29. Roxy #2
The needle slides over his skin as I wipe away the excess ink. His dark nipples peak and I can’t help but subtly grind my clit over his thigh. Just tiny movements that Leon wouldn’t be able to notice.
The seam of my pants hits just right.
Kaleb inhales slowly. “That was the case for the Wraiths beforehand. But things have changed. We’re the easy target.”
Fingers fly over the keys on the laptop.
“Then explain this. Zeke was... is insane. But everything he does is calculated. Fights on the streets? Drawing guns on civilians like wannabe gangsters? I refuse to believe Zeke is behind this.”
I shiver at the words coming from Leon’s mouth. Unfortunately, I’ve become addicted to danger, it seems. Because I feel myself throbbing against the hard muscles between my legs.
“Explain the Wraith cuts I can see right here, then,” Kaleb grunts, sounding bored with the conversation.
The tattoo starts to form, my hand remaining steady by sheer will, despite how every nerve in my body vibrates.
Leon clicks his tongue. “Because I think the Wraiths are behind this.” Silence fills the room for a beat.
“But not all of them. I think Zeke disappeared and took half of them with him, to whatever hellhole he crawled to. Leaving the rest of them to believe he’s dead. That’s what we’re seeing right now.”
That does not sound good.
“And these Wraiths are running the club like reckless little shits with zero fear and something to prove,” Kaleb confirms.
Leon hums his agreement, and Kaleb mutters a curse.
And that’s where my brothers fit in, I suppose.
“Things have changed, Roxy.”
Nausea roils in my stomach, and I distract myself with the machine buzzing in my hand. Leon continues going on about the Wraiths, but when I look up, everything fades away. Kaleb’s eyes are on mine. This close, they are all-consuming.
My hand pauses and my lungs halt.
“I didn’t say stop,” he whispers on a breath.
My brows draw in confusion until his hands land on my hips and help me move them again. I feel heat crawl up my cheeks, and I force my hand to move again.
May as well enjoy the pleasure now. Because after he sees this tattoo, it’ll be nothing but punishment. Turns out I’m a glutton for it.
I slip into that easy space, where it’s just skin and ink. Thankfully, their voices fade into the background, my creativity taking over. With the added bonus of draping myself over this sex on a stick of a man.
It lasts a whole half an hour before I hear a name that makes me bristle.
“Isaac Kavanagh seems to be a big player, vying for president,” Leon says quietly.
The hand wrapped around the tattoo machine freezes, and my spine shoots up straight. My tongue feels like lead in my mouth. I feel Kaleb staring at me, but I don’t meet his gaze. I don’t need him seeing everything clearly written on my face.
“Is this something that he’s always been eyeing, Roxy?” There is a softness in Leon’s voice that makes me sick.
My teeth sink into my lip to stop it from trembling.
“She doesn’t have to answer that,” Kaleb murmurs darkly.
Blood rushes through my ears, and I wipe at the skin, bringing the needle back to it. Trying to swallow the lump forming my throat.
“She doesn’t,” Leon agrees. “But we need to know everything. Otherwise, all we’re doing is putting out their fires and not lighting any of our own.”
Kaleb’s thigh stiffens, his hands gripping my hips tighter.
“Then find it out a different way.”
There is a warning in Kaleb’s tone.
Leon sighs. “Roxy, I just...”
“Don’t say another word,” Kaleb’s voice drops an octave, and if my brother’s name hadn’t just been brought up, I’d be salivating.
“It’s okay,” I whisper, turning my head over to Leon. “My brothers have always had a sense of entitlement. I’m sure they were ready to jump at any opportunity to rise.”
The thumbs on my hips move in calming strokes. Such a jarring feeling from a man like Kaleb. The small act makes my eyes burn with unshed tears.
Taking in a slow breath, I steel myself for this conversation. If it helps the people who helped me, even just a little, I can do that.
“As far as I know, my dad, Patrick Kavanagh, wasn’t a patched-in member. The Wraiths just hired him when they needed... his violent tendencies. He was stupid and hot-headed and got killed before I was ten.”
I continue to tattoo Kaleb. It’s the only thing keeping me tethered.
“My brothers were sixteen and eighteen at that point and wanted to follow Dad’s footsteps.
From what I gathered, they were too much of a liability, that even the Wraiths wouldn’t take them on.
Too busy getting high and chasing girls.
But the Wraiths used them when they didn’t want to get their hands dirty.
I shake my head at the pictures flashing behind my eyes, before whispering. “They were never afraid of getting their hands dirty.”
My focus remains on the needle as I dip it in ink and return to Kaleb. If I look at him, I might just fall apart.
“What about their friends?” Leon presses. “Which ones should we keep an eye on?”
It’s sick, the way my lips curve at this question. Now, I finally stare into Kaleb’s eyes, just inches from mine.
“I killed the two worst ones.”
Something of a smirk flashes across his face. Almost like he’s proud of me.
“Well, shit, little killer,” Leon croons, and I giggle. “Anything else?”
My mind ticks over everything I tried to avoid. Things I wanted no part of it.
Now look at me.
“Um... Oh! They had this safe house. When things went south, they didn’t come home. It was the only time I had peace. There was this old seafood processing warehouse on the south wharf. Dad called it the freezer.”
Leon begins to type away furiously on his computer. I swipe the tattoo, adding some finishing shading.
This time, when I speak, it’s for Kaleb.
“Why can’t you just kill them?”
Words I never thought would leave my lips. But the second they leave, I know it’s the only solution. People like them... blood or not, should not be left to terrorise the city.
Dark eyes search mine.
“Is that something you want? For me to kill them?”
Kaleb’s eyes seem to sparkle, like the very idea excites him. He’s terrifying.
I nod once, just like he does. “More than anything.”
Yep, he’s definitely excited. Between his legs, his cock jerks. Getting hard over the thought of killing someone for me.
Swoon.
“Fucking hell,” Leon mutters. “Where does Ash find these bloodthirsty fuckers? We can’t kill them. Not yet, anyway.”
I turn to him with a pouty scowl.
“As much as your brothers are our most immediate problem, we’ve got an even bigger one lurking in the shadows. And your brothers might be the only link to him. For as bad as your brothers are, Zeke is the real nightmare. And if he comes back, we’re royally fucked.”
I’m scared. Because what does this mean for my... Kai and Kaleb. Will they still be stuck in this war? Will this be never ending for them?
Their lives have been nothing but violence. Just like mine. I just wish they could experience something lighter. Something that wasn’t earned with blood and pain.
“And then you kill my brothers?”
Kaleb growls. “And then I'll kill your brothers.”
Biting my lip like a blushing schoolgirl, I give the tattoo one last swipe.
“I’m done,” I murmur, wide eyes glued on him.
His eyes slowly move down his body, landing on the tattoo. A black cat wearing a balaclava sits right over his heart.
I fidget, waiting for his reaction. But just like his brother, he’s impossible to read. He stares at it for what feels like forever.
“It’s you,” he whispers.
I hum, nodding. Still nothing.
“Wicked,” Leon laughs.
Keeping his eyes on the tattoo, Kaleb tightens his grip around me. “Leon, get the fuck out of here.”
A scoff sounds from behind me. “I was here first, prick.”
“Out.”
Kaleb’s demand leaves no room for backchat. Eyes still focused on the cat. A chair scrapes, then the door closes.
Only then does he look at me.
“Do you...” I mumble, “do you like it?”
His jaw clicks, and for the second time today, I’m thrown back on the table. His hand closes around my throat, lip curling as he pushes himself over me.
“How about I show you how much I like it,” he growls, grinding his erection against my pussy. “By making you come around my cock until you're sobbing.”
He rips my pants down, shoving my top up just enough for my tits to slip out.
“There’s one thing you’ll need to change,” he adds, leaning down to kiss my pussy.
My back arches off the table, grinding into his skillful mouth. Roughly, he sucks my clit into hungrily, and I can’t bite back my moan.
“You’ll have to make its eyes blue.”
Then, he shows me how much he likes the tattoo.
