6 | ☕️ Anya Has Atlass Full Attention (God Help Her) ☕️
Atlas Valtieri was a man of routine.
He didn't like surprises. He didn't like chaos. He didn't like anything that could disturb the precise, orderly life he'd meticulously built from the ground up. His empire was founded on control, and his life-well, his life was one long exercise in control.
Wake up at 5 AM. Destroy the competition by 10 AM. Make business deals worth billions before lunch. And at exactly 8 AM, every single morning, he arrived at the café.
For his coffee.
For her.
Today was no different.
As Atlas stepped into the café, everything changed.
The air was charged with a certain static energy that rippled across the room.
The baristas, the customers-everyone was aware of his presence.
It wasn't just the sound of his footsteps that drew attention.
It was the weight of his gaze, the stillness in the air when he entered, the almost unspoken demand for reverence that followed him like a shadow.
His presence dominated the space as if he were the sun and the rest of the world merely planets revolving around him. People instinctively stood a little straighter, their hands a little more precise in their movements.
And yet, despite the stillness, there was one person who remained blissfully unaffected.
Anya.
She was the only one who seemed to enjoy the tension, the only one who could navigate Atlas Valtieri's suffocating presence without breaking into a cold sweat.
Her laughter rang out across the room as if she was daring him to be anything other than stoic. And, as usual, he did not disappoint.
"Atlas!" Anya greeted him cheerfully, her voice a stark contrast to the heavy silence that had followed his arrival. "Ready for another surprise today?"
The entire café went deathly quiet. Even the coffee machine seemed to pause, as if it were waiting for something.
Atlas stopped mid-step, his eyes narrowing just slightly. The tension built in the room-rising like a thick fog. Kaia, from behind the counter, shot Anya a frantic look.
"WHY DO YOU KEEP TESTING HIM?" Kaia whispered in a near-panic. The rest of the staff shifted nervously, as if expecting Atlas to explode any second.
But Atlas, ever the enigma, didn't respond. His sharp gaze remained fixed on Anya.
And Anya, ever the instigator, grinned back at him. "Come on, live a little! Maybe some vanilla today?"
It was a playful challenge-one that tested the limits of Atlas's usual composure.
Atlas's face remained a mask of indifference. Yet, there was something simmering beneath the surface, something dangerous.
And then, in a voice so calm it almost sounded like a whisper, he signed:
Anya's lips twitched. She studied him, her expression one of genuine curiosity. "Oh, so you do have preferences. Interesting."
Atlas tilted his head just slightly, his expression unreadable, but his eyes never left hers.
For a moment, Anya could have sworn there was a flicker of something dangerous in his gaze. It wasn't anger, exactly. It was something deeper. Something unsettling.
But Anya, never one to back down from a challenge, leaned forward, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "What if I refuse?"
Kaia, now panicked and wide-eyed, whispered from the counter, "SHE'S GONNA GET US KILLED."
The tension was thick, almost suffocating. Atlas didn't flinch. His eyes, dark and calculating, bore into Anya's with the force of a steel trap.
A long pause.
Then, with the efficiency and precision of a man who had never let anyone get the better of him, Atlas moved. His hand drifted to his pocket, and in one swift motion, he pulled out his phone.
Anya blinked, taken aback for a fraction of a second.
"Hello?" a voice answered from the other end of the line.
Atlas signed again, his movements deliberate, smooth-like the swift stroke of a master's brush.
Anya's eyes widened in shock.
Kaia screamed in pure horror, clutching her head like she was about to lose it.
The room collectively gasped, and it seemed like the world had stopped turning for a beat. The quiet murmur of the regulars, the hum of the coffee machines-it all faded into background noise as Anya's eyes locked on Atlas.
She blinked. "Wait... are you actually-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Atlas lowered his phone, his gaze not once leaving hers.
The weight of his words hung in the air like a guillotine ready to fall.
Anya, undeterred and still utterly unphased, grinned. "Okay, okay, I get it. Black coffee. No surprises."
Atlas didn't say another word. He turned and, with the grace and authority of someone who was used to having the world bend to his will, he reached for his coffee.
He took a sip.
Bitter. Strong. Exactly how he liked it.
And yet... there was something. Something just a little off. He could feel the sting of her challenge, the way she pushed his limits just to see how far she could go. It was a game to her, something reckless and defiant, yet exhilarating.
As he stood there, the warmth of the coffee filling his chest, he realized something.
Anya amused him.
She intrigued him.
He'd never met anyone who could so casually stand toe-to-toe with him, never met anyone who made him feel this kind of... unease.
And that, in itself, was both maddening and exhilarating.
For a moment, he stood still, his fingers tracing the edge of the cup. It wasn't about the coffee anymore. It was about her.
Anya had done something that no one else had managed to do. She had gotten under his skin. She had forced him to react in a way that was out of his control.
She was reckless. She was unpredictable.
And, more than anything else, she was beginning to get to him in a way no one else ever had.
His lips twitched in what could have been the faintest of smiles as he turned to leave. Without a glance back, he walked out the door.
The café exhaled in unison.
Kaia, still reeling from what had just transpired, looked at Anya in disbelief. "HE JUST CASUALLY THREATENED TO BUY MY BUSINESS."
Anya patted her back sympathetically, still too smug to be rattled. "Hey, at least he didn't actually do it."
Kaia just stared at her, utterly defeated. "Do you have a brain? HE WAS TWO SECONDS AWAY."
Anya rolled her eyes. "Oh, relax. He wouldn't actually do it." She glanced at the door, her lips curling into a playful smile. "Would he?"
Atlas took another sip of his coffee, letting the bitterness settle on his tongue. It was strong, dark-exactly how he liked it. And yet, for the first time in years, something about it felt... off. Not in taste, not in quality.
But in expectation.
It wasn't the coffee itself that lingered in his thoughts. It was her.
Anya.
She had tested him today. Pushed him. Toyed with the invisible line that no one else dared to cross. She had looked him straight in the eye and smirked, challenging him in a way no one had before.
And what was worse?
He had let her.
Atlas was not a man who played games. He had spent his entire life cultivating control, eliminating surprises, ensuring that every aspect of his world bent to his will. He built an empire on power and precision, and he had never-never-allowed himself to be amused by anyone.
But then there was her.
A woman who stood behind a café counter, with too much brightness in her eyes and too much audacity in her smile. A woman who didn't cower beneath his gaze like the rest of the world.
No-she laughed.
She challenged.
She flirted.
And now, she had his full attention.
Atlas's fingers curled around the coffee cup, the warmth seeping into his palm as he exhaled into the crisp morning air. A lesser man might have walked away, ignored the distraction, dismissed her as an anomaly.
But Atlas wasn't a lesser man.
He had spent years sharpening his instincts, and his instincts told him one thing:
This wasn't over.
His mind was already working, already analysing, already planning. He had walked into that café every morning for his usual routine. But now?
Now, there was something more waiting for him there.
Something unpredictable.
Something intriguing.
Something that made him want to step into the chaos-if only to see how far she was willing to push.
A slow smirk ghosted across his lips.
Anya had no idea what she had just started.
Because Atlas Valtieri was not a man who let go of things that interested him.
And unfortunately for her-
He had his eyes set on her now.
Kaia leaned against the counter, her eyes wide as she wiped a bead of sweat from her brow, her fingers trembling slightly as she did.
She glanced over her shoulder, making sure the coast was clear before speaking in a low voice, almost as though she feared someone might overhear.
"Anya," she began, her tone filled with a mixture of disbelief and concern, "you know... you really shouldn't mess with him. He's... he's dangerous."
Anya raised an eyebrow at her, the usual spark of mischief in her eyes.
"Dangerous?" she repeated, as if the word were a foreign concept.
She shrugged nonchalantly, her fingers absently tracing the edge of the counter.
"I've dealt with dangerous people before, Kaia. It's not exactly a new experience for me."
Kaia opened her mouth to protest but then faltered.
She had seen Anya handle all sorts of unruly customers in the past, from rude businessmen to disgruntled regulars.
But Atlas Valtieri wasn't just another rude businessman.
He was Atlas Valtieri. A man whose name alone was enough to send shivers down the spine of even the most hardened CEOs.
He wasn't the type of man you crossed, not unless you wanted to see your life turned upside down.
And yet, there Anya stood, casually playing with fire as though she were completely unfazed.
Anya's eyes flickered toward the door through which Atlas had just walked out.
The cool morning air had blown in after him, carrying with it the faint scent of freshly brewed coffee and a tension that still hung in the air.
She couldn't deny it-there was something about Atlas that intrigued her, something that kept her on her toes in a way no one else ever did.
Kaia noticed the look in Anya's eyes and groaned.
"I can't believe you're still this calm," she muttered, running a hand through her hair, clearly at her wit's end.
"That man could snap his fingers and you'd be out of a job faster than you could blink, and don't even get me started on what else he could do to you."
Anya leaned back slightly, a playful smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Yeah, but you're forgetting one thing." She paused, letting the weight of her words settle. "He hasn't done it yet."
Kaia blinked, taken aback. "What does that mean?"
Anya's gaze flicked to the door again, as if Atlas were still standing there, just out of sight. "It means that if he really wanted me gone, he would have made it happen by now," she said, her voice a little softer this time. "But he keeps coming back."
Kaia gaped at her. "You think that's a good thing?!"
Anya didn't answer right away. She simply let out a quiet breath, her fingers now tapping rhythmically against the counter as her mind wandered back to the brief, tense exchanges she had shared with Atlas.
The way his gaze seemed to pierce through her, the way he hadn't flinched when she challenged him, the way his presence made the entire café hold its breath whenever he entered.
He was unlike anyone she had ever met.
He didn't intimidate her, not in the way most people would expect.
In fact, there was something oddly exhilarating about the way he carried himself, so poised and composed, with the kind of quiet power that radiated from every move he made.
He wasn't some faceless rich guy she had to pretend to care about; he was Atlas Valtieri, a man who commanded attention without saying a word. A man who was, undeniably, a challenge.
And Anya? Well, she lived for challenges.
She had always been the type to dive headfirst into situations that made most people run in the opposite direction. Whether it was tackling a difficult coffee order or calling out rude customers, Anya had never been one to back down. But Atlas? He wasn't like anyone else.
There was something magnetic about him, something that made her want to see just how far she could push him.
The way he held himself so firmly, his unshakeable confidence-it fascinated her.
For the first time in a long while, Anya had found herself in a position where she wasn't entirely sure what to expect.
And that intrigued her in ways she couldn't quite explain.
Kaia shook her head, clearly not understanding. "You're playing a dangerous game, Anya. He's not someone you want to test."
Anya's smile widened. "Maybe I like playing dangerous games," she said lightly, though there was a flicker of something deeper behind her words. "But it's not about testing him. It's about... understanding him."
Kaia stared at her, blinking in disbelief. "Are you seriously saying you want to understand him?"
Anya's gaze grew distant for a moment, her thoughts drifting back to the brief moments they'd shared in silence. The way his eyes had lingered on her just a second longer than usual, the way he'd signed his demands with such precision, the way she had felt a strange charge in the air between them.
Anya had never been one to shy away from a challenge, but there was something different about Atlas Valtieri. Something that made her want to dig deeper, to find out what made him tick. To see if there was more to the man than the cold, calculating exterior.
She glanced back at Kaia and shrugged. "Yeah, I think I do."
The two women stood in silence for a moment, Kaia looking at her like she was some kind of insane person. But Anya didn't mind. She was used to being the odd one out.
In fact, she kind of liked it.
