Chapter 19 #3
I blink at her, a little shocked by how well she’s taking this.
I guess I shouldn’t be. She was chill about me killing people in honor of my love for her brother, I’m sure wanting their blood in my tattoo isn’t as bad as that.
I could just get the tattoo, but I want it to be more sentimental. I’m doing all of this for them, so getting their blood to make them a part of the tattoo only makes sense.
I’m starting to see that Callie and I might be a lot more alike than I originally thought.
“If you need any help, let me know.”
“You’re the best, you know that,” I tell her with appreciation.
“I know.” She winks. “But please, feel free to sing me praises some more.”
It’s a warm night tonight. The moon is out, as are the stars. It’s the perfect night to go for a walk. I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve gotten to do this.
I miss it.
Life has just been so busy, I haven’t had much free time.
It’s a Friday night, and while I could be out doing something with Callie, I turned her down when she asked me to go to the movies.
There isn’t anything I want to see, and honestly, I just wanted a night to myself. Who knew I’d miss being an introverted loser with no friends nor a social life so much?
Okay, I don’t exactly miss it. I love Callie and our friendship.
But I didn’t think about how all these new changes would add up with the amount of time it would be taking out of my day-to-day.
With one earbud in, I listen to Ashnikkio while I walk my usual trail.
The sounds of voices have me pausing the song. Taking my earbud out, I stop and listen.
“It’s been too fucking long.”
Hold up, I know that voice. It’s Sylas.
They’re here? Why?
“I want to tell you that you're being overdramatic, but I’m inclined to agree with you,” Wesley replies in his bored tone.
“Do you think hooking up with anyone right now is a good idea?” Jasper asks. “If someone really is watching us, then what will keep them from killing her?”
“We’ll be more careful,” Sylas counters.
“We have a list of approved girls who are ready and willing to sign the contract and let us do whatever the fuck we want to them. We can pick one of them. We can invite her to the Maison Métier. I’ll book the penthouse suite.
We made a mistake bringing anyone back to our house. We went against our own rules.”
“We didn’t,” Jasper corrects. “Wesley did.”
“The girl was practically sucking my dick already,” Wesley mutters. “Fuck off.”
“We’re thinking too much into this,” Sylas says. “It was probably just some crazy, jealous ex-boyfriend of hers.”
“And left a creepy selfie with her behind?” Jasper scoffs. “Who would do something so fucked up?”
“Uh, us,” Sylas points out.
“Never,” Jasper growls.
I carefully creep forward towards the sound.
Peaking through the bushes, I see the three of them sitting on a picnic table. Jasper is standing, arms crossed, looking grumpy like always. Sylas is sitting on the bench, and Wesley is sitting on top of it, one knee up, the other foot on the bench, with a cigarette in his hand
“Whatever,” Sylas grumbles. “It was one dead girl killed in a creepy way. It has nothing to do with us. Now, back to this weekend. My company has been developing this new recreational drug. It’s supposed to give you an epic high.
Like acid had a baby with mushrooms. I vote we have a little fun.
We deserve it. If we’re not at school, we’re at work.
Or dealing with the bullshit from the Brotherhood. ”
“That's life. We’re adults. This is the real world,” Jasper deadpans. “It’s time we grow up and take things more seriously."
“Okay, captain buzz-kill,” Sylas mutters. “Wesley, you in?”
“Fuck yeah.” Wesley blows out a stream of smoke. “I could use it.”
“You just had your cock sucked. And you.” Jasper looks to Sylas. “You’ve fucked at least five girls at school since the year started.”
He has? How the fuck did I not know about this? Ugh. The campus is too big. If this were high school, I’d have caught them.
“Last time we all shared a girl was the ritual,” Sylas says.
“And even then, we weren’t able to fully let loose because of Brotherhood rules and all that bullshit,” he grumbles.
“You can’t tell me you haven’t been itching to just let go.
To take control. To get that rush of having someone's life in your hand.”
“Shut up,” Jasper growls. “Fine. If it will get you off my fucking back, we can. Don’t make this a habit. I’ve told you before.”
“Yeah, yeah. Work and Brotherhood before all. Even if that means I’m left with blue balls.”
I drop to my knees, hiding as the three of them get up to leave.
A slow grin takes over my face. Well, I’ve been waiting for a chance to get their blood. What better way than while they’re out of their minds, hallucinating leprechauns and unicorns?
Grabbing my phone out of my pocket, I sent Callie a quick text.
Me
You free to go with me to get a tattoo?
Callie
Yes. But I thought you needed the guy's blood.
Me
About that. The perfect opportunity just fell in my lap.
Guess this weekend is going to be a lot more eventful than I was hoping for. But, for this, I can make an exception.
