VERENA

Three Weeks Later

After our weekend rendezvous, the four of us traveled the rest of the way back to Blackwood. I expanded Flame’s corner to make space for Mística and her things. Those girls love each other. One doesn’t do anything without the other. You name it, and they are paw-in-paw; they bounce back and forth between their beds, always cuddled up within each other. Dinner, walks, trips to the dog park, Flame will not leave without Mística and vice versa. They remind me of myself and Ronnie when we were younger, unable to be without each other. My heart pangs with both grief and satisfaction, hopeful that in another world, in another life, we have more time together.

In addition to the dogs loving each other, I’ve surprisingly found so much extra time in my days to focus on my creative mediums. School is back in session and even with projects and assignments, I’ve had more creativity flowing through my veins than I have in months, possibly years.

I’ve been working on a special piece since we returned from our trip. Two skeletons sit with their legs dangling at the edge of a cliff as they share a joint. The hues are dark and moody, and blend so melodically, that my heart blooms with pride. The red and black color palette represents us perfectly.

It’s the most profound piece I’ve created. I honestly fear I may never create anything I love as much as this. It’s called “Eternal Lovers” in honor of my growing feelings for Grimm. I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life, except for him. The feelings he’s awoken in me are unhinged, unmatched, and unfortunate for every other bitch who had their eyes on him.

He’s fucking mine. That’ll never change. Not in this life, not in the next, not even in death.

Our love is eternal.
