CHAPTER 34

Jannie

Jannie watched Nick take off his headset, pride swelling in her chest. Today’s flight was a pediatric case that needed medical repatriation for continued care after specialized treatment at UMC.

The demand for his services was so high that as soon as he opened for business, he immediately became busy but not so busy that he was away from home too much.

Jannie flew with him whenever she could and looked forward to being type-rated on this Lear so she could fly right seat.

That required her to have a commercial multi-engine license, and she was diligently working toward that, with Nick’s help, of course.

Flying with him was exhilarating. Even more exhilarating was being his wife. Things were good. So good that sometimes it felt like a dream.

Speaking of dreams, Nick hadn’t had a nightmare in quite a while, and she hoped this streak would continue.

He turned, a cocky grin on his handsome face. “All good back there?”

“All good!” the ER doctor, Miancka Salters, said. “It’s always smooth as butter when you land the plane.”

“Hey!” Troy Salters, Nick’s first officer and Miancka’s husband, undid his harness and fake-glared at his wife.

She laughed, and so did Nick and Jannie.

They were lucky to have met them one evening while dining at the Mile High.

Not only did the couple meet Jannick Med SERV’s needs perfectly, but they also quickly became close friends.

Troy had been looking for a job after being laid off, Miancka jumped at the chance to leave the hospital and work with Nick and Jannie, and everything fell into place.

Miancka showing up at just the right time was a blessing. Before she could start caring for patients on Nick’s ambulance, Jannie needed to get the proper certifications, complete training in emergency medicine and air medical services, and gain some experience in critical care.

Between working on all that and her commercial multi-engine, she was incredibly busy, but never had she been so happy and fulfilled.

Miancka unfastened her seat belt. “So, you guys up for some fun later?”

“What did you have in mind?”

Miancka’s eyes sparkled. “Dancing.”

“Dancing?” That would be nice, but Nick couldn’t dance. Moreover, he hated crowds. Jannie shook her head. “I think we’ll—”

“Good idea!” Nick interrupted, extricating himself from the left seat. “Where did you have in mind?”

Jannie looked at him in confusion. Dancing was the last thing she expected Nick to want to do.

“Zouk! Tiesto will be there, and I’ve never seen him.”

Oh. Jannie really wanted to see the popular DJ.

“Sounds good,” Nick said. “What time?”

“It’s best to be there right at ten, or the wait time is killer. They open at ten-thirty.”

“What’s the wait time?” Nick reached to unlatch the door.

“About an hour.”

“Doable.”

“All right!” Troy rubbed his hands together. “Should be a great time. Eat something at home. They’ve only got snacks.”

“Will do.” Nick lowered the stairs. “See you there.”

·

“Well. That, I was not expecting.”

Jannie squeezed Nick’s hand, her fingers intertwined with his, as they entered their house through the garage.

“Surprised you, didn’t I?”

“You sure did.”

“Well, I’m glad I didn’t embarrass you this time.”

She smiled. The last time he danced with her was at the convention the night they met, and she guessed he was the one who felt embarrassed.

“You were hot, husband. You might have warned me.”

“And miss your face when I dragged you to the middle of the floor? No way.”

Unbeknownst to her, Nick had taken dance lessons.

And his performance on the floor tonight at Zouk had her firing on all cylinders.

Like everything he did, the man had put a lot of effort into it.

The result: some confident and seriously sexy moves that had people making room and clapping.

Jannie watched too, until she couldn’t just observe anymore and had to do something about it.

That he would do this for her, especially brave the crowds, made her adore him even more, though she hadn’t thought that possible. Nick wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for her.

Rolf’s full-throated bark sounded before he rounded the corner, bounding down the hallway to greet them with doggy enthusiasm.

“Hey, big guy.” Nick headed to the patio door to let him out, with Rolf happily trotting beside him. “Good job guardin’ the place.”

The place was a three-bedroom, three-bath home that ticked all the boxes, including a fenced yard and a two-car garage.

It was half the size of Jannie’s house in Orlando but perfect for their current needs.

Especially since it had a huge bedroom that Nick had turned into a bondage paradise, and Jannie’s whole body tingled whenever she so much as glanced at that door, which she had painted gray to Nick’s amusement.

The image of Nick this weekend, all bound for her erotic pleasure, made her entire body suffuse with heat.

The man gave good instruction, whether it was on flying a plane or tying him up with rope, and she couldn’t wait to get him in there again.

Every scene was mind-blowingly intense, and Jannie wished she hadn’t wasted all that time fearing something that, once she got into it, she couldn’t imagine living without.

It was their sweet secret, and she cherished it.

Approaching their bedroom, her heart began to race at the sound of the shower. Smiling to herself, she diverted to the guest bedroom and hurriedly showered in there. Nick was hers tonight, and she wasted no time cleaning the sweat and the smell of the club off her body.

She chose a simple peach leather corset—Nick didn’t like black on her—and nude patent pumps, leaving her hair flowing freely down her back, just the way he liked it. A spritz of his favorite perfume, and she was ready.

The moment she stepped into the hallway, so did he, a black towel wrapped around his waist, clearly headed for their bedroom.

He took one look at her and stopped in his tracks.

“Oh,” was all he said.

“Yeah, Nicholas. Oh. Get in the kink room. Now.”

“Kink room.” He chuckled, as he always did when she called it that. “I thought you were worn out from all the dancing.”

“You thought wrong.” She fixed him with a stare. “Your dirty dancing got me going. Now, get in there … sir.”

His lips twitched. “Yes, ma’am.”

Nick changed direction and headed toward the gray door, his strides long and confident. Even barefoot and only in a towel, he carried himself as if he ruled the world.

Mine, she thought, watching his muscular ass shift under the towel. This man is mine, every gorgeous inch of him. And I’m about to own him yet again.

He opened the door, allowing her to enter first, then followed and closed it behind him, leaning against it in a casual pose that belied the fire in his dark eyes.

“How do you want me?”

“Naked. And hard.”

“Done.” With one flick of his wrist, he dropped the towel.

It hit the floor.

Her breath caught at the sight of him wearing nothing but his wedding ring. No matter how many times she saw him like this, his incredible proportions, powerful musculature, and, especially, his length, stunned her in the best way.

Desire fired, hot, in her veins.

He looked her up and down, his gaze moving slowly over her body, head to toe, a little smirk on his lips when he came back to her eyes. “You like what you see.”

It wasn’t a question but a bold statement.

She nodded. “Show me more of what I like.”

Slowly, slowly, his hand inched toward his rigid length.

He fisted himself. “Like this?”

She swallowed. “Uh-huh.”

“Does it turn you on, seeing me like this because of you?”

“You know it does.”

He stroked himself, once. “Doing this because of you?”

“Yes.”

“You like to watch me, don’t you?”

She couldn’t answer; her throat had gone dry.

“Yeah, you like to watch, beautiful girl. You know what I’d like to watch?”

She swallowed.

His gaze dropped, lingering on her lips.

“Me, filling your pretty little mouth with this.”

She blinked. Occasionally, he subtly hinted at wanting that.

It wasn’t a hint this time.

Jannie’s pulse skyrocketed. She didn’t … couldn’t …

No.

She knew the moment he saw it in her eyes, because his face fell.

His hand dropped to his side. He searched her face intently, and she clearly saw the worry there.

“All right. It’s time to address this.”

She stiffened. “There’s nothing to address.”

“But there is. This is us. You are my wife. There isn’t anything we can’t discuss.”

You suck at sucking dick, Jannie.

There Blake was again, poisoning her life, even after all this time.

Nick started toward her then, and all thoughts of Blake flew out the window.

One step. Two.

Her heart rate quickened with every stride until Nick stood right before her, all powerful, hard male, and she could feel the heat radiating from him as his familiar, arousal-stirring scent filled her nostrils.

He took her hand, placed it on his erect length, and covered it with his. She shuddered as he forced her fingers to grip him.

He moved her thumb over his smooth, slick tip. “Tell me …” His voice was a harsh whisper. “Does this disgust you, Jannie?”

What? How could he even think that? “No!”

She looked up at him and saw him blink hard in evident relief.

“Then will you taste me?”

She swallowed. “Yes.”

He brought their joined hands to her mouth. She parted for him, and he slipped her wet thumb inside, watching her closely as the first taste of him spread across her tongue.

She closed her eyes.

“How is it?” he asked.

“Salty. Clean. It’s you.”

He nodded. “Nothing about this is dirty, Jannie. What you and I do to pleasure one another is for us, and us alone.”

“It’s not that.” How could she explain this? “I don’t want to disappoint you,” she finally admitted softly.

“Disappoint me?” Eyes widening, he shook his head. “Beautiful girl, nothing you do could ever disappoint me.”

“I don’t know how to do this.”

“Well.” A sly grin spread across his face. “When did that ever stop you?”

She gave a nervous laugh. “You have a point.”
