined. “I got your coffee every morning, picked up your lunch.”

“Yes, a part of your job description.” Holy shit, I never thought it was a problem until I got married.

“But I could be so much more.” I hit the button for security on my desk phone.

“Mr. Harrison, what can we do for you?”

“I need you to come up and have Ms. Margo Bell removed from my building. Please remove her company access as well.”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re going to pay for this. I’m going to tell them that you tried to seduce me,” she threatened.

“Go ahead. I have been recording the entire time.” I lifted my phone to show her the screen.

She gasped, reaching out to take it, but I pulled it back. “You can’t do that. Why are you so cruel to me?”

Security stepped through the door. “Ms. Bell, it’s time for you to leave before they force you out.”

“Ms. Bell, it’s best you leave on your own,” Devon said as he stared her down.

“Fine, but I need to collect my things.” I nodded.

They walked her to her desk, and then I added, “Let her take only her belongings. All electronics are the company’s.”

She tried to take the cell, but the security guard snatched it. “That’s my cell phone.”

“It’s company property. You can have it after it’s been cleared.”

“You can’t do that,” she complained.

“The hell I can’t. There are confidential matters on there.”

“You’re so mean,” she sobbed, letting her tears fall down her face, but it had no effect on me. She was dangerous. Fuck, how was I supposed to tell my wife about this? I never wanted her to get the wrong idea.

“Get her out of here.” After they entered the elevator and the doors closed, I went back to my office.

The sickly-sweet stench of her perfume lingered, so I left the door open.

Now that I didn’t even have an assistant, I had to get back to work even though I wanted nothing more than to go home and hold my wife.

I spent the rest of the workday drafting the proposal and then sent it to my lawyer. It was time for me to call it a night.

As I drove home, I stopped at a light and my eyes focused on a jewelry shop.

“Yelena needs something perfect.” A car beeped behind me as the light changed, so I pulled over and slid into a parking space.

The shop was only open for another hour.

When the ladies went shopping, they didn’t buy Yelena any special jewelry, so it was my duty to give her everything.

I planned on finding a beautiful gift for her.

My phone rang just as I entered the store. It was Reya. “What’s up, sis? How was the shopping trip?”

“Your wife is nervously waiting for you.”

“Nervously?”

“She’s a new bride and she thinks we spent too much money.” I chuckled to myself. I remember getting an alert of over ten thousand being spent, but that was it.

“Unless the card provider missed transactions, she didn’t spend enough.”

“I know. I tried, but I frightened her when we entered Hermes. As soon as she saw the prices, she bolted.”

“Oh goodness. You should have worked your way up.”

“Uh, I did. How do you think we got to ten K?”

“Fair, but I have to let you go. I’ll be home in an hour and a half.”

“Sir, can we help you?”

“Yes, I need to find something special for my wife.”

“We have a lot of unique pieces. Please look at our exquisite sets we have over here.” I spent twenty minutes until my eyes landed on the perfect necklace.

“Wrap this one up.” I finally hit the road and made it back to the estate by eight.

“About damn time. Your wife went off to read in the living room.” I entered, and there she was, sound asleep with her hand hanging off the sofa and a book on the floor.

“Beloved, you fell asleep.” I kissed her forehead and then scooped her up in my arms.

“Silas,” she whispered. “I missed you,” she added as I laid her on the bed.

“I missed you, darling wife.” I stood straight, staring at her.

“Wife? We haven’t even been intimate at all. Do you have a mistress?” The hurt shook her voice. I’d be angry, but I’d left her alone too long and I’d avoided all physical contact since we married. Just touching her or thinking about her made me hard.

I sat down on the bed and trapped her upper body between my arms. “No, there is not another woman. I told you I’d give you time. You’re my one and only.” My mouth closed down on hers. “But since you need proof, I believe it’s time I made you mine completely.”

“At least close the door,” my sister huffed, snagging the handle and shutting the door behind her.

“Oops,” Yelena giggled, and then I stole another kiss. “At least we know she won’t interrupt us again.”

I slowly unbuttoned my shirt, hands shaking and fucking missing the damn holes. Annoyed, I ripped it off. “Oh my.” She pressed her hand to her mouth.

“Don’t get shy on me.” I pulled her hand away and slid it over my chest. “Wife, we will get to know each other in every way. Touch what belongs to you, only you.” Her hand lingered, rubbing my abs and stiffening my already painfully hard dick.

The blood left my brain, and all I wanted was to fuck her into the mattress.

“I need to see all of you.” I grabbed the hem of her shirt and lifted it over her head, and then I pulled off her shorts.

She lay there in nothing but a pair of panties and a lace bra.

“So sexy,” I whispered as I leaned down and pressed kisses on her flat stomach, slowly moving up as I tasted her soft skin.

Moans fell from her lips as she pressed her hands to the bed, fingers flexing around the sheets.
