CHAPTER 9
SKINNY
It had been two days since the night we’d been stuck in the bush and the leopard attack.
Jett had me stay in the hospital to monitor me, even though I was feeling a hundred percent better, although I still had a headache.
I’d been relieved when he’d insisted Josie stay too because of dehydration.
He’d put us in the same room, for which I was grateful, even if she wasn’t speaking to me at the moment.
She was still mad at me, and I can’t say that I blame her or my brothers for being angry with my decision to make myself a target for the leopard.
It wasn’t that I had a death wish or anything.
I hadn’t considered the consequences of my actions when I’d done what I had.
I’d acted on instinct, and even though I understood where they were all coming from, I think they all knew that if I was ever in the same position again, I’d react the same way.
We’re built to protect those weaker than us, just as I had.
Not that any of us mentioned that to Josie, not wanting to upset her more than she already was.
My gaze drifts over the face of my sleeping wife. We’d pushed her bed right up against mine, and even though she was angry with me, she still gripped my hand tightly in her sleep.
We were going to be having a scan today to check on our little one. We’d both been worried about how the stress had affected the baby, but Jett hadn’t seemed too worried when he’d examined Josie, which went a long way to easing our worries.
I was beyond excited to see our little one. We’d waited a long time and put off having our own children for years, and now, finally, it was our time.
Josie’s hand twitches in mine, and she shifts restlessly in the bed.
If I hadn’t been so exhausted, I would have been worried about her waking up after sleeping for nearly fourteen hours.
I hadn’t been able to relax enough to sleep, though.
Between the noise from the nurses talking and walking up and down, being woken up for observations—which somehow Josie had managed to sleep through—and worrying about Josie and the baby, I had slept little.
I couldn’t wait to get home, back to our regular routine and our bed.
Josie wakes slowly, blinking in confusion as she tilts her head to look over at me. “Hey, baby, do you feel better?” I ask her.
“Yeah,” she nods, sitting up and slipping her hand from mine. “I need to pee, and then you can fill me in on everything.”
“Okay,” I agree and watch in amusement as she shuffles towards the bathroom, eyes still slightly closed, hair a tumbled mess and pillow creases on her cheek.
She’s cute as fuck, and I have to bite my lip to stop a laugh escaping as she stumbles into the doorjamb on the way into the bathroom.
She throws a middle finger at me, saying, “I know you’re laughing at me, Skinny Adams.”
I let loose the chuckle I’d been holding in. Even sleep-mussed and in need of a shower, she’s beautiful to me. When I hear the shower turn on, I get out of bed and walk towards the bathroom. My wife being naked ten feet away from me means I have to touch her, headache or not.
Opening the bathroom door, I close and lock it behind me, knowing what I’m about to do violates hospital policy and probably the doctors’ orders.
Josie’s eyes spring open when she hears the door close, and she sends me a narrow-eyed stare. “What are you doing?”
“Joining you in the shower,” I reply as I strip off the hospital gown and throw it down on the floor, happy to be out of it.
“Oh no, mister!” Josie holds up her hand and presses it firmly against my chest as I’m about to step into the shower, continuing to berate me. “One, I’m still mad at you. Two, you have a concussion, and three, it’s too dangerous. This shower stall isn’t like the one we have at home.”
“I’m not planning on fucking you, baby,” I inform her, wrapping my hand around her wrist and moving it from my chest so that I can step into the shower with her.
“You’re not?” she questions, and even though she’s still holding onto her mad, I can hear the disappointment in her voice.
“Nope,” I answer her, closing the distance between us until there isn’t an ounce of space we’re so tightly pressed together. “I’m planning on making you come until you forgive me.”
Kneeling down with a wicked smirk, rubbing my body along her entire length until I’m on the shower floor, looking up her body and into her shocked wide eyes. “Hold on, baby, I’m about to have you so relaxed you’ll forget you're angry with me.”
‘Shit,’ I thought maybe I should have kept that last bit to myself as her eyes narrow on me again and her nostrils flare slightly.
Not wanting her to get stuck in her head and to remember how mad she is at me, I lift her leg over my shoulder, gripping her thighs to make sure she’s steady on her feet.
I focus on her pussy and breathe in, groaning when I realise as angry as she is with me, she’s just as turned on.
Giving her a long lick from bottom to top, I smile as she lets out a small whimper.
Not wanting to tease her too much, aware that she wouldn’t be able to stand like this for long and the hot water won’t last forever, I focus my attention on her clit, alternating between licking and sucking, when Josie lets out a sob and grinds down hard on my face.
I let go of one of her thighs and add my fingers, pumping them in and out of her fluttering pussy.
She’s almost there; tightening my grip on her thigh, I hold her to my face as she rides my fingers and suck her clit into my mouth one last time.
Loving the way she sounds as she comes on my fingers, grinding her cunt on my face, taking what she needs from me. Only letting up when she pushes my face from her, whimpering, “No more.”
I know that she’s going to be extra sensitive now.
I rise, ignoring the way my knees ache, and suck one of her nipples into my mouth on my way back up her body before turning my attention to the other.
Josie’s fingers thread through my hair, pulling as she tries to curl in on herself and pull me away all at once, panting from her orgasm.
I run my lips up her neck, leaving small biting kisses as I go until I get to her mouth, which I take in a long, hard, wet kiss.
Inhaling her small whimpers and sighs before wrapping my arms tight around her and hugging her trembling body to me.
We both ignore my rock-hard cock. This wasn’t about me; it was all about her.
“Love you, Josie,” I whisper, pressing a kiss to her head.
Josie nuzzles at my chest with a small sigh and replies, “Love you, too.”
We stand like that for a little while, taking the time to enjoy the closeness before the water starts to run cold and we have to hurry through our shower.
When we’re done, I wrap Josie in a towel and tell her, “Wait here, baby, I’ll go grab us some clothes. Noni sent a bag over yesterday.”
Going back into our room, I find Jett standing there, arms crossed over his chest, eyebrow raised, and a disapproving look on his face.
Smirking at him, I swipe up our bag, saying over my shoulder, “We’ll be out shortly, and you can give me as much of a hard time then. Let me get Josie sorted first.”
Jett waves his hands at me in a shooing gesture before throwing them up in the air and slumping into one of the visitor chairs, saying, “Fine, fine. I’m just your doctor. What do I know about keeping you all safe?”
Laughing at his dramatics, I open the bathroom door and slip back in. “Was that Jett out there?” Josie wants to know.
“It was,” I answer, taking a pair of her panties from the bag and kneeling so that she can step into them, sliding them up her legs and over her hips before settling them there.
Planting a kiss on her small, firm belly, which now seems larger than it did a few days ago.
Leaning over, I take the shorts Noni sent for Josie and do the same as I did for her panties, only standing once I’m done helping her.
I give her the bra to put on because while I can remove them, putting them on is a different story.
Once she’s settled the straps on her shoulders, I hand her a T-shirt.
Only once she’s dressed do I get myself dressed so that we can go and see what Jett has to tell us.
We walk out of the bathroom together to find Shadrack waiting with Jett. I’m glad he’s here. I wanted to find out how his guys were and why the leopard had attacked us.
Shadrack greets us as we walk into the room. I walk over and shake his hand, pulling him into a back-slapping hug. “Good to see you, brother,” I tell him. “How are your guys?” I ask, letting him go with one last tap on the shoulder and joining Josie sitting on her bed.
“They’re okay thanks to Josie,” Shadrack replies with a nod towards Josie.
“The one with the broken leg had surgery and will make a recovery, even though he’ll need to do some physio.
The doctors are impressed by how cleanly Josie treated the leopard attack victim’s wounds, especially given our location, and he’s doing well.
They’re both on strong antibiotics to combat any infections, but they will both make full recoveries. ”
“That’s fantastic news,” Josie responds with a relieved smile. “Any idea why the leopard attacked?”
