Chapter Twenty-four #2

She reached back, trying to push me away, but I caught her hands and pinned them against her back. I kept fucking, kept pounding, driving into her again and again. I didn’t stop until I felt her whole body shaking. Her cries got sharper, higher, and—

Splashhhh!

“Yes… I like it, Mama. Give me that fontaine de jouissance. Just like that. Keep coming for me, baby… Soak this bed… Gicle pour moi.”

“Konflict… the bed… ah… it’s wet…”

“Yeah, I know… give me more. You got more for me, beautiful? I know you can do it.”

“No… I can’t…” she trembled.

Slap… slap… slap.

I fucked her through her orgasm. God, her pussy was so wet I couldn’t last much longer myself.

A few more strokes and I was coming inside her pussy.

“Oh fuck… I love this pussy so much, Mama.”

“Konflict… hmmm… I’m… I want to sleep.”

I let go of her hands and grabbed her hips, pushing deep, emptying myself until there was nothing left. When I was finally done, she collapsed onto the bed, completely spent.

I slipped out and headed to the bathroom, my dick still half hard. I grabbed a towel, warmed it under the tap, and gently cleaned Serenity’s pussy. She was already drifting off when I scooped her up in my arms, always falling asleep the moment I gave her what she needed.

Since the bed was soaked, I carried her into my old bedroom and she immediately climbed on top of me.

Her hand slid down to stroke my dick a bit, getting me fully hard again, then she pushed herself down onto me.

Only when I was all the way inside did she rest her head on my chest and close her eyes.

“I love you, Mama.”

“Hmmm. I love you too.”

“Now sleep, Serenity.”

And then she slept. The only way she truly sleeps is with my dick inside her, her body wrapped around me. I’ve never known anyone who needed that to sleep, but that’s Serenity. Honestly, I liked it too. I loved the routine we share and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

My phone was buzzing on the nightstand when I opened my eyes and Serenity was nowhere to be found. I must’ve been out cold to not notice her leave.

I sat up and answered my phone.

“Krash. Why are you calling me this late?” I said, answering my phone.

Leaving the bed, I pulled on a pair of pants and left the bedroom, already moving to find my wife. I hated when she left me alone in bed.

“Konflict, I found something and I couldn’t wait,” Krash replied.

“What’s going on?”

I checked Serenity’s room, just in case she was there.

“Marquette. He’s definitely tied to the Sawyer’s. He lied about not promising them a seat. Well, it wasn’t him directly, but he was supposed to bring them into the council.”

“So he was in contact with them? According to Serenity, the Sawyer’s set up the hit on one of Vince Veylor’s shipments and pinned it on the Korven’s.

That’s what led to him killing my mother and started the war.

Was Marquette behind that move? Because if he was, I won’t spare him,” I said as I walked into the living room, still with no sign of my wife.

A voice deep inside me started to worry.

“Here’s where it gets really fucked up and what pisses me off the most. Marquette wasn’t even talking to the Sawyer’s himself.

He got blackmailed. The real player was someone else working with the Sawyer’s.

That’s who set up the hit on Vince Veylor’s shipment and…

lured your mother into that trap so Vince could kill her. And you’ll never guess who it was.”

I frowned, trying to process what Krash was saying but distracted because I still couldn’t find my wife.

“Who is it, Krash?” I asked, getting ready to head outside the yacht.

Wham!

A kick from the top of the stairs sent me crashing across the room. My phone flew into a corner as I tried to figure out what the hell was happening.

I didn’t have long to think before some masked guy was aiming to fire at me. I rolled and dove behind the kitchen island to avoid the bullets. Opening one of my hidden weapon drawers I grabbed a gun and fired back immediately.

My heart hammered in my chest. Who the hell was this guy, and what did he want? All I could think about was Serenity. Not knowing where she was scared the shit out of me. If this bastard had laid a finger on her, I’d lose it.

Gunfire exploded between us, my pulse screaming in my ears.

“Who are you? What do you want?” I shouted, firing in his direction.

Was it Sawyer Senior? No, not bold enough to face me himself. He must’ve hired a pro, someone trained to take me down.

“Where’s my wife?” I fired again.

A scream told me I’d hit him somewhere. So I rolled and charged, landing a punch that knocked him to the floor. I couldn’t kill him yet. I needed him to take me to Serenity.

“Where’s Serenity? What did you do to my wife?”

I landed another punch to his jaw, but the guy was tough as hell. He headbutted me, knocking me off balance for a second, and went for his gun. I didn’t let up as I rushed him, grabbed his waist, slammed him to the floor, and pinned him down. Pure rage powered every punch I threw at him.

I yanked off his mask, but I didn’t recognize his face.

He wasn’t from Emberwick. That made me wonder how the hell he even got into the city with Crowhurst’s security so tight.

If he managed to slip in at night without being detected, he had help on the inside.

Someone who knew exactly how to shut down security without raising any alarms. Someone with access to the Big Six council.

“Who sent you?” Another punch. “How did you get into this city?” Punch. “Where is my wife?”

He tried to shield himself, but I kept him down. Then I felt the cold press of a gun at my head.

“Hands up. Slow. Don’t make a move or I’ll blow your brains out.”

I raised my hands and moved off the bloody man on the floor.

“Waxen, get up,” said the man holding the gun on me.

He was masked too, so I couldn’t see his face. I glanced at this Waxen guy, who struggled to stand after I’d wrecked him. Running the numbers in my head, I figured my best shot was to grab this new guy’s gun before Waxen could get his back. That would give me a real chance.

I watched his movements, waiting for an opening.

When I saw one, I struck his arm to knock the gun loose.

But he was quick, grabbing it back and firing.

I rolled for cover behind a piece of furniture as bullets exploded past me.

I thought I was done for until gunfire sounded from outside and I heard Krash’s voice; he must have brought backup.

With so many shots going off, it was clear these motherfuckers didn’t come alone.

They’d brought a whole team with them and through it all, I still didn’t know where my wife was.

The chaos gave me just enough time to dive for my gun.

I fired back, and once I gained the upper hand, I charged and let loose on them.

They scrambled outside and I followed. Now it was all-out war on the yacht, with Krash, Kalash, Kusch, D, and me shooting it out against a crew of at least ten men.

“They took Serenity. I don’t know where she is!” I shouted through the gunfire, my heart pounding out of my chest.

We kept firing, dropping a few more of their men, until I aimed my gun at the guy I was sure was their leader.

“Everybody stop shooting and drop your guns or I’ll put a bullet in his head.”

I was right. They all stopped. My men surrounded them and forced them to their knees. I slammed the butt of my gun into the guy I had at gunpoint and ripped off his mask. I didn’t recognize him either, though there was something vaguely familiar about his face.

“Where is Serenity?” I yelled.

“Here,” I heard a man call out, approaching the yacht in a speedboat with his gun pressed to my wife’s head. Valery was with them too, her hands raised.

“Serenity!” I screamed, seeing my wife in danger. My heart dropped straight to my gut.

A wave of terror crashed through me. My men aimed at the guy, but he looked completely unfazed. He brought the women up onto the yacht, never lowering his gun from Serenity. Her face was streaked with tears, and I swore to God I was going to kill this motherfucker.

“All of you, lower your guns or I’ll put a bullet in her head.”

My heart crashed against my ribs and reluctantly, I lowered my gun.

“Drop your guns,” I ordered my guys, because there was no way I’d risk my wife’s life. “Don’t hurt her. You can kill me if you want, but don’t touch my wife.”

“Oh yeah? How sweet! You really care about her? Good, because you’re the one we came to kill,” he sneered.

“Then do it. Kill me and let my wife and her assistant go. You want me, so leave them out of this.”

“No!” Serenity cried out. “Don’t hurt him, please, no.” She started to sob and I swear I wanted to break the neck of every guy there for making her cry.

“Serenity, Serenity, baby. Listen to me. You’re strong, okay?

You have to stay alive. You have to live.

Don’t do anything that puts you in danger.

You know I’d give my life for you. No matter what, I’d die for you without hesitation.

I’ll get you out of this, baby. I promised I’d keep you safe, so trust me.

I’ll do everything in my power to keep you safe, baby,” I tried to reassure her.

“I don’t want to live without you. I’m pregnant, baby. We’re having a child. You can’t die without meeting your baby, Konflict. You can’t leave us.”

My heart twisted with pain seeing her so hurt, until the guy I’d held at gunpoint spoke up.

“That’s enough! Viper, why do you have your gun pointed at my niece?”

Serenity’s uncle?

Hearing those words unsettled me. None of it made sense. Why would her own uncle want to kidnap her and come after me?

“Oh, well, no, I didn’t want to aim at her, but I was a little confused,” said this so-called Viper, whose neck I promised myself I’d snap later.

“We were all coming here to take out Korven for killing the Veylor’s and keeping Serenity prisoner for over a year but as you can see, these two clearly don’t hate each other. If anything, it’s the opposite.”

I didn’t understand a damn thing that was happening. Neither did Serenity’s uncle, his men, or mine. Krash looked tense, his nerves shot, his eyes locked on someone. When I followed his gaze, I realized what he’d tried to tell me on the phone before the attack.

“Yes, I can see she wasn’t kidnapped or held prisoner, even though the last message we got said she was about to be killed. That’s why we rushed over to get her out and eliminate the threat. So what’s going on here?” her uncle asked again.

“We should ask our not-so-anonymous informant. What’s happening here, Valery?” Viper asked, pointing his gun at her.

And just like that, the shock hit. Valery?

“Yeah, I’d like to know too, Valery,” Krash said, voice cold. “And don’t bullshit us, because I’m ready to put a bullet in your head.”

“Valery, what’s going on?” Serenity asked, lost, just like everyone else. Meanwhile, I was putting together all the missing pieces of the puzzle.

Valery… She was behind all of this. And none of us saw it coming.
