SIN Looks Good On Us 2!
CHAPTER ONE
I sat in the passenger’s seat of Jokah's Range Rover with the engine still running, even though I had no intention of going anywhere.
My hands wouldn't stop shaking, and my eyes stayed locked on Kyrie's front door, waiting for something...
anything to tell me what was happening on the other side of it.
Every second that passed without hearing anything made my imagination run wild. I grabbed my phone off the passenger seat and called Armani. Right now, I needed to hear the one voice that had always made me feel safe.
She answered on the second ring, all carefree and shit, completely unaware of what had happened.
"Girl, what's up?"
I opened my mouth to answer, but instead of words, I broke down crying.
"Kaior?" Her voice changed instantly. "Kaior, what's wrong? Talk to me."
I wiped at my face, trying to steady my breathing. "Kyrie wouldn't let me leave. He pinned me down on the bed. Jokah came in, threw him into the dresser, then sent me outside and locked the door."
"He did what?" Armani's voice shot up. "I'm on my way."
"No." I sat up straighter and tightened my grip on the steering wheel. "Armani, don't. I don't want you anywhere near this house right now."
"Kaior, are you serious? You just told me—"
"I know what I told you." My voice cracked. "I just need you to stay on the phone with me."
She went quiet for a second. I could hear her moving around on the other end, and I already knew she was probably standing by the front door with her keys in her hand.
"Mani..." I stared back at the house, feeling my chest tighten all over again. "What if the stories are true?"
She didn't ask me which stories.
She already knew.
"Kaior... don't do that."
"What if he really is what everybody says he is?"
"Kaior, he's never hurt you. Not once. He came over there because Kyrie put his hands on you. That's not the same thing."
"I know, but..."
"But nothing. You're scared right now, and I get it, but don't turn that man into a monster because you're shaken up."
I tightened my grip around the steering wheel, trying to convince myself she was right.
"Armani... I don't know what's happening in there."
"I know. But you gotta trust that he ain't about to do nothing that'll come back on him. He cares about you too much for that."
Before I could answer, the front door swung open.
I froze.
"Kaior?" Armani's voice came through the phone. "What's happening?"
"Hold on," I whispered.
I stared at the front door, my heart pounding so hard I could hear it in my own ears, waiting to see who was about to walk through it.
The front door closed behind Kaior, and the second it did, I turned around. Hulk grabbed the rest of her things and headed toward the door without me saying a word. He already knew what time it was.
Now it was just me and Kyrie. He opened his mouth like he was about to say something.
I punched that nigga dead in his shit before a single word came out.
His head snapped to the side, and he stumbled backward into the coffee table before falling through the glass.
I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and dragged him right back up.
"This for putting your hands on her."
I punched him in his ribs repeatedly. He folded over, coughing, trying to catch his breath.
"This for cheating on her."
Another punch landed on his jaw, spraying blood across the hardwood floor.
"And this..." I slammed him into the wall hard, his body crumbled to the floor, then I started kicking him in the ribs. "...this for threatening me with the police."
He balled up in the fetal position and covered his head, but I wasn't finished. I snatched him back up and punched him in his stomach. Kyrie wasn't trying to fight. He was just trying to survive.
I grabbed his collar with my left hand and jerked him up, forcing him to look me in the eyes. Then I pulled my pistol with my right hand and pressed the barrel flat against his forehead. His breathing changed instantly.
"You know what I do to bitch-ass niggas that threaten me with the police?" I cocked the hammer back. "I put a hole in they motherfuckin' head."
"Please..."
That was the first smart thing he'd said since I walked through the door.
"You lucky she asked me not to kill yo’ muthafuckin’ ass. Cause I’ll redecorate this bitch witcho yo’ blood and brain matter.”
I never moved the gun.
"You put your hands on my woman."
I let that sit.
"Then you threatened me with the police. Where I come from, bitch-ass niggas disappear for less."
I watched every bit of fear settle into his face.
"You still breathing because she asked me to let you."
I lowered the gun and let him fall back onto the floor. He hit it hard, coughing and trying to pull himself together. It wasn't gonna help him.
"By tomorrow morning..." I looked down at him. "you ain't gon' have a job… a bitch ...or nowhere to live. Now, tell the police that shit."
He stared at me without saying a word. Maybe now he understood. I tucked my pistol into my waistband and headed toward the front door. Right before I reached it, I stopped.
"Stay the fuck away from her. Don't call her. Don't text her. Don't drive by her muthafuckin’ job. Don't even say her motherfuckin' name."
I opened the door.
"Oh..." I looked back over my shoulder. "Matter fact... Don't even dream about her. And if you do... you better wake up and apologize."
I walked outside and found Kaior sitting in the passenger seat exactly where I told her to be. I climbed behind the wheel and held my hand out.
"Lemme get your keys."
She reached into her purse, dropped the key ring into my palm, and watched me without asking a single question. I cracked my window.
"Hulk."
He walked over, and I dropped the keys into his hand.
"Bring her car."
"Got it."
Hulk headed toward Kaior's car while I pulled away from the curb.
I could feel Kaior looking at me, trying to read my face without actually asking what happened after she walked outside.
I reached across the console, took her hand, and turned it over in mine.
My thumb brushed across the faint red marks around her wrist where Kyrie had grabbed her.
My jaw tightened before I let her hand go.
"You hungry?"
