Chapter Thirty-Two
Sawyer
I look over at Matteo and then at the clock. Damon and Brynne still haven’t come out of the room and it's almost two. I don’t see how she could take much more fucking after last night.
“What a greedy little girl she is,” Matteo teases. He takes a sip of tea and I smirk.
“You’re a tea guy?” I joke.
He shrugs. “She has a whole stockpile of tea,” he says. I shake my head and sit back at the dining room table. I look up more on Max Penfield. If he truly went missing then his father would have done something by now.
“There it is,” I say.
“What?” Matteo walks behind me to see what I’m looking at. I show him the missing person’s report filed by David Penfield. I’m about to dive deeper when the bedroom door finally opens. Matteo looks at me and then we both lean to the left to try to see the stairs. The steps creak and down comes Brynne in a silk lavender robe. Last night flashes through my mind and my cock gets hard .
Then Damon walks down in just his jeans and blood down his chest. I look over to Brynne and see her red-stained lips. “What happened to you?” Matteo asks.
Damon shrugs. “Just having some fun.” I look back at Damon and he winks at Brynne. She laughs and walks into the kitchen.
“You call that fun?” I ask. Brynne walks back into the dining room with a mug in her hand. The steam rising up to her gorgeous face.
“I thought it was fun,” she laughs before taking a sip.
Matteo looks at Damon’s chest and then cringes.
“I thought I craved pain but I don’t think I would even let someone do that to me.” Matteo takes a sip of his tea and Brynne narrows her eyes at him. She sits on the table next to him.
“Are you just going to help yourself to my things now?” she asks. Matteo smirks and takes another sip of his tea.
“Seeming how you two were busy all morning, I figured I’d help myself.”
Brynne rolls her eyes and turns toward me. “What are you always working on?” she asks. I look toward Damon and he nods. I don’t know when we should have this talk with her. She needs to know what we do, but with her basement, I’m guessing she is in the same line of work as we are.
“The guy we were looking at disappeared and they just filed a missing person’s report on him,” I turn the laptop to show Brynne. She gives me a devilish grin and I know what she is about to say before she even opens her pretty little lips.
“I was wondering when they were going to report him missing,” she shrugs.
“It was you wasn’t it?” Matteo asks .
“Maybe,” Brynne winks. Damon smirks like he is proud of her.
“You can’t just say that and not tell me how you did it,” Matteo begs.
“Let's just say I left Max in pieces,” Brynne points to my computer. “Wait does it say anything about the flat?” she asks.
“No why?” I ask.
“I left their home videos as evidence for the police, but that doesn’t surprise me. The police don’t know how to handle a job laid out on a platter for them,” she pauses. “So if you’re so good at hacking then you have probably seen Clara’s work,” she smiles with pride.
“ Yes. It's quite impressive I may say.” I look up at
Brynne's blue eyes and her blonde hair falls over her shoulder. She turns toward me and her whole body is on the table. I want to run my hand up her tanned legs. To explore what's under her lavender robe. My cock aches to be let out of my pants. I glance at Damon from the corner of my eye and he grins at me. He can tell when I’m horny, but that doesn’t matter right now unless we plan on fucking our girl.
“I should probably call her to tell her I’m alright, even though I doubt she was worried in the first place. You guys weren’t a real threat anyway,” she shrugs and scoots the rest of the way to my side of the table. She jumps down and her bare feet land on the wooden floor. “I am going to need to use my phones eventually. I have work to do,” she explains.
“Phones? What kind of work involves multiple burner phones?” Matteo asks .
“We will talk about everything when Ryker gets back. I think it's about time we explain our plan to our little devil here,” Damon cuts in.
“ Where is Ryker anyway?” Matteo asks.
“It's Thursday. He goes golfing with his father every Thursday,” I explain.
Brynne raises her eyebrows in shock. “Interesting. I didn’t think Ryker liked his daddy dearest that much.”
“He doesn’t but he needs to keep up the good son act so his father doesn’t look into us. If he started looking then he would find out where we're staying,” I say.
“I am very curious about this conversation we are going to have when Ryker gets back,” Brynne smirks before going back upstairs. We hear the shower running a moment later.
“Are we really going to tell her everything?” I ask Damon.
“Yes,” he answers with finality. Matteo nods in approval and goes back to his damn tea. He gulps it down before standing up.
“I’m going to make sure Brynne doesn’t need any
help,” he winks and runs up the stairs. Damon shakes his head and joins me at the table.
“ What's the next move?” I ask.
“My time has run out for Epson so apparently I’m the next target,” he says in a condescending tone. I'd love to see someone try to kill Damon with all of us around. Even if he was on his own, he is a force to be reckoned with. “Did you find anything out about the number?” he asks.
“No not yet. I just know that it was local. It pinged in the next county over,” I explain. I’ve been searching for the person behind the number ever since Damon mentioned the threat. We don’t like to be blindsided and I try to make sure that never happens. Obviously, I failed when it came to Brynne. None of us knew she was going to be this badass woman who could kill with her bare hands.
“What's the next move?” I ask. I'll continue to search for the person so they won’t get in the way of our original plan. If I can't find out anything, I may stoop low and ask Clara for help. She is the only other person I’ve seen that matched my level of expertise in this area. She may not be on board after we broke into her house and threatened her, but hopefully Brynne can convince her that we sort of had good intentions.
“We just stay alert like always. I doubt they will come for me while Epson is still alive,” Damon says, not at all fazed that there is a bounty on his head. “We talk with Brynne first and make sure everyone is on the same page before we strike.”
