Chapter 31 #3
But she trusted my father to keep me safe, and he has.
She doesn’t know what I’ve been up to, and Dad thinks it’s best to keep it that way.
She does, however, know about Sylas, Jasper, and Wesley. When she found me crying the other day, I opened up about how we’ve been getting closer this year and how my head was a mess with all these mixed signals.
She told me that if they couldn’t see how amazing I am, they didn’t deserve me. I love her for that.
My mom knows who the guys are, their positions in the Brotherhood, and while she would rather I stay away from that world, she knows I’m more protected with these three than without.
“Well, you two look amazing. Have a great time tonight.” She smiles.
No photos are allowed for anything Brotherhood-related.
They don’t need to know I snuck a selfie with Callie on my Polaroid camera. It’s pinned to my wall next to the photo my mom took of me and the guys at my graduation.
“Thanks, Mom.”
“Thanks, Hazel.” Callie gives my mom a hug. I smile at the two of them, glad that I’m able to share her with my best friend; that I can share both of them with her. She needs people like my parents in her life.
Callie looks at her phone, then to me. “Time to go.”
We walk out of my house to find a sleek black car waiting for us. The door opens, and out steps Garrett.
He’s dressed in an all-black suit with a blood red tie.
He’s got one of his cocky smirks on his face, and he’s about to greet us, but as soon as he sees my bestie, his eyes widen and his lips part.
“Holy sweet mother of god,” I hear him murmur under his breath.
I can’t help but smile, looking from Callie to Garrett.
“Careful there, big guy,” I giggle as I descend the few steps from my porch to the driveway and towards him. “Might wanna close your mouth before something flies in there.”
Callie giggles behind me as Garrett snaps his jaw shut.
“Have my babies,” he blurts, stepping towards Callie.
“W-what?” she splutters, a look of shock on her face.
My eyes widen when I see Garrett get down on his knees and literally kiss her feet. “I am not worthy.”
I huff out a shocked laugh, loving every moment of this.
“Get up!” Callie hisses, looking embarrassed. “What is wrong with you?”
Garrett looks up at her with this big, dopey smile. “A lot,” he snickers.
“Oh my god.” She covers her face with her hands. “Could you be any more embarrassing?”
“Yes.” Garrett gets to his feet. “Wanna see?”
“No!” she shouts. “Just get in the damn car.” She shakes her head and rushes towards the front seat.
Garrett rushes to the door too and opens it before she can. “My lady,” he says with a bow.
“I can’t even with you,” she mutters, not looking him in the eye as she gets inside the car.
He looks over at me, a big smile on his face, and winks.
I grin, shake my head, and get into the back.
It’s only a matter of time before he wears her down. They’re perfect for one another. I can’t wait until she sees it.
The whole drive there, I’m a nervous wreck. This is the first time I’ve seen them since the night I told them everything.
I don’t know what's going on inside their minds, what they think about this new me they’ve discovered.
Am I what they’ve always wanted, what they wished they could have had, and finally can? Or was it something they didn’t actually want in real life, just loved the fucked up fantasy in their minds, and I just made it come crashing down?
They’re mine, I know it in my heart and soul. I love them. I need them.
If they don’t choose me, I don’t know what I’m going to do.
“Callie.”
“Yeah?”
“Would you hate me if I kidnapped your brothers until they’re forced to love me?”
Garrett lets out a surprised snort.
“No,” Callie says, dead serious. “I can help you, if you want.”
“You would do that for me?” I ask, feeling kind of misty-eyed.
“Fuck yeah,” Callie says. “If they’re too dumb to see how perfect you are for one another, then of course we’re going to have to force them to see it with their own eyes.”
“Slow down there, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, no need to plan a mass kidnapping. Lola, you’re fine. You’re not going to have to do anything to make sure they love you. I can promise you, they already do.”
Garrett’s words have my heart kicking into a full sprint and my stomach twisting in knots.
“But…”
“But what?” I rush out.
“They’re not going to make it easy,” he warns, sounding serious.
“What do you mean?” Callie asks.
“The only thing you’ve done to show them that you’re the girl for them is kill for them, right?”
“Yes.” I nod.
“That's not enough.”
My brows furrow.
“What do you mean?”
Garrett is quiet for a moment before he speaks.
“I can’t tell you any more than to just be ready to do whatever they tell you to do. Want to prove to them you can handle their lives, their kinks, their inner demons? Then you do what they say, no questions asked.”
“I can do that.” I nod firmly.
“Then I think you’re going to be just fine. Stop worrying, relax, and enjoy the night,” he says, looking at me in the review mirror. “I can promise you, it won’t be one you’ll forget.”
