NINE #2
“Be our plus one Saturday night.” Our.
“You, Professor Madden and Kaden?” I asked for clarification and he gave me a nod of confirmation.
I chewed the inside of my cheek with uncertainty.
I didn’t know what ‘our plus one’ meant, or where we were even going, but what I did know for certain was that I trusted Logan, and I wanted to be with him in any way I could. So, I smiled. “Sure, I’ll be your plus one.”
“I need you to know it’s an exclusive event. And it’s explicit,” he clarified. He must’ve picked up on my confusion because he proceeded to elaborate. “Are you familiar with the term BDSM, Dakota?” he asked, making me pause in thought.
Hesitantly—I nodded. “Yeah… I’ve heard a few girls throw the term around but I’ve never done further research.”
“It’s an acronym. Bondage, discipline, dominance, submissive, sadism and masochism. Do you know what that is?”
“Uh…” I trailed off. “Dominance and submissive are kind of self explanatory— oh!” I gasped, cutting myself off. “Is this event like—” I paused looking toward the door. “A sex club?” I whispered leaning in towards him.
“Yes, Dakota—”
My gasp became even louder as I stepped towards him and he pushed his palm over my mouth. My eyes shot him a quick apology and he lowered his hand.
“You want to take me to a sex club?” I whispered, even more flabbergasted. When I noticed the slight frown in his expression, I quickly apologised but he only grinned. “Sorry— wait, the three of you actually want to take me?”
“Yes, we do. You’re curious as to why Chase wanted to watch us, aren’t you?
” he asked and I swallowed hard. I was. And, I’m still quite intrigued to say the least. I nodded and he continued.
“We want to share that part of ourselves with you, but Dakota, it’s not something you share with just anyone. It’s private.”
“No, no. I understand,” I assured him. “And, I really appreciate you trusting me enough to show me, so yes. I would love to accompany you.”
His smile was hesitant but he leaned in to peck my lips nonetheless.
“There’s a lot more I’d like to expose you to before the event.”
“Good, because I have some questions,” I said, looking up at him as I wrapped my arms around his neck and he rested his hands on my waist.
“Of course, you do,” he grinned. “But, for now you have class to get to.”
I sighed, throwing my head back in annoyance. “It’s only my abnormal psychology class,” I groaned, lifting my head to look up at him. “Can’t I just skip it and stay with you?”
There was a flicker of disapproval in his eyes before he spoke. “No. And I have work to do.”
“Please?” I pleaded. “It’s just one class, and you won’t even know I’m there, I swear,” I insisted.
“Dakota.”
I dropped my eyes to his lips, stepping closer to eliminate the space between us and I could feel the heat radiating off his muscular chest.
“Is it so wrong that I just want to be close to you?”
“It is when it requires you to skip classes,” he shot back and I dropped my shoulders. “Class. Now,” he gave my ass a quick squeeze and my groan was irritable.
“Okay, okay, I’m going,” I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bag before opening the door and sneakily slipping out.

By the end of day I was driving up the guy’s driveway, turning off my engine with a deep breath in, and a slow exhale.
I grabbed my handbag before getting out of the car and slipping my keys into the pocket of my jacket.
As I approached the front door, I spotted Kaden lighting a cigarette. I greeted him with a smile, and only then did he lift his head to meet my gaze. He simply raised a sharp, confused brow at me when I stopped in front of him.
“Is Logan home?”
He took a pull from his cigarette, blowing the smoke out in the opposite direction. His voice was gruff, sending chills down my spine. “No.”
I nodded, going to stand beside him as I clutched the strap of my bag with both hands, looking in the same direction as him.
“Do you know when he’ll be home?” I asked, and once again, I got a vague, uninterested answer.
“No.” Right.
“Not much of a conversationalist, are you?” I asked, slightly tilting my head back as I looked up at him.
With his cigarette pressed between his thumb and pointer finger he brought it to his lips but stopped.
“I can be,” he answered. “With the right people.”
That felt like a jab to my chest. Like a subtle hint that he wasn’t interested in me or this conversation.
But, luckily for him, I was never one to give up. I’ve always gotten what I wanted. And right now, I want his attention.
“Well, in that case, are you going to be chivalrous and invite me inside until Logan comes home?” I asked, watching him stare ahead toward my car. “You can pour me a drink and we can dissect this ‘right people’ concept you refer to,” I teased.
I could’ve sworn a gleam of amusement twinkled in his eyes as he looked down at me. He took one last pull, before tossing his cigarette into the ashtray.
He turned his body toward me and extended his hand out in front of him— signaling for me to head inside.
I smiled as I entered the house, making sure to sway my hips just enough before entering the living room. Dakota 1. Fear of Kaden 0.
I dropped my handbag on the couch, using the opportunity to scan the room.
This was the very first time I’d be alone with Kaden. As much as it sparked an unknown fear inside of me, I knew we needed this. I was, in fact, going to be his— their— plus one.
