Chapter 14 #3

“How can I help you two?” I questioned. The attorney adjusted his suit jacket before speaking.

“Mr. Porter, I’ll get right to the point. Mr. Cedrick Blake passed away a few weeks ago, and the reading of his will was held a few days ago. We’ve sent several letters, but they went unanswered.”

What the fuck was he talking about? Who the fuck is Cedrick Blake?

“In his will,” the attorney continued talking, “Mr. Blake stated that he believed he had another son. He advised that the mother of that child is Alexandria Porter, and the son in question is Legacy Porter.”

For a second, I just stood there staring at him like this muthafucka had three heads. Then I could feel myself becoming pissed.

“What the fuck!” I blurted, looking over at Zelly and then back to them.

“Mr. Blake’s net worth exceeds 1.6 billion dollars,” the attorney continued.

“He was the owner and president of Blake Corporation, which owns a host of hotels and casinos. The Luxe Casinos & Resorts, The Luxe Hotels, and The Grand Palisades Casino & Resorts located in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, New Jersey.”

“1.6 who?! Shiddd. Even if he ain’t that baby pappy. He is from this day until we cash our muthafuckin check ’cause we don’t turn down shit but our collar,” Rome said, and I looked at this nigga, shaking my damn head.

I tried my best to think clearly so that I could process what the fuck this man was saying. Because ain’t no way in hell these people were standing outside my house telling me I belonged to another family. My father is senator Richard Porter III.

“Yeah, I’m not sure what the fuck this is about,” I snapped, my voice hardening instantly.

“But I’m not his kid. Y’all got me fucked up and mistaken.”

I turned away slightly, already feeling my temper rising. Zelly must’ve noticed the change in my attitude because she started rubbing my arm to calm me down.

“Legacy, calm down. Let’s hear them out first. Then we can go see your mom. She can straighten all this out,” Zelly said. I looked up and Forever was walking up to us and her presence alone calmed me instantly.

The attorney sighed softly. “I’m sorry we’re coming to you like this, Mr. Porter. And I understand how all of this sounds, but we cannot proceed with any of Mr. Blake’s affairs until a DNA test is completed and the results are confirmed.”

I looked at him like he had lost his damn mind.

“Mr. Blake’s family would like to close this chapter and settle the estate properly.”

I laughed bitterly.

“This some bullshit.”

The younger dude with him finally spoke up.

He looked to be around my age, maybe a little younger. I looked his ass up and down, and on some real shit, the dude looked more like me than Logic did. You can tell that he was about his shit with his expensive watch and his tailored suit. He looked uncomfortable standing here.

“Listen, man,” he said, holding his hands up slightly. “I know this all sounds crazy, but I wanna get this over with as quickly as possible too.”

I cut my eyes at this nigga. “And who the fuck are you supposed to be?”

His expression changed slightly before he answered.

“Avante Blake. Cedrick Blake was my father.”

“Cedrick Blake, as in Blake Industries?” Forever questioned.

“Yes.” Avante smiled.

“I know you. Aren’t you the COO of the Luxe Hotel chain? Right?

“Yes, that’s me. You know the brand I see.” He smiled at Forever, licking his damn lips. He do that shit again and I’ma pull them bitches off his face and stuff them down his damn throat.

“Yes, I work for The Luxe Hotel in New York,” she replied.

“Oh, I’ll have to look you up when I’m back in New York at the hotel. What’s your name?” He asked her.

“Mine, that’s her name, nigga.” The fuck! This nigga got a death wish, and when it comes to me and mine, I’d kill you.

“Legacy,” Forever blurted.

I stared at him for a long moment before chuckling in disbelief at all of this shit.

“This shit gotta be a joke.” I shook my head.

“I can assure you that we’re not joking. We will need for you to get the DNA test as soon as possible,” he said, handing me a piece of paper and his card. “On that sheet is where you can go get the testing done.”

I dragged my hand down my face, feeling irritated as fuck. I could feel a crash out coming and my parents had some explaining to do as to why this man thinks I’m his son.

“I’ll be in touch,” I told him, and they nodded and got back into the car and left.

I wasted no time getting in Zelly’s car, and the ladies and Rome were right behind me.

It took us twenty minutes to get to my grandfather’s house and Zelly couldn’t even bring the car to a complete stop before I jumped out and headed inside.

I hated that I was on a thousand because I never wanted Forever to see me like this.

When we walked in, I got sidetracked because Forever grabbed my arm to stop me.

“Baby, please just be calm when you talk to them...” she said but stopped talking mid-sentence.

“OMG! Legacy, is that me?” she questioned and turned to see what she was talking about, and it was the painting I painted of her for the exhibit when I stayed at the hotel.

“Yes, baby. I painted that for my exhibit. I was just as much into you as you were into me. You’re beautiful, and I hope you know that.

My grandfather thought so as well, so he bought it.

I’ll make sure to refund him so that you can have it,” I told her, and she nodded her head with a smile still stuck on the painting.

She even pulled out her phone and took some pictures of it.

As much as I wanted to stand here and talk to her, I needed fuckin’ answers.

“Son, we’re glad you made it,” my mom said, about to wrap her arms around me, but I stepped back.

“Are you okay?” She asked.

“I had some visitors today. Who the hell is Cedrick Blake?” I questioned, and the room got quiet. It was like everything came to a damn stop. That fuckin’ name shook the room because, even my shit talking ass Pops got quiet.

“Where did you hear that name?” My mom looked from me to her husband. “His lawyer and son showed up at my house. And you wanna know what they said to me, mom? They said that Cedrick Blake was my father. Is that true?” I stepped closer to her because I needed to hear what she had to say.

“Legacy, let me explain. Ced--” I stopped her from speaking because she was about to start talking some bullshit, and all I wanted to hear was the fuckin’ truth.

“Is he my father?!” I yelled.

“Boy you better watch your mouth talking to my wife like that.” My pops stood from his seat.

“Man, get the fuck on with that shit. Is he my father?”

“Yes,” she blurted with a face full of tears. Hearing her admit that shit damn near crippled me, and I felt like someone had cut my air supply off.

“Fuckkkkkkkkkk!!! All this time. My whole fucking life has been a lie, and you didn’t say shit.

No wonder I couldn’t do shit right in this nigga’s eyes.

No wonder he treated me like shit! All this time he was mistreating me and giving Logic the world.

That’s because he hated me, and Logic was his blood son.

Don’t fuckin’ call my phone, don’t say shit to me EVER! ”

I turned and walked out with my mom screaming my name. Forever and Zelly were right behind me and I was losing it.

“Baby, I’m so sorry,” Forever said as tears fell from her eyes. I couldn’t even respond because I felt like life as I knew it was a fuckin’ lie, and the people I called my family played with me. Fuck them!
