Chapter 17

CHAPTER

SEVENTEEN

NOLA

“I am so glad I threw this party.”

“Yeah,” I mumble, not paying attention, my eyes locked on the staircase.

It’s been thirty minutes since I came downstairs after seeing Wesley go into his room with that girl.

What the hell is taking so long? Is his dick broken or something? Why would it take thirty minutes to cum?

I bet that bitch is milking it as much as she can.

I mean the situation, but she’s probably milking his cock too.

Maybe I should be more considerate, seeing how this is literally going to be the last thing she ever gets to do. I guess the least I could do is allow her some orgasms.

As much as I’m looking forward to adding names to my murder roster, what I’m really looking forward to is hearing what people will say. I hope that the word spreads around that anyone who fucks Jasper, Wesley, or Sylas will wind up dead.

They would deserve it. Maybe the guys should keep their dicks in their pants and give me the chance to earn my spot at their side instead of taunting me with these girls.

“Nola?” Callie steps in front of me. “Are you okay?”

“Huh?” I blink, shaking my head. “Sorry. What did you say?”

Her brows furrow. “I said, I’m glad I threw this party. Jonah has been talking to me for the last hour.” She grins wide. “He’s so hot and interesting. The way he listens to everything I say,” she sighs. “He’s perfect.”

“No one is perfect.”

“True. But he’s nothing like the guys I’ve grown up around in my life, and that's what matters to me.”

“So, what about him do you like? Other than his looks.”

“He’s funny. And sweet. He held the door open for me once. And when I spilled my drink, he gave me a napkin.”

I blink at her, not sure what to say. “You’re joking, right?”

“Fine,” she sighs. “It’s mostly because he’s insanely gorgeous, but isn’t the whole point of dating? To get to know the other person?”

“Don’t ask me.” I shrug. “I’ve never dated anyone. And don’t plan on it.”

“Really?” She cocks her head to the side. “So, you don’t want to be in a relationship?”

“Never said that.” I don’t plan on dating Jasper, Wesley, or Sylas. That's something you do to see if you're compatible. There’s no point. I’m perfect for them.

Yes, yes, I know I told Callie no one is perfect. And I myself am not perfect, but in this situation, I am.

“I just don’t see the need to waste time when you know you’re going to be with that person.”

“I’m not following.”

“Never mind.” I wave her off. “I’m glad your night is going well.”

“Are you having fun?” she asks. “I realized I’ve kind of just been ignoring you for a while. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. Honestly, I’m okay with you going off and doing your own thing. I don’t want to hold you back. Parties aren't my thing. I’m more of an introvert.”

“Well, shit. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have bugged you about coming then.”

“Stop apologizing,” I laugh. “It’s fine, really.”

“Do you want to go home?” she asks. “I can get one of the guys to drive you back?”

“Nah. I got my car, remember? I haven’t been drinking, so I’m good on that front, but I’m not leaving just yet.”

“Let’s go dance again,” she suggests.

Something out of the corner of my eye catches my attention.

It’s the girl Wesley was with. She’s alone, but the look on her face says she’s very satisfied with whatever just went down.

I hope it was worth it, that it was the best sex of her life, because it’s going to cost her exactly that. Her life.

I get a good look at her face, remembering it so I know just who to grab when the time is right.

“No. Really. It’s okay. Go hang out with James.”

“It’s Jonah,” she corrects, raising a brow.

“Yeah, Jimmy, that’s what I said. Go, have fun.” I wave her off.

She laughs, shaking her head. “You’re the best.”

“I know,” I call after her as she leaves.

Turning my attention back towards the stairs, I curse. She’s gone.

Oh well, I can’t really do anything right now anyway because I still have to change.

I head back upstairs to grab my bag. As I’m leaving Callie’s room, a door down the hallway opens.

“Nola?” Wesley’s voice has me pausing.

My head snaps to the side. He’s standing in the hallway, leaning against his door frame. His hair is wet, and he’s only dressed in a towel, which is wrapped around his waist.

My mind goes blank as I slowly drink him in. So many tattoos. God, he’s so fucking hot.

“Huh?” I managed to finally get out. “What?”

He raises a brow, and I just realized he’s smoking. Where the hell did he pull that from? His asshole?

“You’re back up here?” His eyes drop to my bag. “Are you leaving?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because parties aren’t my thing.”

“Of course they’re not,” he chuckles, taking a puff of his cig. He pushes off the door frame and starts to walk towards me.

I’m frozen in place, unable to move. My heart picks up speed, racing faster and faster with every step he takes.

When he reaches me, he doesn’t stop, forcing me to take a step back, trapping me against the wall.

Swallowing hard, I tilt my head back with a mix of arousal and anticipation. He towers over me, placing one hand on the wall, the cigarette tucked snugly between his fingers, while his other hand reaches up, brushing the hair off my shoulder.

A full body shiver wracks through me, and the corner of his lips kick up.

“Things would be so different,” he murmurs, eyes flicking between mine. “If only you’d live a little, opening your eyes to the world around you.”

He cocks his head to the side. “It's a shame,” he hums, his eyes dropping to my lips as my tongue pokes out to swipe across the bottom one.

“We could have had so much fun with you.” My heart stops as his eyes flick back up to mine.

“Shame,” he repeats before pushing off the wall.

“Be safe out there, Nola,” Wesley murmurs, taking another puff of his cigarette.

“You never know what kind of monsters are lurking in the shadows.”

He gives me a lazy smirk, smoke snaking out of his nose as he takes another step back.

Then he turns around, walking back towards his room. I’m unable to look away, watching him as he goes.

His towel drops to the floor, and I suck in a gasp. He lets out a deep, heady chuckle as his ass flexes with every step he takes. “Good night, Nola,” he says, before disappearing into his room.

That ass. That fucking ass is criminal.

Groaning, I turn around and race down the stairs. I need to get out of here before I do something stupid like follow him into his room like a dumbass just to see what he might do.

Once I’m in my car, I toss my bag into the back and lift up the false bottom of the front passenger floorboard.

Checking out the windows to make sure no one is watching, I quickly get changed in the back seat of my Jeep. I haven't put the mask on, not yet. Just in case.

When I’m dressed, I get out of the Jeep and take the long way around their property to the back gate.

“Show time,” I mutter, bag of goodies in hand. I still haven’t decided if I want to leave her body here or bring it back with me.

I feel like with the girl from the cafe, I didn’t leave a big enough impression. I haven’t even heard anything from the news. I asked Dad if he had heard anything from his buddies at the police station, but he said no.

Like, what the fuck? I left a photo of myself with the dead body at the scene of the crime! Shouldn’t that make headline news or something?

Dad said they are probably just trying to keep it quiet, not wanting to worry the public.

Well, fuck them. How the hell am I going to leave a legacy for myself if no one knows that the Butterfly Killer exists?

Before I get in the range of any of their cameras, I slip the mask over my head and walk down the back alley behind Sylas’ house. The downside is that a lot of these properties are close together, despite the sizes of the houses. And there is not much of a backyard for most.

Each of the guys' properties are slightly larger than most, but I can see why Sylas doesn’t want to hold parties here. There’s not much privacy, and definitely not for the kinds of things they like to get up to.

It’s pretty dark back here with no street lights around, giving me the perfect cover.

I slip in through the back gate, around the garden shed, and keep close to the fence. The good thing is that this party wasn’t very big to begin with. Not like the ones the guys throw in the cemetery. So there aren’t many people back here, and so far, no one has seen me.

Why the hell did I think doing this was a good idea? It’s so damn risky, anyone could catch me right now.

Maybe I should turn around and leave, save this girl for another time. I could always track down where she lives and slit her throat while she's sleeping. I mean, that would make a statement, right?

I’m about to change my mind about this whole plan when none other than the girl in question makes her way outside.

She looks drunk based on how she’s walking. She stumbles down the steps and towards the side of the house. A second later, I hear puking sounds.

Gross.

Creeping my way over to her, I change back to my original plan. I mean, she’s right here. It’s like she fell into my lap. How could I not take this opportunity, right?

“You know, it’s rude to puke in someone else’s garden. That's nasty.”

The girl looks over at me, bent over at the waist.

“What the fuck?” she groans. “Who the hell are you?” She stands up, wiping at her mouth with the back of her hand. “Why do you have a mask on?”

“Why do you think it’s okay to fuck other girls’ boyfriends?” I cock my head to the side.

She narrows her eyes at me. “Okay, who are you? Are you some crazy girlfriend or something? Look. I fucked Tyson one time. I didn’t know he had a girlfriend until after.”

“Tyson?” I murmur. “Huh. Yeah, no. I’m not Tyson’s girlfriend, but you’re a lot worse off than I thought.”

She crosses her arms. “Listen, lady, I don’t want any drama. It’s not my fault if a guy doesn’t want to be faithful. I can fuck whoever is willing.”
