CHAPTER 36

Nia

“Nia?”

“Good morning, Gage,” she greeted with a smile as she poured her coffee. “You’re up early.”

“Um… Yeah. So, I was wondering if I could talk to you for a second.”

“Of course,” Nia said and turned to her expectantly.

“I was hoping that you could ask Carrie if she’d want to spend tonight with me, too. I kind of already talked to her about it last night – just because it was part of the conversation; I wasn’t trying to break a rule or anything – and she said she’d be into it.”

Nia smiled knowingly and replied, “I will ask her when she comes for breakfast.”

“Oh, she’s outside already,” Gage told her. “I saw her coming down the hall, and we went out there together for a minute. I’m getting us both breakfast, actually.” Gage smiled nervously.

“I’ll go ask her right now, then.”

“Great. Thank you,” Gage replied.

Nia nodded, grabbed her coffee cup, and headed outside, where she found Carrie standing and looking down at the pool.

“Carrie?”

“Oh, hi. Good morning.”

“Morning. What are you doing?”

“Looking at the pool. Gage has a company that takes care of them. She was going to tell me some of the things she has to do to keep them running. She’s just grabbing us breakfast.”

“I know. I ran into her in there. She mentioned that she would like to spend tonight with you as well, so I wanted to confirm that with you.”

Carrie smiled and gave her a sure nod.

“I’d like that, too.”

“I will make the arrangements, then.”

“Thank you,” Carrie replied.

“Hey, Nia?”

Nia turned to see Becky and Helena standing in the open back door, looking like they might want to discuss something with her.

“Can we borrow you?” Becky asked.

Nia looked at Carrie to check if she was good, and when Carrie nodded, confirming that she didn’t need anything else from her, Nia walked back into the house and found that Helena was no longer at Becky’s side.

“She went to get us coffee. Can I talk to you?”

“Is everything okay?”

“It’s fine. Good, actually. Really good,” Becky told her and sat down on the sofa. “Can you sit?”

“What’s going on?”

Nia sat down next to Becky and stared at her, wondering where this was going because Becky looked nervous, and Nia had initially expected her to ask if she and Helena could just leave to be at home alone together instead of at the event where they had to participate.

“Helena and I are on the same page about something.”

“I hope you’re on the same page about a lot of things.”

Becky laughed nervously and said, “Yes. But one thing specifically is why I’m here now. We’re both on the same page about the threesome.”

“Okay. Well, that’s good. I know you’ve been interested in that.”

“There’s more. And you can totally say no.

I don’t want this to get in the way of our friendship.

We’ve been there before, you and me, and it was really good, but we reconnected, and we’re friends now, so I don’t want to do anything to risk that.

I know we don’t see each other that often because you travel, but–”

“You can just say it, Becky,” Nia encouraged, knowing where this was going now.

“We want it to be with you,” Becky revealed. “The threesome. Here. With you. Tonight, maybe. If you don’t want to, just say so, and we’ll pretend this chat never happened.”

Nia smiled, took a sip of her coffee, and said, “Helena knows about our history?”

“I told her last night.”

“She’s not worried about anything with you and me?”

“No. I told her why we would never work as a couple.” Becky leaned in then. “Plus, I’m in love with her,” she added in whisper. “Neither of us wants a third in our relationship or anything. It would just be sex and one night.”

“And she wants me to be that third person?”

“Yes. She thinks you’re hot,” Becky replied. “And I’m not jealous because you are hot and because I know she likes me.” Becky smiled widely but then turned serious and asked, “Is it too weird? You can say so, I swear.”

“No, it’s not. It wouldn’t be my first time in a threesome.”

“I know. You’re way more experienced than me. Probably than both of us.”

“Experienced? Really?”

Nia lifted an eyebrow at her

“It’s true.”

“Fine. I’ll give that to you,” she said before taking another sip. “I like sex. No shame in that. I know you and I had good sex once. It was a long time ago, too, and I’d imagine we’ve both learned some things along the way.”

“Wait. Really? You’re interested in doing this?”

“Why not? Helena is beautiful. And given that you’ve been glowing for the past two mornings, I’d imagine she’s good in bed.”

“She’s amazing in bed. God, it’s so good, Nia.”

“Then, I’m in. After I pair everyone off and make sure they’re all settled, I usually do some work while you’re all in your rooms, so it’ll be a little later.”

“That’s okay.”

“You could get started without me,” Nia suggested with a wicked grin.

“That sounds even better,” Becky replied.

“Hey,” Helena said as she walked into the room with two cups of coffee. “Are you hungry? We can grab food before everyone else comes out.”

“Yes, let’s do that,” Becky agreed before she gave Nia a smile and stood up. “She said yes,” she whispered to Helena as they walked out of the room.

“Really?” Helena whispered back, causing Nia to laugh to herself.

“Nia?”

Nia sighed and said, “Good morning, Jennifer.”

“Morning,” Jennifer replied and sat down on the spot Becky had just vacated. “Can I ask you something?”

“Of course,” she said.

“Well, Kristina and I had a really good night last night, and I was hoping you’d talk to her about spending another night with me tonight.”

“You’d like to spend the night with Kristina again?”

“Yes. We talked about it last night, and she’s in. I know you still need to confirm with her, but it came up.”

“It’s okay. Is she still in her room?”

“She went outside. I… waited for her this morning before I came out here. Is that weird?” Jennifer asked, laughing nervously.

“No, it’s not weird. It’s sweet. I’ll go find her now and check, okay?”

“Okay. Thanks.”

Nia set her coffee down on the table and walked back outside, finding Gage pointing things out about the pool to Carrie. She gave Gage a thumbs-up when she looked over at Nia, and Gage smiled. Then, Nia approached Kristina, who was sitting at the table by herself.

“Kristina? Jennifer and I just spoke, and–”

“Yes.”

Nia tilted her head.

“Sorry. You were about to ask me something?”

“Tonight? Jennifer?”

“Yes,” Kristina repeated with a smile.

“I’ll tell her you’ve confirmed, then.”

“Morning, Nia,” Debra said, walking outside through the open door.

“Good morning,” she replied, silently praying that all her careful planning had worked.

If it had, Debra was about to ask her for something as well. Then, Nia saw Sharon walking out right behind Debra, carrying two plates, and Debra had two mugs of coffee, so maybe it had worked.

“I wanted to talk to you this morning,” Debra added. “Sharon and I were thinking about having another night together tonight. Would that be okay?”

Nia smiled widely and replied, “That’s up to Sharon.”

“Yes,” Sharon said with a little laugh. “Definitely good with me.”

‘Four for four,’ Nia thought to herself.
